Compedium makes sense for anyone who just wants to read the story quick and dirty. Kinda like those Marvel books that reprint 25 issues at a time in black and white. But once you're hooked, what do you do? Wait four years for the next one?

Concerning the end of #106

Spoiler:
Do you think Negan ironed Carl's face, or killed him, or something else more nasty?

I think that
Spoiler:
Negan will lead Rick to believe that Carl is dead, but I have a feeling that Negan wants to keep Carl around. I think he sort of admires the kid's tenacity and wants to use it for his own purposes.

Now that you say that, I just realized I've gone through ~7 years worth of the comic in a couple days. Waiting month to month for more issues is going to suck...

How much do the issues cost anyway? I haven't been to a comic store in awhile.

My guess is that
Spoiler:
he didn't do a thing physically to Carl.

I would recommend the TPB at this point. You'll only get two a year, but reading issues month to month seemed very labored to me (and I buy about two dozen monthly books) for this title.

I read the first Compendium then went with the TPBs. Not great to have to wait, but I hate storing floppies. Also, if you decide to get the Compendiums as they come out, I'd guess you have a better chance at reselling the TPBs.

I'm sure you could sell the floppies just fine, but I sold the first 16 TPBs in one auction for more than I paid for them (go figure) to one seller... wham, bam, thank you ma'am.

Re: The Walking Dead (and other zombie discussion)

I finished the compendium and read up to issue 105. Just have to get issue 105 and 106 now. I forgot how short comics were...

Waiting a month for 5 minutes of reading is going to suck.

This is like the people who watched the first season of Lost in a few days then had to watch the second season at a pace of one new episode every four weeks.

Regarding the end of #106:

Spoiler:
It's clear that Negan respects Carl, so I don't think he's killed him or even maimed him too horribly. I mean, what more could he do physically that's worse than the way his face looks now? I almost wonder if it's not going to be something much less serious than we expect, like dressing Carl up like Little Bo Peep or something silly like that.

I'm still in love with the comic. The show has finally gotten good, after two tedious seasons, but the comic still kicks its ass ten ways to Sunday.

My theory:
Spoiler:
I'm thinking Carl's story will have something to do with Negan's harem. They spent a lot of time there for it to mean nothing.

Oh jeeze... like Carl becoming a member of the harem? That would be the sickest thing in the history of the book

Re: The Walking Dead (and other zombie discussion)

I read issue 107 yesterday. I thought it was pretty boring compared to the last few issues. I have no idea how the first 96 comics were split up since I read the two compendiums.

I believe the compendiums don't include the covers, so it can be tough to tell where one issue ends and the next begins.

Yeah, there aren't any covers so I didn't know how they split up the story between issues. If I remember correctly, they did break the compendium up into chapters though. For some reason I remember comics being a lot longer when I was younger.

Oh yeah I get what you mean. I was wondering the same thing with the first two paperbacks.

I love the Walking dead series. Anyone know of any Online zombie comics that compare or some what live up to the Walking dead series?

I don't know how the TPBs always seem to sneak up on me, but #18 is due June 18, with issues 103-108. Can't wait to read it then click on some of the spoiler tags in this thread. I appreciate people's use of spoiler tags!

Re: The Walking Dead (and other zombie discussion)

So I have never read more than 7-8 issues in a row of any other title, I am not a book fan and I collect comics more for the value and the art on the covers than the stories inside but I have read every issue of WD twice now courtesy of the digital prints. So far and away this is the best comic I have read.

I just started up this title called "Crossed" yesterday. I found this title after doing a "similar to walking dead" search. I am also going to try Y the Last Man, but back to Crossed. I am having a little trouble following along(sometimes have to read something 2-3x before all the pieces come together) but 3 issues in, I have seen:

Spoiler:
a handful of rapes including a man and woman getting raped at the same time and in the same scene the woman's daughter(?) gets stretched and shredded apart by her limbs in the background. Also watched 2 of the "good guys" woman and man execute 6 elementary school age kids while they sleep because the group needs to travel and I believe the kids would impede progress, two of the kids awake after the shots screaming and crying for their life before getting blasted. In WD you have kid on kid killings but it's like WD is rated R and this Crossed title is NC-17 or worse.

Re: The Walking Dead (and other zombie discussion)

Yea Crossed from what I've read is just fucking crazy at times. Don't enjoy it as much as Walking Dead.

Finally caught back up with the WD and man, i think i like Negan as a bad guy more than the Governor and that's saying something. It's kinda funny to see how each "leader" leads their groups in a different manner. The King is awesome and I hope we see the lion in action at some point.

Re: The Walking Dead (and other zombie discussion)

Personally I'm pretty bored of the Negan story arc. Just feels like it's moving slow (even with the events of the last two issues) and i'm getting annoyed by him more then anything.

Re: The Walking Dead (and other zombie discussion)

In the latest issue 113, they said ALL OUT WAR starting with issue 115 it will be a 12 comic arc and they will pump them out in 7 months time.

Back to the Crossed. I read all the crossed issues, sick stuff, really pushed my limits but I poured through them. Now I am reading Y the Last Man, it's a 60 issue run. I am half way through. It's alright in that I am actually still reading it, but it's a bit boring compared to WD and the Crossed. Going to try Preacher or whatever it is called next.
