I'm tempted to get The Sopranos: The Complete Series. I doubt it'll drop too much lower but might wait it out a bit longer as I don't want to drop the cash at the moment. Still though $100 is less than I paid for the DVD set for the complete series.

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Wow, I had to get Sopranos for that price. And I had $25 in Discover Cash Back bonus money, so that makes it all the better. I have all 4 seasons of Treme, or I'd be buying that as well. I don't there's any additional bonus content in the full series set.

Okay, just read about the bonus disc. Looks like musical performances. As much as I'd like that, I'll be passing on it.

Been waiting for the <$100 price point on Sopranos BR but now hesitating, as I could watch all on Prime free and never have yet. Got so many unwatched box sets just to have, do I really need another? Decision, decisions.., (also, Discover is giving 5% back on Amazon purchases through December, so you should save the cashback and use the card to earn more. same with Chase Freedom).

Is the set a Deal of the Day or on sale for a while? The page doesn't appear to be indicating that it's only for today but I can't imagine it'll stay this price long. Unless they're matching some other retailer's price.

The Wire went from about $88 earlier to $79.99 now. I am guessing this is all about as Fry's Electronics calls it " Black November". Definitely not listed as Deals of The Day or Lightening Deals. Keep checking and post what deals you find. No telling when the prices will change.

Complete "Friends" Blu Ray $79.99.

I think Kino wised up and realized their line-up of back catalog b-movies would sell better under $15.

Keep in mind the Blu-ray has the broadcast versions of the episodes as opposed to the extended episodes on DVD. It is almost valid to have both. Content vs pic/sound quality.

Are the bonus features on The Sopranos complete set good? It's my favorite show and I've seen it multiple times, but for that price, I'm tempted.

There's nothing new aside from a 45-minute featurette on the final disc.

One of the things that bothers me about the Blu-rays over the DVDs is that the "Previously on The Sopranos" and "Next on the Sopranos" clips are absent (at least for the first season...haven't gotten to watching any further on Blu-ray yet).

But are they overall any good season to season, such as the commentaries, stuff like that? I've never seen it on DVD, just on HBO Go/Amazon.

I haven't watched that much Friends but I have heard about the broadcast vs. extended. Bummer about not making this the definitive release, but I guess they just converted what they would need for HD syndication and threw it on disc.

The DVDs really do make my eyes bleed, though.

I'd buy lots of 5 if they were $10 each.

I believe Warner Bros. said the extended edition only exist on video on 480i. Some on these boards refuse to believe that but that was the explanation about why the extended editions didn't make it to blu. To insert the extended scenes in 480i into the HD masters would look terrible. FYI the syndicated versions of the episodes are shorter than the original broadcast versions. There were fewer network commercials 20 years ago.

In a way Warner kind of shot themselves in the foot with the extended version DVDs. I am sure when the DVDs came out they weren't thinking of releasing the show in HD. They were trying to offer something extra so people would have a reason to buy the DVDs over watching the show in syndication. If they had just released the broadcast version on DVD there wouldn't be complaints about the blu ray.

Yeah.. many of the DVDs are terrible picture quality.. just terrible... If they could have made the extended or deletes scenes as special features on the BR set, that may have been enough to drop some complaints..

I do like the comment it makes your eyes bleed.. lol...

The commentaries are hit and miss...some of them are rather dry, honestly. Most of the BTS featurettes are decent, and the "Supper with the Sopranos" (carried over from the DVD Complete Series set) round-table is really good.

Posted on Costco thread. Costco has the complete Sopranos for $89.99. How low will it go ?

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Probably about that low intentionally. Next stop will be a pricing mistake.

You are correct. It currently shows as $87.28 shipped to the US at Amazon.uk. You will do better using a credit card that doesn't charge foreign transaction fees and pay in local currency. The discs are region free. You will not get the streaming on the UK set. I am firmly convinced I will never get the lowest price. Anytime I buy something at a great price someone will sell it for less. Its always possible that Costco will have an instant off on the set during the next two months. Though I didn't see many copies of the set in the store.

If you have any AMEX points and your card registered at Amazon, using the code SWP9AXP15 may take $15 off one of these box sets (or any purchase over $50).

Ordered Sopranos and selling the UV code to a friend for $25. So even better price.

This worked great thanks. Applied 1 point for $0.01 credit, and also used the code and got The Wire complete series for $45.
