Re: Comic Conventions

Just got back from Comic Con Revolution. Had a blast. Met Tom Welling and Erica Durance from Smallville. Also bought a few signed prints and a signed prints book from an Independent artist. It was a smaller con than say LA Comic Con or Wondercon. Took about an hour to get there. Spent about 5 hours.

Re: Comic Conventions

I always enjoyed listening to John Barrowman talk when he showed up at the cons I've attended.

Re: Comic Conventions

Why does every comic con have the same red and white curtains? lol

My son went to Motor City Comic Con this weekend. I haven't been myself in years. I've been priced out of the market.

Re: Comic Conventions

Bought a ticket to LA Comic Con in late September. It's my 5th straight year going to this Con. Going to gamble and go on a Saturday, which is usually the craziest day.

The cast of Daredevil Born Again is going to be there except Deborah Ann Woll. Debating if I want to go do a photo with Cox and D'Onofrio.

Some male members of the Scream cast is also going to be there including Skeet Ulrich. I was a fan of his old CBS show Jericho and about 17 years ago, I managed to get most of the cast and crew to sign my DVD set for free. Back then, they were promoting the 2nd season that got greenlit and didn't charge for it. Skeet wasn't there at the time, so I might get him to sign my DVD as well.

Re: Comic Conventions

Anime Expo is this weekend in Los Angeles. I saw some videos and people were lined up outside the LA Convention Center starting at 6am this morning. Crazy.

And autographs and photo ops for this aren't cheap. Some are going for quite a premium. I guess those are top tier voice actors commanding that much. I've never been into Anime, so this wasn't a Con I was interested in.

I don't often have much to say, but I appreciate your continued updates on various cons that you are either aware of or attend yourself.

Re: Comic Conventions

A bunch of big studios are skipping panels this year at SDCC later this month. So Hall H is going to be chirping crickets.

Re: Comic Conventions

I can appreciate the fact that local regional cons are becoming more popular, and San Diego Comic Con isn’t the FOMO event anymore.

Everyone across the nation can attend a local con somewhat close to their hometown, with the opportunity to meet decent celebrities.

Re: Comic Conventions

Anime Expo just televised over 20 hours of live content on YouTube channel and all of it got pulled because Studio Ghibli filed a copyright complaint

And this is the official con that supports their content.

The next Con I will be attending is a Midsummer Scream in Long Beach, CA. It's a horror Con. It's in Mid August.

Two notable guests are John Carpenter and Nick Castle, the original Michael Myers. If they aren't too expensive, I might try to get them to sign my Halloween BD box set from Shout Factory. I don't really care that much about photos with them.

Re: Comic Conventions

I think last year at cons John Carpenter was $125 and Nick Castle for $70. I wouldn't be surprised if their prices are up to $150 & $80 these days. And they might charge extra for "premium items". Seems like everyone's been raising their prices lately.

It's somewhat expensive, but offers great value (celebrities, additional events in the evenings, venue). I usually see 10% to 20% discount coupons on their website, depending on when the ticket is purchased.

Though I've only been to the 2024 San Jose version of GalaxyCon.

LA Comic Con just announced they added Mike Colter, Krysten Ritter and Wilson Bethel to it's lineup.

Will definitely be getting Colter.

Keep an eye on their WhatNot shows. They often give away tickets to upcoming conventions. They also usually have a discount code for their website, or you can request a discount.

Galaxy is one of my favorites. Just did Raleigh over the weekend and have gone every year. It is expensive, but if you buy tickets way in advance they have good discounts. And taking advantage of the night time stuff adds to the value.

This weekend I knocked out so many CW sigs I needed: Tyler Hoechlin, Bitsie Tulloch, Grant Gustin and Tom Cavanagh

Re: Comic Conventions

Denise Richards and Patrick Muldoon was added to Comic Con LA in September

I'm seriously thinking about getting her to sign my Wild Things 4K

So I might be looking at:
Cox
Ulrich
Colter
and maybe Richards

Love the meme quote Tom Cavanagh included. Was that your idea or did he do that on his own accord?

I asked him to do it. When I was in line I saw his sign had an option to add a quote for $10 more. Had to do it

Re: Comic Conventions

We get her first, at Fan Expo Canada next weekend. And the autograph is ‘only’ $70 CDN, which is like $50 US.

Went to this last year, after maybe a decade or so. More crowded than ever, like they all are. Every few years is more than enough for me. I don’t care for the celebrity thing (even at TIFF to be honest, despite going every year), but the guest lists seem to be decent by Canadian con standards. Apparently the big ‘get’ here is most of the principals from the BTTF trilogy (before Lea Thompson canceled, anyway).
