Well, it's technically possible, but Universal would have to pay Warner for the rights. The negotiations would start with " Hey, we want to include your classic film as a throw-in to our inferior remake!" ;)

There are been plenty of thatbhage had multiple studios work together on. I for one had always thought there would be a Kong Ultimate edition that includes the original. Oh well, since they plan on doing a universe with crossover movies, perhaps it'll happen someday.

The new Heat BD is now $6.99.

No excuse to get it at this price point.

Why wait 6 months when most folks spend twice as much daily for Starbucks? Priorities, I guess. I just think it's funny when people were complaining that they couldn't get it for $7.88 on release date. Yet here we are.

its all perspective. Coffee is a need of the hour, a bluray movie is not. But coming back to this, its how this market plays out, there's nowhere to go on price but down. And its happening increasingly sooner as noticed, hence you can hedge your bets on its occurrence with seemingly good odds.

For myself only, it would be ludicrous to wait 6 months to save $2 when something is already an excellent value. But to each their own.

Plus I really doubt an older movie like Heat will be on sale during BF. I get it is a newer release, but still an old film that is moving. My friend and I picked up a copy at BB and I believe there are no more copies now at the store.

Doctor Who Season 8 is a new low price of $29.99.

Have we talked about Amazon Cash yet? It's mainly for people without credit cards I guess, add cash to your Amazon account at participating stores like CVS, but they have a promo now where you get a $10 digital store credit with $50 deposit.

Umm, I gave up credit cards last Fall and buying shit on amazon is still pretty damn easy. I just buy Amazon gift cards at the grocery store all the while earning points towards gas discounts. You can obiously use your debit card as well but I try and not fall back on that. It would be nice if Amazon would add paypal or Visa checkout support.

Hell, buying anything online is still pretty easy. I think there has only been one or two websites I visited since that didn't take paypal or have readily available gift cards at the grocery store.

So, I'm not sure I understand the need for Amazon Cash.

Amazon Cash appears to be much easier than your giftcard route. No codes to scratch off and enter for example. Just seconds after I paid my $50 at CVS, got emails confirming the $50 in my account and the $10 credit.

Do the CVS locations in Target stores work for this?

I think those were specfically mentioned as not participating in the fine print in the link.

Bummer. Thanks for saving me the trip. We only have CVS around here in Target stores.

Thanks WSB, I'll probably make blind buys on the two Mark Wahlberg films.

Deepwater and Passengers were both rentals for me, but entertaining ones. Own Arrival digitally.

Still waiting for a drop on Hidden Figures.

Are either Passengers or Hacksaw Ridge worth a $10 blind buy? I still haven't seen Arrival and am grabbing that. I try to base my purchases on re-watchability.

I really liked Hacksaw Ridge.

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

I wanted to like Hacksaw Ridge initially and got through an hour of it, but the logic of a guy who didn't want to kill people as a religious belief (which is a good belief to have, btw), but yet was ok voluntarily joining a military that did kill people (where in the holy book does it say it's ok to join forces that kill others but if you're a medic...you're instantaneously absolved of moral responsibility)...seemed odd to me.

However, I will say a few friends liked it very much.

I thought Passengers was crap and just checked out the DVD of HR from the library for free, so I will watch it soon before blind buying it for $10.

Arrival is great, though.

Once Amazon dropped the price to $15, AWD had a couple sealed copies for $12.75, so I scooped up one of those. I thought the movie was good but not great, but I wanted to check out the 3D version.

Saw 'Passengers' y'day - terrible, pointless flick. Can't believe people get paid millions of dollars to star in such drivel. I understand movie experiences are subjective but really, there's got to be a line drawn somewhere towards meaningful cinema. What was the point of this flick ? It will LOOK terrific on 4K or even on BD, which is its only merit. Sorry, am just spontaneously commenting on it since I just saw it.
