I have started calling these "deals" "lightning gambles" and get them elsewhere if remotely possible.

On the main page, click on "today's deals." Now on the "today's deals" page look to the left for the department you want. In this case, "DVD & Blu-ray." Now find a DVD or Blu-ray you want. Now hover your mouse over the "watch this deal" button. Look at the countdown bar to know when the deal starts. 3.....2.....1.....the "watch this deal" button will change to "add to cart." Be one with this button and the moment it changes click it. Don't hesitate, don't read it, don't pause, click it immediately. Immediately!!!! Don't be polite and wait. Don't stall. Don't think. Just click. 9 times out of 10 I've gotten the deal. I've gotten everything I wanted this year, no problems.
I hope this helps.

Love slow shipping option . I can cancel orders before they ship in case a better deal comes along. Have done it several times this week.

Hmm... well spotted. DVDs of HoC are $10ea; Blu between $14 and $16.50. Which still isn't that bad..

And Target have an Exclusive version that they MIGHT (opinions differed; I got it, but only because the checkout guy was feeling generous and I hadn't annoyed him..!) give you for $9 rather than $24.99.

They won't match BB, though, if anyone was curious.

I have done the same. Plus you get a $1 for digital stuff if you keep the order.

Just watched Gone Girl blu be gone and full wait list in seconds--like 3 seconds. Still can grab for $6 at Target. Whew!

Yes, I am a prime member and I do just as described here. I suppose it doesn't help that the movie I tried for seems to be the hot ticket of the year. All I got was the endless spinning circle and when it finally resolved it said: "wait list full". Can you imagine? I didn't even get on the wait list! Whatever. I don't count on lightning gambles and will avoid them when I can.

I just picked up X-Men: Days of Future Past and I had access two minutes before the deal hit the regular site. It was likely gone in a second or two. Unless Amazon adds copies for the regular lightning deal, something I doubt, they would be gone before the deal even started.

Just guessing, of course.

I am a Prime member and I've never had a problem getting what I want during LDs until today. I was watching 22 Jump St. and there was 2 minutes and 20 seconds left. I turned my head to watched my TV for like 10 seconds and when I turned around it said 100% claimed. Pretty odd.

I find this link to be the best because if there are multiple items you want you only have to move the mouse one direction, left or right.

Yeah why wouldn't Amazon sell HoC Blu-ray seasons for $9.99 a piece.

It's not like it's a new series, and is probably collecting dust in their warehouses.

It amazes me the crap that has gone on sale this BF versus a nice wholesome, kickass sale.

eBay has been pretty good to me this year.

I'd guess that these sales are more studio-driven than clearance-driven. That's why we see the same titles at different stores.

I did see a number of TV-show-set deals today were from a marketplace seller (amazingmedia) and fulfilled by Amazon. I don't know if I've ever seen that before.

It's been pretty shitty so far on Amazon. The last time that site had goof BF deals was when Pacific Rim, The Conjuring, etc., were between $3.99 and $7.99.

There has yet to be anything remotely close to cool during this BF sale.

That's a YMMV statement. This isn't the best BF sales, but it hasn't been bad. And I expect weekend LDs like previous years.

One thing I forgot to mention was that they have a movie-only version of the new 25th Anniversary of Goodfellas for $7.49. For those that don't want to spend almost $30 on the full package that may be an option. I'm probably going to get that version, because I don't want to spend a lot of money on the full one.

I went for the Jurassic Park collection--had been holding out on upgrading my JP DVDs, so this was a good deal for me.

What browser are you using? I've tried doing this in Chrome and Safari and don't see the "watch this deal" button.

They did that some last year. I remember being a bit surprised and also that the "deal" from those typically wasn't as good as those with Amazon as the vendor.

I see it on the main deals page using Firefox - but that page is a horrible, horrible, kludge of crap. I've complained about it so much that they no longer reply with a "Thanks for your input" email if it's the subject.

The link DthRdrX posted above is far superior and will yield better results.

Safari. Try looking for items that are set to start later. If you still don't see the "watch this deal" button, then maybe it's a prime thing?

50 down 5 up is what they advertise. At the moment I see 20 down 5 up... just depends on how screwed up Suddenlink is at the moment.

The way I've told my friends is during the countdown on an item, if you see the clock going down second by second, then you're okay usually. If you see the countdown skip every few seconds, then you don't have a good connection, and that's when you can have issues as soon as it hits zero.

That's kinda slow.. no wonder why you might be having issues.. when the timer is counting down, does it sometimes skip a second here and there?
