Re: Comic Conventions

Visited Sacramento, CA for Sinister Creature Con (Horror themed convention). Low level convention, nothing major.

Met Sean Astin - $80 for autograph. Added to my "24" collection.

Also met Yoson An (Heart Eyes, Plane, Mulan). I didn't get an autograph, just saw him do a panel. I only remembered him from Heart Eyes, and then during the panel they mentioned Plane (that Gerald Butler movie). After the panel was over, I went up to him and offered a lot of praise for Plane. That movie was siiiiick!!! He said they filmed Plane in Puerto Rico (as the setting for the island in the movie).

Dee Wallace and Henry Thomas from ET were also there, but I didn't meet them.

Re: Comic Conventions

First comic con, and think I’m hooked. Haven’t fully unpacked yet, but will get some pictures together and share the story here someday soon.

Looking forward to hearing about your experience.

It has been a minute since I attended a con, so I love reading this thread.

Astin is usually best known at Cons as his Lord of the Rings character. He was probably flattered that you remembered his 24 character.

SF Fan Expo 2025 is next month. I don’t know if you have the time or money, but throwing it out there.

The guest list is very Supernatural and Happy Days focused.

I should have also asked him about 50 First Dates. Loved his character (the steroid brother)

And I know this message wasn’t for me, but I noticed two 24 actors on that guest list - John Boyega (Live Another Day drone pilot) and Mark Sheppard (Day 5 yellow tie guy at airport).

But I’ll skip that event, since I’m changing my autograph convention habits. I need to spend less money on minor characters that appear in a handful or less of episodes/scenes. Hobby is getting expensive. Sean Astin was in 10 episodes so that seemed ok for my collection.

Robert Englund is going to appear at Creep IE Con here in So. Cal in January

It's $165 for his photo op and I assume an autograph will be similar in price.

He's a legend and doesn't appear at too many of these nowadays since he retired as the character. I think I might have to go to this one. I'm sure the lines will be crazy for him

I know some of you guys roll your eyes at these prices.

I haven't been to this horror con before, so I am intrigued to seeing it.

Hey, I've been known to drop a few (thousand) bucks on comic books over the years, so I'm sure not gonna judge how you spend your money! A lot of people don't understand, but I say whatever makes YOU happy is all that matters.

That said ... $165??!! ARE YOU CRAZY??!!!

Don't apologize for spending money on things you enjoy. Even if it is snorting coke off of hookers.

If there's a vip option for him or just in general, I would recommend considering getting that.

I got a photo op with him which was great, but his autograph line stretched a long ways.

Re: Comic Conventions

So I'm getting set for 2026 Con season. Already purchased 2 tickets.

Going to Wonder Con 2026 in Anaheim in March. I'm going with my sister and her family. We are actually going on a Saturday, which is usually the busiest day.

and also got a ticket for Comic Con Revolution next May. That will feature signings and autographs from some of the Battlestar Galactica cast. They already got Edward James Olmos, James Callis and Tricia Helfer to appear.

Re: Comic Conventions

Kiefer Sutherland was just added as a guest to the Creep IE Horror Con in January. It’s in Ontario, CA. Same Con that Robert England is also going to,

Now I’m fucking going. Can’t miss the opportunity to meet Jack Bauer.

Too bad MLB Fan 24 lives in the Bay Area.

Re: Comic Conventions

Booked my ticket to Creep IE Con at the end of January.

Bought photo ops wit Kiefer Sutherland and Skeet Ulrich.

As for autographs, I'm debating whether to have Kiefer sign one of my 24 sets or if I should just have him sign a Jack 8x10 that they will probably have.

You're probably wondering why Skeet? I was going to meet him at LA Comic Con a few months ago until my accident happened and he's the last major cast signature I need for my Jericho season 1 DVD set. I have pretty much the entire cast and crew from that show signed on my set except Skeet, who was the lead. I also don't have Ashley Scott, but it's probably doubtful she will ever appear at Cons. Skeet has been promoting Scream and he's in Five Nights at Freddy's 2.

Re: Comic Conventions

Still awaiting more guest announcements for Planet comicon but, so far, the most interesting to me are stars of The Boys, Karen Fukuhara, Laz Alonzo and Karl Urban. Yeah William Shatner in will be here again but I'm not that interested in him.

Re: Comic Conventions

Grace Park and Katee Sackhoff are also appearing at Comic Con Resolution in May.

Man, Sackhoff has a $60 premium fee for specialty items. So her fee for specialty items is $140. Well, that negates me getting her to sign my BSG DVD. She's Star Wars talent, that's why she's commanding that kind of fee.

Awesome, looking forward to seeing some pics after the event! Kiefer seems to only like going to horror related conventions.

would that be a “specialty item”? I guess it may depend on how the dvd is packaged and what you want her to sign. I’ve had front cover inserts signed and those are just flat pieces of paper. Even cardboard slip cases can be opened and laid flat for signing.

Re: Comic Conventions

I looked at the website, and it appears that she charges $60 for an 8x10 autograph, and $140 for everything else. I seem to recall people complaining about her upcharging for Star Wars-related items.

Tricia Helfer, James Callis, and Edward James Olmos are also going to be there. If I was going, I'd probably try to get all five on my BSG blu-rays. Be about $400 bucks on top of convention fees and lodging.

Back in the days of 80s/90s when I lived in San Diego and would attend SDCC every year, I would budget $300 for autographs (5 or 6 celebs, usually), thankfully I didn't have to pay for lodging or travel. Now that same budget gets me half that number of celebs. Good thing we don't have that many that I'm interested in out here. This year, so far, there's only 1 since I've never been interested in Shatner or Supernatural.

Re: Comic Conventions

Going to the Hollywood Show in Burbank tomorrow.

I purchased photo ops with Debbie Gibson, the cast of Hunter (the 80s cop show) and Eva Larue, who played Natalia on CSI Miami.

Really looking forward to it.

I also mentioned that I'm going to Creep IE Con at the end of the month. I already got Kiefer Sutherland and Skeet Ulrich. I also got Emily Kinney from the Walking Dead. She was inexpensive and I've always found her cute.

Re: Comic Conventions

For someone who is 69 years old, Stepfanie Kramer still looks pretty good for her age. Back in the day, she was pretty damn hot.

I'm going to probably have them sign a cast photo of Hunter and McCall. Unfortunately, I don't own Hunter on physical media to have them sign it.

I'll try to post some photos later tonight when I get back from the show.

Before anyone says something rude about Fred and his expression. When I chatted with him, he was friendly, but also pretty forgetful. He did not recall some events from the show. He also had a tremor. Fred said during the Hunter panel that he doesn’t have Parkinson’s, but has sustained some brain damage. Probably the effects of his NFL career. And he is 79 now. But he was chatty in the Q&A.
