Alright, here's an upgrade question :
When a PS4 disc game got upgraded to PS5, the entire content of the disc became meaningless and you had to download a new version of the game online (and then had to put your PS4 disc in the drive to confirm ownership of the game). How will it work with the upgraded Zelda game carts? Will it be the same sort of system with the whole game downloaded digitally, or will the upgrade just be a digital texture pack?

I'm not sure we know? I don't even know how much space we need to prepare for this (like is onboard memory enough? I would assume so or there will be lots of angry customers)

It’s 256 minus the OS and the highest I’ve seen a game listed at is Split Fiction at just over 70gb. MKW is under 25. Most people should be fine to start with onboard only unless they specifically want SF, Madden, and Cyberpunk all downloaded at launch.

it's just too bad it won't work with all Switch games. it can only be used through the virtual GameCube games that will be added. They should have made it multi-game functional.

Got mine late last night as well. Don't care if I get it at launch; just happy I have a valid order in place now.

And Amazon had 128gb Express cards in stock. Picked one up. Will be plenty of room for me since I have no need to re-purchase any of the games coming to the system now that it's capable.

Dude, none of us have the console yet. We don't have the answer. Re-posting a quote of your question won't change that.

And answers might be slow in coming. Apparently Nintendo isn't providing press with hardware until right before launch. So even proper reviews of launch games (including third-party titles) might not be ready on day one.

I thought some have gotten it already. I saw American fellows testing it out and stuff.

It's new due to GC games being available on their online service with the Switch 2. I'd imagine it's very similar to a Wavebird, probably with just some improvements to battery life. Wavebird was damn near perfect already, IMO.

As far as I know, most/all of the impressions have been from Nintendo-hosted events. I don't think any press has a Switch 2 (provided by Nintendo, at least) in their home or office.

From The Game Business (Christopher Dring's new outlet after GameIndustry.biz was gutted):

The games press will not be receiving Nintendo Switch 2 consoles until just before it comes out, The Game Business has learned.

Some media have even been warned they will not have their machine until launch day. Nintendo has told journalists that this is due to the requirement of a significant day one patch.

“It’s really frustrating,” said one editor. “We will need to cover Switch 2 while also working across Summer Game Fest. How are we supposed to do that?”

But the reality is that there will be very few, if any, reviews of Switch 2 or its games until after the machine has come out.

The situation has stunned some of the third-party publishers planning Switch 2 launch titles. Key third-party launch games include Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt Red, Split Fiction from EA, Civilisation VII from 2K Games, Hitman World of Assassination from IO Interactive, Street Fighter 6 from Capcom and Sonic X Shadows Generations from Sega.

One PR boss told me they feel they have “something special” for the launch of Switch 2 for those that “want something else in addition to Mario Kart”.

“But the lack of independent critical validation is going to make it very hard for us. Maybe we would have been better off waiting a few weeks.”
