An okay catalog effort. WB does port New Line's DVD features. Probably worth it at this price if you enjoy this Vince Vaughn/Jennifer Lopez thriller.

Yup, I went a little crazy on this.

I picked up everything OldBoy listed except swapping out Blown Away for Malice and getting Meteor and The Naked Face.

Fuck me, didn't really need to spend this money, but these are some good HD titles. And I want to support catalog titles like this getting BD releases.

Was thinking about Convoy, but I already spent enough.

I picked up River's Edge and Emerald Forest.

I wanted to pick up The Naked Face (just because I like Roger Moore) but I just don't want to blind buy a likely mediocre movie (from everything I have read). I could love it but hate spending that amount of money just to see.

It and a lot of Kino/Lorber releases are ones that I would like to be able to rent or stream...but many are impossible to find either way. Few are streaming and Netflix doesn't buy the BDs (or even have the old DVDs if they were released) of many of these films.

Netflix's buying of BDs sucks nowadays. They buy nothing like this or even Scream Factory releases.

I liked The Naked Face. But the last time I saw it was on VHS almost 30 years ago and for years there wasn't a decent DVD release of it, so I'm happy to get it in HD. It's a very different Roger Moore movie. His character is quite vulnerable. I believe it came at shortly after he made Octopussy, so it was still in the prime of his James Bond career. It's got a pretty good supporting cast with Elliott Gould, Anne Archer, Rod Steiger and Art Carney. Plus, hard to believe this was a Cannon films Golan-Globus production.

Overall, the pricing on these Kino titles were better for American shoppers during the Amazon Canada sale -- not entirely, but mostly -- so for Americans stocking up on more than a couple of titles the savings could've been significant.

In just about any larger order, the savings + no tax would've been greater than the added expense of shipping from Canada.

On the plus side, this U.S. sale includes closer discounts on titles that were still relatively new, and higher priced, during the Canadian sale, like Blown Away, Tales of Terror, Truck Turner, Deranged and probably a few others, but even there, the pricing would've been nearly the same, and you wouldn't pay the tax.

More of a plus: the new sale includes pre-orders like Satan Bug, Hornet's Nest, The Destructors, Busting and Defiance for $11.49, so those seem to be the real deals.

Any yes, i know in the end it all comes down to how many titles a person wants, speed of shipment, etc., but should this Kino sale become an annual thing, and should the Canadian dollar keep falling, it's probably worth keeping this info in mind for next year.

My Kino Lorber shipment just arrived. 8 of the 11 titles I ordered arrived same day. 9 1/2 hour turnaround since I ordered it this morning is not bad.
