More than a few of these Prime exclusives seem to be price matches from Best Buy or other places, such as the Star Trek Compendium (also on sale at BB for 19.99 this week). Though it looks like Amazon raised it to $28.xx today and its no longer a Prime exclusive.
And the AVERAGE consumer (i.e. not fanatics like us!) have largly gotten used to paying $5 delivered for most used common cd's & dvd's & no more then $8 for new. At some point people are going to all but have to switch to files due to the price of postage. What I find ironic, is the USPS is cutting there own throats with these increases. Where they have been cheaper then UPS/Fed Ex, etc is small parcels, international (they've already gotten so high on international that I sell almost nothing outside of the the USA; with a handling charge I add to cover lost shipments, 1 cd to Canada is now over $10, & over $14 anywhere else) & letters (email & texting have pretty much killed snail mail except for foreclosure notices required by law). UPS & Fed Ex are already cheaper on many non-media large packages. I hope this is a small increase. We'll see............ |

Yeah, it's Not Rated. Got the movie a few days ago, actually. Some really cool climbing scenes and cinematography overall.

There is going to be another yearly postage increase in January. Depending on the amount, it may finish off physical media. Even the price slashing online giants can only eat so much postage; & afaik, the only thing close to a moderately large national B&M left is Barnes & Noble.

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
Wow, that's a great price drop on many Kino's. Restraint being exercised.

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
Also, several of the Miyazaki titles, -"Castle In The Sky", "Howl's Moving Castle", and "My Neighbor Totoro" are at 12.99, which I think is a new low at Amazon (so to speak...).

They are matching Best Buy, there are still a couple they haven't yet though. Like Ponyo.

And how is this for a Prime Member. Ordered item on 10-02-15 (in stock) arrived on 10-14-15. Well at least they said it would arrive on 10-14-15. Guess when they shipped the item it was on 10-13-14.

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
A bunch of Kino Studio Classics Horror titles have also been reduced (or maybe they never went back up since the last Kino sale?):
MONSTER THAT CHALLENGED THE WORLD - $9.99 (also mentioned in Lizard's post) CRIMSON CULT - $11.49 BLACK SABBATH - $11.99 OBLONG BOX - $12.49 BURNT OFFERINGS - $12.49 HOUSE OF LONG SHADOWS - $12.49 TALES OF TERROR - $12.49 HEART OF MIDNIGHT - $12.49 NEEDFUL THINGS - $12.49 DERANGED - $13.99 PREMATURE BURIAL - $14.99 HOUSE OF 1,000 DOLLS - $14.99 X: THE MAN WITH THE X-RAY EYES - $14.99 SCISSORS - $14.99 ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU - $14.99 Interestingly enough, the Canadian Amazon site has these on sale as well, and assuming you bought more than three or four, the cost + shipping should be less once you factor in the U.S.-friendly exchange rate right now. These are in the same order as above for direct comparison, with U.S. dollar conversions in bold: MONSTER THAT CHALLENGED THE WORLD - $13.99 / 10.75 US (better price on U.S. site) CRIMSON CULT - $11.99 / 9.21 US BLACK SABBATH - $11.25 / 8.64 US OBLONG BOX - $12.99 / 9.98 US BURNT OFFERINGS - $14.49 / 11.13 US HOUSE OF LONG SHADOWS - $13.49 / 10.37 US TALES OF TERROR - $12.49 / 9.60 US HEART OF MIDNIGHT - $12.99 / 9.98 US NEEDFUL THINGS - $13.99 / 10.75 US DERANGED - $11.99 / 9.21 US PREMATURE BURIAL - $13.99 / 10.75 US HOUSE OF 1,000 DOLLS - $12.99 / 9.98 US X: THE MAN WITH THE X-RAY EYES - $13.49 / 10.37 US SCISSORS - $12.99 / 9.98 US ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU - $13.49 / 10.37 US Plus: JENNIFER - $12.49 / 9.60 US EVIL EYE - $14.99 / 11.51 US (vs. $16.99 on the U.S. site) BLACK SUNDAY - $10.49 / 8.05 US BLACK SUNDAY remastered - $13.49 / 10.37 US HARRY IN YOUR POCKET - $11.99 / 9.21 US Obviously, this will probably only be a better deal if you don't already have a bunch of these, and order perhaps four/five titles or more (?), so the savings still outweigh the shipping (which isn't excessive to the U.S. these days). Now that Kino's catalog is quite large, it probably won't be long before we see all of the titles in it hitting $10 on a regular basis, but for now, these deals are pretty reasonable on either side of the border. Also -- since someone always points it out -- the "ships in 2 to 4 weeks" notice that shows up on a small number of these titles on the Canadian site is NEVER accurate. In most cases, the package ships within the week, as in the U.S. |
Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
If anyone picks this up and doesn't want the UV code, I'll pay $4 for it.

Not sure what the story was there, but the fact that that was your original estimated date seems to indicate there was some kind of issue. Prime doesn't necessarily mean that you get everything in two days. Your being in Hawaii might have been a factor as well--not sure what kind of turnaround you usually get.
Also the site (slickdeals) where I seen this deal posted. Most of us placed our order around the same dat when the sale started. First person who posted they received there bag of candy was on Oct 4th. Ten days after I received my bag of candy. So I don't think there were any issues. Only issue they had were almost everyone got 1 bag instead of 6. Heck if they read the reviews of this particualr deal they would of seen the many 1 star reviews/complaints about only getting 1 bag of candy. They should of never sent out my order. But hey I got a free bag of candy to give out to the kiddies for Halloween. |

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray
This ever happen to you? I noted the lower prices on the Miyazaki titles and decided to order the one of the titles I didn't have. So I go to Amazon to put it in my cart and it says I bought it back in 2012 (for a whole lot more). I think that's the second time that happened in the last year or so. Honestly, I thought I had a pretty good bead on my inventory without keeping a list. I'm just glad Amazon has that feature, -and I wish a few other sites did.
