Almost all of Amazon's Black Friday "Deals" are price matching other stores deals. Many of them only end up as Lightning deals though.

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

In prior years Amazon did deal matching for almost every bluray deal available. But last year Amazon did not match a significant number of BD deals. I would not necessarily count on it this year either. If you see early online access to deals at, like, Best Buy, I'd jump on them.

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

I don't think I ended up ordering any blu rays or video games from Amazon last year. Like others have said, the ones they do match are put up as lightning deals and gone in seconds. It's much easier to grab from Best Buy or Target if possible. Especially since both stores will have their deals online and offer free shipping.

I was the opposite, I pretty much tried to do a lot of lightening deals last year. Of course, if I miss out, at least I didn't go into a store during the mayhem and come out with nothing. At least I get to avoid the crowds. But yeah, I also was online and grabbed a few Best Buy deals as well.

I've had great success getting in on Amazon's lightning deals, but I've been ready to click when the sale goes live. On the other hand, I've missed many at BB and Target because they become quickly "sold out" online. Seems like all options have a shelf life and one must be on top of the real, best, deals because they will not last long at any retailer.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if a lot of Amazon's Black Friday deals end up being Prime exclusives.

I returned The Sopranos to Best Buy and ordered it from Amazon (same day delivery). My favorite show. Hoping to go through it again, and consume all the special features.

If they bring back the free Prime trial offer again that would be OK with me. I've done that for multiple BF's in the past.

That was me.. I hit every lightning deal I wanted. But, I also watch prices. If a lightning deal is $2 less than the BF WEEK price on Amazon, I'm more apt to pull the trigger on the higher price to ensure I get it.

The biggest issue by far was that Amazon didn't release the bluray LD schedule until very late, sometimes the morning of.

I would consider a BF deal getting Prime for $25. Yeah, I know. Wishful thinking.

Deal of the Day 11/15

Mad Men Complete Series Gift Set $99.99. Amazon reviews have complaints about difficulty in removing discs from packaging.

Not the deal of the day but a good price Lost In Space Complete Series $74.99.

Hobbit, The: Motion Picture Trilogy/ExT Cut (BD) [Blu-ray] pre-release price drop from $64.99 to $59.99. Matching Bestbuy.

I was close to pulling the trigger, but looked and saw that the original LOTR extended edition trilogy dropped to $29.99. With BF week looming, I'm waiting.

Maybe it dips lower in a week, maybe it doesn't. I just feel like I can do better than $59.99. YMMV.

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

I agree the price is still a lot, but LOTR has been discounted for 3 years to get to this low price. Not sure I want to wait that long, but then, I haven't watched the last two after a bad experience with 1 at the 45-frame rate.

The Hobbit Trilogy is the last thing on my list. They will be making one for every man, woman, and child to be born for the next 50 years.

Yeah, probably, but I doubt it will dip to the $30-$40 price for at least a year.

Mind you, I'd love to be wrong and pick it up for under $40 Black Friday weekend, but I'm not planning on it.

John Wick is $8.. without me looking on the BF ads, does anyone know if its advertised anywhere to be lower than that?

Is this movie really good or worth a blind-buy?, I'm just not sold on Keanu as a badass. An everyday action guy, sure but as a badass?

The John Wick price is also a PM to Target, which will have this price all week, just in case anyone feels like picking it up today. I might do that, since I now get charged tax at Amazon, but have a 5% Redcard discount at Target

It's a solid modern action movie but it's not going to change your life or anything. It's up to you if that is worth your $8.

John Wick is currently airing on HBO/HBO Go/HBO Now if you have it or have access to it.

You could also rent a digital copy as well from Amazon.

There are other options than feeling pressured to purchase something you may only watch once or throw into your closet unopened with other backlog.

But yes, John Wick is a pretty fun action movie. I've seen it twice, but it may not have replay value for others.
