I think the direct is going to convince me to not buy the game because I think this is a fighting game on wheels vs a racing game.

Okay, that is useful, for some reason that's what I was thinking. I'll let them use their own copies of the game then.

The kids are trying this now and it seems like both Primary and Secondary accounts can only purchase one copy of the digital game. There doesn't seem to be a way to tie the purchase to an individual profile and purchase a second copy of the game.

Really? When you go to the eshop to redeem the code, don't you have to login as one profile or another?

Okay, it seems like they each redeemed their own codes but when my younger daughter as a secondary account went to launch her own copy, it requested to be locally linked to my older daughter's Switch 2 even though they each have their own games. I'm having trouble getting quick responses from them, one is in Atlanta and the other is in LA and I'm in the Chicago area.

Sounds like the older one just unlinked my younger daughter from the primary account so now she can play her Pokemon game which is all she was worried about. We are getting together next weekend so they'll be able to relink with the local link which hopefully should solve the problem with running the Primary / Secondary relationship and still allow each of them access to their own Pokemon games.

Hopefully I can confirm with my older daughter that her system is running fine after being unlinked

I want to be mad about having to buy two copies of pokemon to do what you're trying to do but then remember that's how it's always been. It's genius really. It just hurts a lot less when the game was $30 each instead of $70.

Well there was a period of time with the switch 1 where you could play a digital game on two consoles (one primary, one secondary with the primary account) at the same time. You'd still need to buy two games if they put out two games and you wanted the other pokemon, though.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25

Yeah, my daughters have always shared a single digital copy of a Switch 1 game. My OLED switch is #3 and I use my daughter's login and that prevents us from playing a game in the cloud at the same time, like I can't play Yoshi while she is playing Pokemon, so I picked up a couple physical cartridges to play whenever we had a conflict playing at the same time.

I think my kids got their Switch 2s running. They both did the system transfer from their old Switch and they said that they didn't have to enter any code for Pokemon, it was already in their library so not sure how that worked. Just the problem with the primary/secondary linking blocking the secondary from playing her game until they could verify the link locally, so hopefully we can resolve that next week.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25

For MKW there were two different combo packs. One where the system was already preloaded with MKW and another that had a pack in code with a sticker instead of printed artwork denoting the combo. So the fact the Pokemon combo had it preloaded tells me that's how Nintendo wanted it in the first place. They probably realized the combo pack was going to sell a lot more than just the console late in the process so just produced stickers and code sheets for a late production run for MKW.

I'm still mad that Nintendo doesn't allow you to have different islands on Animal Crossing on your different profiles. That's just stupid.

Someone must have told the Kirby guy he was dry as burnt toast in the first one because man he's on fire!

You can have different islands, they just have to be on different consoles. Still dumb, just clarifying because PerryD's case is separate consoles.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25

I wasn't going to get Kirby Air Riders because I thought it would be repetitive but on today's Direct they revealed a ton of content, and he kept saying he's glad they got this in or that in so I think they held back to make sure they got stuff in before announcing. Whether I get it or not depends on the demo. So far leaning yes. But I was all gung-ho about Crossworlds and cancelled my preorder because of the demo.

Announced in today’s hour-long Air Riders Direct, the Global Test Ride event takes place on two different weekends and - much like the game itself - is obviously only on Switch 2. The exact times are as follows:
  • Nov. 8 at 12:00 A.M. PT until 6:00 A.M. PT
  • Nov. 8 at 4:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. PT
  • Nov. 9 at 7:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. PT
  • Nov. 15 at 12:00 A.M. until 6:00 A.M. PT
  • Nov. 15 at 4:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M PT
    • Nov. 16 at 7:00 A.M. PT until 1:00 P.M. PT

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25

has there been any more talk about adding some good games to the GameCube catalog? I mean it was a big push to include that and we have what 5-6 games only. They have to do more.

The Nintendo Store finally has an app for Apple and Android out now. You can browse new releases and sales as well as watch recent Nintendo Direct shows. It's still not great -- if you want to read up or purchase a game, the app actually redirects you to the game page on your phone's default browser rather than allowing you to buy in-app. Still it's a more convenient way to navigate the store.

That buying stuff probably has more to do with Apple and company charging for purchases through the app. I did see someone say they had like game playing history back to the DS though, which if true is cool.

Nice idea, but I've never had an issue browsing and/or buying games via their website on my phone.

Really? I almost exclusively use dekudeals to find stuff because both the switch store and the website kinda suck. Maybe they improved it?

Maybe. I have my PayPal linked to the account. Buying games is super easy and it auto-downloads to my console. Ready to play when I fire it up.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25

There is a Play Activity link which is pretty cool. I only see Switch and Switch 2 Activity on it. I might have to link up my account somehow to see 3DS.

I don't mind having to buy games on a browser, but it sucks that you have to open the links to even see if you already purchased a game or when a current sale on a game is going to end.

It doesn't specify which game(s) are thirty bucks, deceptive advertising.
