I just have a hard time believing that he let it happen to this thing, was there any reaction from him on this thing?

Track down the OOP UK Blu. No extras, but the best A/V IMO & no DNR.

I have the HD DVD German Steelbook of T2. Looks quite nice. And the movie does, too. :D

I bought Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Mystery Science theater 3000 XVI limited edition and it said "This purchase qualifies you for a certificate valid for one admission to see the movie "A-Team", "Knight & Day", or "Predators" through August 31, 2010 at participating theaters. When your item ships, we will send you an e-mail with instructions to redeem.

So I think it was Mr. and Mrs smith that made it qualify but I couldn't find anything about it.

Isn't A Scanner Darkly being re-released in September though with, I assume, High Definition audio?

According to the Digital Bits, it's the exact same BD released in 2007.

Kelly's Heroes/Where Eagles Dare is now up to $24.99 at Amazon. Full list price. I swear the one I want is the only disc they have with absolutely no discount off MSRP. Snooze ya lose. I should have ordered it at $9.99 but I balked at finding something else to get free shipping and by then it was too late.

I waited too long as well.

But I try to never have the 'needing other items to get free shipping' excuse again. No, I don't think Prime is worth the $, but I try to always keep 12 or so low priced 'sort-of-want' DVDs or household necessities in my saved-for-later cart at all times. Then, when I want to act on a DVD/BD deal, I just add a couple of those over to get to $25.

A lot of studios will be doing this. I don't see many going back and adding lossless unless it's being re-releases for a new sequel/remake. Mission Impossible is a likely canidate when 4 comes out.

Movies get re-released all the time. New Coverart, Tie-ins, free tickets etc. They don't always have to change the disc in anyway.

I do the same thing and did manage to snag Kelly's Heroes/Where Eagles Dare for $9.99; it arrived yesterday.

Edit: Watched Kelly's Heroes last night, for the first time in many years. It was fun, I had forgotten that
Spoiler:
they become "heroes" in the view of the general because their bank heist leads to a major push through the German lines, which was amusing.
Certainly worth the $5.

Never seen KH..and damn does it have a very fun intro. Love it like crazy. I'd never seen it but always wanted to. Now to see Where Eagles Dare...

You're in for a treat with Where Eagles Dare -- Richard Burton is the real kickass action hero in that one, with Eastwood taking on the silent sidekick role. Great movie.

JimRochester 06-23-10 07:37 PM

Re: Amazon.com Discounts and Deals on Blu-ray

Both very good movies. KH is not an action/comedy but there are some humorous characters in there with Don Rickles and Donald Sutherland. Where Eagles Dare has a character that you're not quite sure who's side he's on.

I buy so few any more I don't have very many on my wishlist. The few others I wanted were in my birthday list for my wife so I had to be careful what I ordered.

Ditto here, but with film books. I've got about two dozen in my save-for-later cart. They're usually 30% off anyway. I ordered Gattaca for $9.99 last night, and it's back up to $15.49 now, so that was a close call there.

Eagles is the best world war II movie!

I forgot about the sale. Guess it doesn't matter since I still have the original Gattaca DVD. Such an under appreciated movie. It's just a matter of time before it get's back down to $9.99 again.

Gattaca can be found nearly everywhere for 9.99 or less. I've seen it for $9-$10 within the last week at Target, FYE, Costco...

Yeah, I just have to stop debating whether to double dip on this one.

I think the current round has 7/10 as the end date.
