Re: Comic Conventions
Comic Con LA just announced they added Dina Meyer, Casper Van Dien and Jake Busey for a full on Starship Troopers reunion.
Oh the dilemma. Now I have a Starship Troopers 4K disc that would look great with Richards, Meyer and Van Dien's autographs on them.

Just got back from Midsummer Scream. Got two inexpensive photo ops and autographs. Met Nick Castle, the original Michael Myers and writer, producer and director Charles Band from Full Moon Features. Nick was really nice and Charles was cool to talk to about Trancers. I’m holding the new 4K disc of it that he signed. Nick signed my Halloween blu ray box set. I mentioned that John Carpenter was also there. Welp, no dice for him. His line was at least an hour to 2 hours long. No line for Nick and he was $60 total with the photo included.

Wow, LA Comic Con just added Bryce Dallas Howard to it's roster of celebrities. I like her, but her fees are quite pricey. Will likely have to pass on her.

Re: Comic Conventions
It’s not really a “Comic Con” but on Saturday I went to the Hollywood Show in Burbank. I have a couple of photo ops to share.
Mira Sorvino. She was very cool to the fans. I asked her about the status of Romy and Michele 2 and she confirmed it’s happening. She’s doing Chicago on Broadway and Lisa has another project. Once they wrap, she says they’ll start work next Spring. She looks amazing for 57. Her young daughter was with her and her agent at her booth.

Also met Lydia Cornell. If grew up on 80s comedies, she played Sara Rush on Too Close for Comfort on ABC. And she’s appeared on various shows through the years. I even asked her if she was ever on Battle of the Network Stars and she said yes. Very nice and she’s 72! Looks amazing still.

I had a really fun time. The autographs I scored are in the autograph thread.
One more Con to go before the year is up and it’s a big one. LA Comic Con in a few weeks.

Re: Comic Conventions
Next Saturday is LA Comic Con. I went ahead and pre-purchased my autographs and photo ops.
I got the following:
Mike Colter
Skeet Ulrich
Dina Meyer
Denise Richards
Bryce Dallas Howard
I opted to pass on Charlie Cox. Too many surcharges and his fee is quite pricey.
Elizabeth Olsen is apparently selling like crazy and they posted on their site that they are almost sold out. And she's way more expensive than Cox. Paul Bettany also joined recently his prices are nearly the same as Olsen.
Star Wars and Marvel talent are crazy expensive at Cons.
i ordered Ulrich because he's the last signature I need for my Jericho season 1 set that I got signed 17 years ago (for free) by the entire cast and crew.
Planning to have Richards sign my Wild Things 4K set.
I know Dina Meyer isn't really a big star and is a working actress, but she's starred in stuff I enjoy like the Saw movies and I've always found her really sexy.
I'll post pictures in this thread next week.

Sadly I was unable to attend LA Comic Con today.
Had a medical emergency and went to the hospital overnight. I’m okay, but this sucks.

You should have called the Con and demanded that the celebs come to your room and sign your stuff and take selfies with you in your bed.

I called my credit card company to see what they can do since I was physically unable to go and collect the items. They will get back to me. But yes that’s a lot of money I would have to eat.
I can deal with eating the admission fee.

It’s not looking good that I will get my money or any kind of compensation back. You know what it sucks. But shit happens and medical emergencies happen. I’m getting the treatment I need and I hope it will not hinder me again in the future.
There will be other Cons. There is just one me.

I reached out to the Con via email and thankfully they were understanding of my circumstances being hospitalized and refunded me the vast majority of the money I paid for the autographs and photo ops. Minus service fees. I did have to eat the $60 admission fee, but I can deal with that. Thank God.

Re: Comic Conventions
As a horror movie fan, I've been tempted to meet Linda Blair at a con - but I've always been turned off by the plethora of reports of her acting rude or dismissive with fans. She seems to have zero interest in discussing the movie that made her famous, just in collecting money and raising awareness for her dog charity. But this incident takes the cake:
She was at Scaradise in Florida over the weekend. This family showed up in an elaborate group cosplay, recreating a scene from The Exorcist. They clearly put a lot of time and effort into it. Instead of having a sense of humor like most people would, Blair apparently decided to get pissy with them. By the parent's account, she called them terrible for involving their kids in such a display and for promoting Satan. Did Linda forget why the hell she's even booked at these fan events?

The worst part is that she allegedly requested an addition $200 to pose with them (on top of the $80 photo op charge) and it appears they ended up paying it. Then it seems Blair proceeded to badmouth them to other attendees the rest of the day. The parents later tried to rationalize the way they were treated by theorizing that their family's costume must have triggered a post-traumatic stress response left over from her filming The Exorcist in 1973. I call BS there. Sometimes you just have to call a spade a spade. I once met Eileen Dietz (who was the demon Pazuzu's face and Blair's double for some of the more physical stuff in The Exorcist) and she was also a nasty piece of work. Still the rudest and most blatantly money hungry guest I ever approached. She even told me "Yeah, I can tell from looking at you that you're not a reader." after I declined to purchase a copy of the memoir she kept incessantly pushing. The utter gall of that woman...

Re: Comic Conventions
Blair had many problems in the 1980s from what I recall once her legitimate movie career more or less died. I assume she's privately sick of being tied to a role she played as a kid but mortgages don't pay themselves.

As the old saying goes, sometimes it’s best not to meet your “heroes”.
Meeting your favorite celebrities sometimes ruins your impression of them, which sucks.

I've only had positive experiences with the celebrities I've met at Cons.
The only somewhat lukewarm experience I had was meeting Phil Jackson at a book signing almost 30 years ago. He didn't say hello and just signed his book looking down and didn't make eye contact.

You cannot even say Linda is against the movie and promoting Satan etc when she actually was involved in the latest sequel/reboot of the movie. That is insane. Good thing to know so I don't waste my time trying to see her.
I went to Creep I.E. Con Aftermatch a few weeks ago. While it was not well attended like their Jan/Feb show, the guests were amazing. Took my friend's oldest kid and we got to talk to Fiona Dourif, Frank Grillo, Killer Kross and Scarlett (wrestlers), Robin Tunney, Ethan Embry (amazing dude who talks movies and music), Johnny Whitworth, and Jeff Daniel Phillips (he called us over to talk and had a few conversations with him through the weekend). Oh ya, Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice. All very fan friendly, no egos or anything.

May Hong, who voices Mira in KPop Demon Hunters is signing and taking photos at a Anime Con in Pasadena next month. It would be kind of cool to meet her, but I'm not really into Anime in general. If Arden Cho was there, I'd go in a second, but she's probably way too popular to go to a small con like this.

Anyone going to Baltimore this weekend? A bunch of people from the one podcast I listen to, 11 o’clock Comics, are going, but I’d love to meet more of you also.
