I'm in the same boat in that respect. More typically, I mean "portability" in the sense of, like, gaming in bed, or gaming on the couch next to my wife while she's playing on the PS5/Xbox or something.

That's when I use the PS Portal.

Demo of navigating menues with mouse controls

I doubt I'd ever use that, but I guess it's a cool option to have.

That's awesome. I really hope mouse controls are easy to use and implemented well. I am concerned with how comfortable it would be to use the mouse controls with the joycon. But just going from mouse controls to joycon in the middle of the game just by turning the joycon to mouse mode is really cool. I really wonder if it will be a legitimate superior way to play shooter games on a console like the combination gyro controls are now.

I still love playing portable mostly because there's more competition for my tv than there is for my switch, but man I'm going to have to see a bunch of reviews to convince me that some of these bigger games run smoothly undocked. Especially if they take a bunch of space that I won't initially have.

Six years and five months Nintendo online user and haven't gotten an email invitation from Nintendo. Now I am glad I waited two hours in the pouring rain to get one at GameStop.

What memory card is everyone going to use? I need to go ahead and buy one. Thank you.

When did you sign up for the email? My impression was that it was first to sign up first to get the invite and it wasn't based on other factors? But maybe I was mistaken. I still didn't get my email yet either.

I never received an invite to purchase either. I've been subbed to their Switch online offering since the day it went live. I've checked their website a few times while logged in and both item pages still say Invite Required.

As long as I'm able to find one by the time Metroid launches, I'll be fine. Plenty to play between now and then.

I am leaning towards a 512 Sandisk Ultra PLUS MicroSDXC UHS-I one from Best Buy for $55. (I think that will work on the system.)
Can't see too pressing a reason to get a 1TB one for $120 at this time, even if I want to play my many digital first-party Switch games on it now.

Is that a MicroSD Express though? The Sandisk I see on BB that's compatible with switch 2 is a hundred bucks (and it's sold out)

The Sandisk 128 is 49.99 and the Nintendo branded 256 is 59.99.

Isn't that what SDXC means? I can't find a definitive answer...
Yeah. Wrong item. Okay cancelled

Interesting, there is an optional 90% charging limit to save battery life. That's what we Tesla owners do regularly with our cars (at 80%).

Mine will stay docked, so I'll definitely use that feature.

Limited Run Games confirmed that any numbered LRG release (as opposed to titles they just distribute) will be fully on-cartridge rather than Game Keys.

Nintendo posted a list of their games with free updates to "improve playability" for the Switch 2. This is only a list of first-party titles:

ARMS
Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics
Game Builder Garage
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
Pokemon Scarlet
Pokemon Violet
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury
Super Mario Odyssey
At least in Japan, Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is getting a Switch 2 upgrade for 300 JPY (~$2 USD). Nice to see that not everything will be $10+!

Reminder, the expected battery life of the 2 is worse than the Switch Lite. Take off another 10% and big yikes.

Aren't there some that are also "free" with the expanded switch online subscription?

There are two, at least that've been announced so far: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

In answer to Redbill's specific question, yes they are free. Or at least as "free" as the games Sony "gives away" with Playstation Plus every month.
In other words if you have the NSO expansion, you are already renting the enhancements, so no need to drop $10 on them.

To expand on what Maxflier said:

Included with Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members get access to the following upgrade packs at no additional cost! You must have the physical or digital version of the game to download its upgrade pack. Active membership required.
(and “the following upgrade packs” are just BotW and TotK.)

Got an email from Best Buy saying that most stores will have limited inventory for the midnight launch.
So anyone still looking to score a system, maybe that is an option for you.

There will be Nintendo-licensed 256 GB ones available for launch. Currently available for pre-order at Target or Best Buy. Since I can't find a 512 one to order anywhere, I'm considering it. But $60 for 256 doesn't sound like a good deal.
