$100 eShop credit for $85 @ New Egg. Rare deal better than Costco's usual discount. Good for buying vouchers if you need two.

Yup! The social media post I was referencing was poorly worded (at least for my not-quite-awake brain). Sorry about that.

Thanks for sharing. I bit. I already have $30 in eShop credit I received as a gift and was going to use it toward Bananza, so for me it was like spending an extra $45 to get $60, though I have no idea what I'll use it on. The only Switch 2 game on the horizon that I want is MP4, and my Best Buy preorder from January 2020 seems to still be holding.

Screw it, I did it

I was up before 6am so I checked Target and it was in stock. I have a ton of stuff to do this morning but I should be able to swing by before noon.

It's already out of processing and ready for pickup! And they don't open for another hour.

I'd buy that for $200k. 200,000 dollars for stapled Switch 2. The console from GameStop is breaking records at a charity auction

Yeah, so.... Played about five minutes of MKW and then played speedstorm for a lot longer than that

Why is speedstorm so much more fun on this thing than the pc or my windows handheld?

Strange Brigade is a pretty fun 3rd person shooter that is on sale for pretty cheap right now.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25

Well I wasn't sure if I was going to keep it or not but after putting in over 8 hours this weekend alone on Mario Kart World, it's a keeper. I'll just get first party titles for it and any picross not available on PC. This Thursday Bananza, then next week Thursday Jamboree, and Kirby Air Riders are the ones I'm getting for sure.

I was surprised that I've actually played around all modes, both solo and online. In five years of owning Mario Kart 8 Deluxe I played it less than I played MKW this weekend. I never ended races in MKD8 because it was so boring, but I'm doing courses over and over and over again. I love EVERYthing about it.

I like to have the TV in the background while I do the map and just chill. I like to just get on a highway and drive around and then go off the beaten path if I see something interesting. I like to use the bowser kart with different characters because it's my offroad vehicle My favorite part so far is gathering different outfits.

I have one car left to unlock.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25

Grabbed $200 eshop credit for $180 which will cover the three games I'm going to get and got Mario Party Jamboree for Switch 1 and the upgrade pack and Bananza ready to go on release date. Fired up Mario Party Jamboree and I think I will spend a lot of time in that game. Trying all the mini-games first one at a time.

Most of the naysayers haven't even played MKW yet. There are definitely some downsides to MKW, like the intermission routes to your final destination. I'm really not a fan of that. Give me three laps on the course itself. But a lot of what the naysayers were complaining about; you're just going to grind all the time, grinding and tricking has taken all the skill out of MK, it's way too easy. Are all completely wrong. Grinding and wall jumping are incredibly technical to do and the shortcuts you can take are extremely skill based. The skill depth of MKW are just unbelievable. This game will have even better longevity than MK8. World records will constantly be beaten years from now as people find more and more ways to shave off time. I still love MK8 but MKW is certainly a worthy successor.

Literally the only games I can't play are Switch-only games. That's it. And that's mostly Nintendo first party games because third party tend to be released on the PC.

I'd have to put in 500 hours on Mario Kart World to get my money's worth. That's 15 minutes a day every day for 8 years.
If you really want to think of it that way spread the cost of the system and accessories across all the hours you spend on it. That should help with your cost calculation. No need to put in 500 hours in MKW

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25

So I fired up mk8d and I don't know why but now I find it fun I couldn't even finish one race in the sw1 and now I've done two cups in the sw2. Starting Animal Crossing which I barely touched in the sw1 but it's so engrossing in the sw2. I told my husband I don't know what it is about this stupid machine that makes every game I play on it fun even Speedstorm is more fun than on the pc or windows handheld. Just ordered up Odyssey and both Kirbys and Pokemon Violet at the library. Violet is the only one with a hold time. If I like it and play it a lot in the three weeks I have once I get it I may buy it.

I'm not sure everyone looks at the exchange forum in VG, but if you need an 1TB express microSD for SW2, I have a Lexar sealed one for $140. pm if interested.

No need for extra space, I can only play a handful of games at a time I'm not even sure I'll be getting enough games in the eight years to fill up the internal space.

There are a couple of pretty good deals via Walmart right now, if you want one Deb. 512GB should be enough for anyone.

I have the onn one. It seems to be working fine.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25

I think I already have XC ones I've bought before for other things and Amazon orders confirms it (whether I can find it ....). I'll look around for it. But I don't play games like the Zeldas, I play mostly Picross So far getting 2 eshop games and 4 first-party games, internal memory should be enough. I decided to not transfer from my SW1 and just start from scratch and just download stuff I'm actually playing.

You don't unless you just bought them. Express cards are very new and required for the Switch 2. You can't throw any Micro SD into it.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25

You almost certainly don't need one. The unit has a lot of base memory anyways. But the memory card you have is probably not compatible with the Switch 2. Has to be an Express SD. XC just means large capacity.

This wouldn't be it?

I still don't think I'll need a memory card. I have Mario Kart World, Bananza, and Fast Fusion loaded along with Mario Party Jamboree Switch 1, MK8D, AC, a picross game, and all the Nintendo Online Emulators and I'm at about 25% used. For now I'm only getting the wheelchair game, the upgrade pack for Jamboree, and Kirby Air Riders 2 and any picross not on the PC. Once I'm at 90% or so if it ever happens I'll think about getting one or just clean up anything I'm not using anymore.

That will not work with a Switch 2, no. But agreed that you probably don't need one. I think DK comes in at only around 10gb. Only a few games like Cyberpunk or Madden take up a ton of space currently.
