I'd really like to get this. $4 shipping & 10% sales tax kinda kill the bargain.

Good idea. I also may buy one of 2 expensive home items I need but haven't been able to afford to make the $35 (they would put me way over $35 unfortunately).

Amazon is opening 2 physical grocery stores fairly close to me. Hopefully they'll expand to carry (or at least pick up) all merchandise. The gas may be cheaper than the postage (SAD)!

I'm concerned that rising shipping costs from all the carriers are going to harm internet sales; & if we do get an internet sales tax that many states have wanted for years, that will also make net shopping less affordable.

You might as well get used to the idea of paying an internet sales tax. They finally got Amazon to start taxing purchases from Oklahoma, so it shouldn't be long for your state to follow along.

Alabama started this past November. It has seriously curbed my purchases at Amazon.

Amazon now hits all states for tax.

I'm In Wa. Been paying Sales tax to Amazon from day 1, which is why I usually try to avoid Amazon, Best Buy, Target & Warner.

As current USA law stands sales tax is only required if the actual seller has an actual physical presence in a sales tax state.

What I hate is when they collect the sales tax, but the item actually ships from a different state - that doesn't seem quite fair....

There are five states that do not have a sales tax:

Alaska.
Delaware.
Montana.
New Hampshire.
Oregon.

I spend lots of time in California. And do not buy much from Amazon.Tax is part of the reason and just not finding many deals.

Even when I'm home in Oregon.I'm buying way less from Amazon then years ago.
I buy more from Ebay and UK bicycle shops for my bike parts.

You've been paying sales tax to your state, Amazon just collects it for them.

And technically, when you make out of state purchases you're supposed to still pay your state the sales tax.

Technically, you are correct.

The Night Of - $12.99, but Temporarily of of Stock right now. But you can still order.

Yes - this isn't about sales tax.

The price has gone back up to $117-$122. Mine hasn't shipped, but it appears I'm getting it.

I actually tried to give Best Buy the business first. I swung by a local store that showed available on the site and the shelf was empty and I wasn't going to hang around to find someone so they could look in the back. So Amazon won this round.

BobO'Link 04-05-17 02:28 PM

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Amazon won for me as well. The local store has neither title in stock and the pair doesn't cost enough to get "free" shipping. I have Prime. Each ordered separately with slow shipping for another $2 in "digital credits" I've been using to "purchase" digital copies of Warner Archive titles. For the past couple of years I've more than paid for my Prime membership this way.
