Hobbit went even quicker. I clicked add to cart, it loaded up 100% Claimed Wishlist Full. The clear message is that Black Friday is only for hair triggered Prime members.

That's how Capitalism works: when there's competition, we see a different correlation between supply, demand & pricing than we do when there are basically a few monopolies. This has been proven time after time in numerous types of businesses. I am in the online music (& until recently movie) business. One very odd thing I'm seeing is that wholesalers even other then Super D (i.e. the Deep Discount family) are charging more at wholesale than some sellers are at retail. I don't have a clue WHO they're selling to at these prices. I (& others in the business) have known for years this was Super D's plan to eliminate the competition; but the other wholesalers I'm thinking of don't have retail outlets. |

It's a period love story/adventure with some sci-fi elements. I think it's a terrific show and the lead is beautiful, but it's not for everyone.

IMO, there is so little true competition left, that we're not going to see the prices of days gone by; unless downloading gets so rampant that Amazon & the labels feel severe price cutting is nessecary to sell anything.

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
Forgot to set myself a reminder for Mad Max or Outlander.
I might try to drop into a store to check Max this weekend. I might get Outlander digitally or just wait for streaming. White Queen hit Prime right after I bought it, though I don't think DaVinci's Demons or Black Sails have gotten there yet. |
Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
Black Sails is probably worth a blind buy since even if you dislike the show itself, the Blu-ray has incredible A/V quality. Like literally the best-looking live-action video on the format. I definitely wouldn't recommend Da Vinci's Demons as a blind buy.

I might try to drop into a store to check Max this weekend MAD MAX is still available on Best Buy's site for $7.99, free shipping. |
Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
TOMORROWLAND is $15.99. Perhaps a sign it will drop even further?

Black Sails is pretty good. I would describe at as Deadwood with pirates, so if that description sounds appealing, it's worth checking out.
Unfortunately it gets virtually no attention in the TV Talk forum when they air week to week. If you don't have Starz and have never seen it, It's very much worth a blind buy if you're a fan of the genre. |
Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
Deal of the day is 24.99 for the Jurassic Park collection, including all four movies and extra 3D copies of Park and World. Packaging is crappy, and it's basically the same price as the Blus individually from Best Buy if you're lucky enough to pick them up, but the added 3D is significant.
Also stuff like Gotham s.1, Arrow s. 3 and Flash s.1 are 19.99. I'm not even sure who they're matching. |
