Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I recently scored the bourne collection after was not sure to get but lucky was able get next day since not sure traffic really buy any media much now since i see it a mess kinda from anyone try find certain titles anytime, but by chance leave good stuff behind and guess now some or many only really get media to either collect what real want or to resell later anytime. saw the planet apes collection, but wish was the new franchise in ways. they do have variety good stuff but it all depends how bad i want stuff at time.

They did have a handful of titles a while back, most notably E.T. I think I scored Everest for $5.

The BL "superstore" closest to my house has totally emptied about 20% of the floor space in 1 section at the front of the store. Wonder if they're shutting down soon?

The one near me did that too recently. They used the space to create a "furniture showcase" area. It's a franchise-wide attempt to look a little more upscale.

Several months back one of my contacts here told me BL corporate is doing upgrades/remodels at many of the stores along with layout changes - that one was included. They did a similar deal before starting a massive layout change. Still no new flooring, ceiling tiles, paint, shelving, etc. but they're not finished and that empty area moves around the store based on what's getting changed next. That could be what's happening at your store.

The stores near me in NJ all did that - and filled the space with furniture. IMHO just an an inconvenience. Now You have have to walk further back into the store to get to the stuff You're going there for (movies, electronics, food, etc).

Yeah, my store is new and took over an old Toys-r-Us. It was clean and shiny from the start, but have recently expanded the center section for a lot more furniture.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Yea, my place did a whole change around by moving alot that was to the left side to the middle and so left side now all furniture stuff and what was in front is now moved to back as for food stuff, and stuff that was on left like decor and misc house wears was moved to front so u gotta walk past house towels and misc to get to the foods and cleaning stuff. media was in left and now to right in like corner kinda on a med size rack and so if no buyers stuff is just either stored right or pilled up till anything sells lol. i dont go much but have idea what got and where so get out sooner lol. place kinda mapped n brain so not be too lost lol.

Here's the link for the coupon as it appears you'll need it for any one of the 3 days:

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I should probably know this, but don't offhand---I have a $5 off $15 coupon and pretty sure they stack with the 20% off. So do I need to make sure I have $19-20 stuff in my hands so the 20% off doesn't knock me below $15?

Yes, those $5 off $15 coupons stack. They take the 20% off *before* applying those coupons so make sure the price *after* 20% off is high enough to trigger the coupon. $18.75 minimum to get both discounts (assuming they do the % properly). I'd go for $19-$20 just in case...

in my experience, they take the $5 off first, then apply the 20% discount. One time I had a cashier refuse to stack both discounts, even though I showed her on the $5 off coupon where it said you could. There was an angry mob behind me in a long line, so I just let it go. Every other time (probably about 8 times total) they have stacked them though.

I once had 2 of those coupons during a 20% off sale. I had what I thought was enough to allow both to trigger at the $15 off $75 price point (roughly $110 of stuff in the cart). When I checked out the price didn't seem quite right so I checked the receipt when I got home. The 20% came off first, then one of the coupons still triggered at $15 off $75 but that took the total below the $75 threshold and the 2nd became a $5 off $15. I'd have spent less had I had another $5 item in the cart as both coupons would have triggered $15 off $75. What made it worse is I asked at the checkout and was assured the coupons came off first. It *may* make a difference in the order they are scanned but I didn't pay attention to that part. At this point I let them do the 20% off and then go "Oh... I have this, too!" and hand them the coupon(s).

$110 @ 20% off = $88
$15 off $75 = $73
$5 off $15 = $68

vs.

$115 @ 20% off = $92
$15 off $75 = $77
$15 off $75 = $62

It'll be interesting to see if they've changed that - I do have a coupon I intend to redeem over the weekend.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

a ton of restock in one of the stores but its all the same titles as before, with a single steelbook copy of PJ's King Kong instead of the pop art version. That being said, how is it that hundreds of DVDs keep getting added to the sale shelf all the time ? who's still buying DVDs ?? also its a pity that there's so much theft and pilfering that goes on, a few of the BDs were opened and either the disc or the digital HD sheet was missing

popped into the Goodwill next door and got a new copy of NatGeo's 'Living in the age of airplanes' BD for $2.99.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I went today and picked up a few titles:

X-men 2 disc Blu-ray on clearance for $2.50
X2 X-men United 2 disc Blu-ray on clearance for $2.50
The Big Lebowski on Blu-ray for $5

They don't have digital copies though. I got them to replace my DVD copies. $8 total after 20% for all three isn't too bad.

I was looking for To Kill A Mockingbird and couldn't find it. I saw one copy after Christmas when I was visiting family. I should have picked it up, but I had already spent a lot of money on Christmas and decided to wait on it. I'll probably be kicking myself for not getting it now.

I also ended up getting two tubs Peanut Butter Filled Pretzels and some Body wash.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Finally some new stock at my local BL, though a lot more DVDs than BDs.

Picked up BD's of The War Wagon (only copy they had) & The Girl On The Train for $5 apiece & on DVD the Kirk Douglas Centennial Collection for $10.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

My store had a handful of new titles but nothing to speak of. A dozen or so copies of the same 5 or 6 new ones. Some restock DVDs that, based on the titles, look to be some that were found buried in a warehouse and should have gone out years ago (including a few MC PD sets of stuff that they've not carried in a few years).

My $5 off $15 coupon came off *after* the 20% was applied - but I also let them scan the 20% coupon first.

Who is buy DVDs? I’d guess Big Lots customers are in that camp.
