I don't know if I would go that far, I watched it last night and was a bit underwhelmed.
Night before I watched Decision Before Dawn from 1951 and that movie is just a superior movie ,so that may have influenced my overall enjoyment of Where Eagles Dare. Also not one of the better prints on Blu that I have seen, at times it seemed a little too dark.

Yeah, no offense but...I've yet to see WED but I'm sure it's still not the best WWII film yet. I'm sure I'm going to enjoy it but as far the best? Maybe in value of entertainment but as a critical break down of a film...I dunno about that. I'll watch it tonight for sure though. Bought so many BDs that I'm trying to catch up w/ them. That is a first for me. I've never been behind on watching my films but now I am.

Where Eagles Dare is certainly in my top two or three WWII flicks, FWIW.

I just got a code in my email from amazon for a free ticket to see A-team, Knight and Day, or Predators from fox video, and seeing as Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Man on Fire are the only fox videos that I have bought recently and it just shipped 2 days ago I am going to assume it was from this one. So if this is confirmed then you get a 9 dollar ticket and this movie for 10 bucks which makes it an amazing deal. Neither mentions the ticket. Can anyone confirm which one it might be if they've gotten either?

I posted a day or two in this thread about Mr. and Mrs. Smith giving the free ticket and it says it in the check out process if it is still active

They showed this and Kelly's Heroes on HDNet movies last night. what a coincidence or was it?

Just reminded me of this double feature on Blu.

Yeah, I recorded it, since I didn't pick up the Blu.

I've noticed that happens a lot ... an older movie either is shown on one of those non-premium movie channels just before or just after release on Blu.

This is becoming disturbing. Which is why I have all of my HD DVD titles.

Interesting ... it is $14.99 at Best Buy. I heard rumors some versions might move with Movie Cash. Can anyone confirm that?

(Yes, I am aware of the DNR debate.)

Probably not the thread for this, but as a relatively new Blu collector, I'd appreciate a pointer to any lists out there that indicate which titles have had DNR applied.

I've never seen a list, and besides, it's all subjective. A bit of DNR could be a good thing sometimes. Best bet is to read a couple reviews before you buy anything.

Actually, even without this issue, one should always read reviews before buying any disc. There are all kinds of issues that happen with some releases/pressings. Doesn't everyone do this?

I'd be willing to bet that most, if not all Blu-ray releases have some amount of DNR applied. It's excessive DNR that you need to worry about.
