Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I forgot to mention, my BL had a number of used blus for $7. Mediocre titles.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

The most confusing part on a recent trip was the pricing on the same title - one copy at $1.25, same title also clearance priced at $2.50 and the same title in the new display bin at full $5 price. Guessing that is due to different stocking SKUs but a frustrating experience when all piled together

Picked up Rampage (BD+DVD) and Hugo (BD+DVD) for $5/$2.50 a couple of days ago.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I'm not sure if this is of help to anyone, but I just received a $10 off $20 coupon in an e-mail with a subject of "We've missed you!". It expires 6/4

Maybe I just received it because I haven't bought anything in a while, but you may want to check. The timing would be perfect in that there's a current 20% sale going on. Unfortunately, the reason why I haven't bought anything recently is there has been nothing new added in recent weeks.

Thanks, got the email and would have deleted it if not for your post. Like you, haven't bought anything there in ages.

I wish there was a way to hide threads from the "New Posts" search. All of our area Big Lots closed and this thread is all the sads.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Went in over the weekend and found my store had some new things, so ended up using my 10 off 20 coupon.

Before I Fall - $3
The Gambler - Marked down to $1.25
A Kind of Murder - Marked down to $0.75 (I had bypassed this so many times because of poor reviews, but at this price with a coupon I'll give it a watch to check for any redeeming qualities)
Rango - Marked down to $1.25
Secondhand Lions - $3

There were a few other new titles which I already owned, as well as some other marked down stuff I've bought before. If anyone is interested, there were also DVDs of some shows for $8. I recall seeing The Flash (S1 & S2), Supergirl (S2), DC's Legends of Tomorrow (S1 & S2), Riverdale (S1)

Sorry, story, for the thread bump.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Surprised to see Secondhand Lions and Mother's Day BD for $3 each. "The Flash (S1 & S2), Supergirl (S2), DC's Legends of Tomorrow (S1 & S2)" are shows that are all on Netflix and IMO well worth the time to watch.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Supposedly, Wa state Big Lots are 20% off everything through tomorrow. I say supposedly because last week the cashier rejected a current 20% off coupon they emailed me.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I went in today. Lots of movies, but I couldn't find a thing I wanted at 20% off. I bought a little bit of food. Seems like BL has given up on classic (pre 1965) film, which is mainly what I'm interested in.

Pretty much the same here. I *did* purchase a copy of The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part because it came with a "unique" Lego of Emmet's 'Piece' Offering (which was worth the $4):

Saw a copy of Tumbledown recently for $5. That was a new find for me.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Lansing-area Big Lots had deluxe sets of Casablanca and Singing in the Rain for $20 each. Never saw any sets like that at BL before.

Cool! I already have the DE Casablanca on DVD, so can't justify $20, but still cool. It would be nice to see BL start carrying more classics again.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I'm always intrigued by anything new like the set mentioned above. I find it interesting that the price points for their media keep changing.

The thread bump reminded me that I saw some new stuff at a store recently.

Fiddler on the Roof (40th Anniversary) - $7
Godzilla (the 2014 film?) - $4
The Hangover Trilogy - $10
Magnificent Seven Collection - $10

There were a few other films at the $4 price as well. Can't remember which ones.

DVD:
Castle Rock: Seasons 1 & 2 - $7 each
Fresh Prince: Season 2 - $7
Friends: Season 2 - $7
Fuller House: Seasons 1-3 - $7 for all 3
The Scorpion King Collection (5 films) - $10
Watchmen - $7
Will Rogers Collection, Vol. 1 (4 films) - $10
Stargate: Atlantis 2 season pack - $10

I wouldn’t mind upgrades of Casablanca and Singing. Haven’t seen anything that nice at Big Lots in ages.

singing in the rain has had a 4K release, Casablanca will definitely get one. Hence they’re getting rid of these swag sets. Once upon a time they were hot collector items (I have most of those Warner sets), not so much any more

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

My nearest BL didn’t have any of those Deluxe sets, but they had everything else that Cardsfan mentioned. Kinda doubtful, but I really hope we start seeing more box-sets appearing like the Will Rogers Collection. It was a trip seeing that old, bulky box-set in stores again!

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

BL had the 2 Rogers sets a few years back. I still haven't opened volume 2, lol! I checked & I have 2 Casablanca's: The big DVD box & the blu with African Queen.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Big Lots for this week ending on July 30th advertises buy 2 get 1 free for dvds (it does include blu-rays and closeout items). I made some purchases up here in the stix of NY and can attest to it

What has not been mentioned so far is that they have the The Scorpion King 5-movie collection on blu-ray (and dvd) for $10.

They also had assorted LP’s (yes, records) for $19.99. Titles that I recall include Foo Fighters Concrete and Gold, The Best of Janis Joplin and Simon & Garfunkel’s Greatest Hits.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I was there yesterday. Only thing worth mentioning at the local store was yet another Wizard of Oz SE at $15. 5 discs (blu, 3d blu, dvd, & 2 extras discs; blu vs dvd not stated + a 6 years expired download code). My store had no other significant box sets & no vinyl. $20's no great bargain on vinyl unless it's an audiophile label like APO or MFSL.

Went in today and saw most of these. I already own copies of any of the others listed I'd normally be interested in getting. Yes, it's the 2014 version of Godzilla. They also had a Resident Evil "Complete Collection" (6 films) DVD release for $7.

I also saw, and purchased:
Krypton - Seasons 1 & 2 @ $7/each
DC's Legends of Tomorrow - Season 2 @ $8
Fuller House - Seasons 1-3 for my 11yo granddaughter (she likes the series - go figure).

I didn't see either the DVD or BR of The Scorpion King collection but did see the 2nd and 3rd of that series on BR.

They didn't have either of the "Deluxe" sets (Casablanca or Singing in the Rain) which was OK as I already own the "disc only" releases for both and don't "need" more "box-o-junk" stuff cluttering up the place. Of course I'd have likely purchased them if they'd had them so I guess that's a good thing, eh?
