Re: Astro Bot (9/6/2024: PlayStation 5)
Damn, that sounds good. I could never 100% anything. Except the one. I will always treasure 100%ing Red Dead Redemption 1. Ah, such a glorious triumph that was. I remember one you had to complete was killing at least one of all 100 or so species of animal in the game. Man, did I overdue it. Tried playing it again, but was just not happening. I was over saturated.

PSA:
Some folks online (including the GameSpot reviewer) are saying that the game does not save your progress throughout, between levels… only when you I’m not really willing to test this either, as I don’t want to lose progress. I already usually quit and shut down that way anyway. skip to 10:55 in this video: Edit: holy shit, it’s true. You have to go to the PS5 dashboard and close out the game or it does not save any progress. What the actual fuck. I confirmed by playing for almost two hours.
So if, for some reason, you turn your PS5 off without closing the game, or you have a power outage or a crash, or if you use Rest mode and come back to it, there’s some risk of losing any progress you made since your last confirmed save. how does this even pass QC? |
Re: Astro Bot (9/6/2024: PlayStation 5)
This is the first time I’ve played Astro (never got into Playroom) and I’m enjoying it a lot. It’s fun and quirky and adorable. Sony really knocked it out of the park. I played for an hour and had to stop. So addicting.
Plus my kids love it so it’s a bonus. |

Also, do you have to play Astro’s playroom prior to this new game? I know certain bots you find in AP moves over to new game, but is this a big deal and what happens if you don’t play AP? |

how do you close the game via dashboard? I’ve never done that before and I certainly don’t want to get screwed. Thanks in advance.

Re: Astro Bot (9/6/2024: PlayStation 5)
My game crashed during playing a “secret” level that I had just unlocked. I reloaded and I had all my progress up until that level.

Re: Astro Bot (9/6/2024: PlayStation 5)
We had a power blip this morning while my son was playing and he lost all his progress from this morning. Couldn't believe how that was possible.

Sounds like the game is bringing in nostalgia even in unexpected ways. |

When you have the game selected on the dashboard, hit the Option button (top right next to the center pad) and choose Close Game.

Re: Astro Bot (9/6/2024: PlayStation 5)
to me that no save thing seems like a serious bug. i hope there is a patch very soon. i'm almost scared to start bc i don't want to lose my stuff just in case something happens. what a fuck up for such a fucking good game (based on replies).

Re: Astro Bot (9/6/2024: PlayStation 5)
I find it interesting that some people were excited enough about this game to buy Astro Bot but never played Astro's Playroom because they are basically the exact same thing (With Astro Bot being a celebration of PlayStation characters and Playroom being more a celebration of Sony's systems and accessories) just Playroom was 1/3 the length and given to you for free. I find it to be a good example of hype around a game affecting purchasing. Definitely go back and play Playroom if you enjoy Astro Bot.

Re: Astro Bot (9/6/2024: PlayStation 5)
The game save issue sucks but it shouldn’t stop anyone from playing. Just be cautious.
Playroom doesn’t need to be played before this either, but it should definitely be played. Best free game to come with a console since Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt. |
Re: Astro Bot (9/6/2024: PlayStation 5)
Again I'm not seeing the bug, even with a weird game crash. Not sure why some are seeing it and others aren't.
In any case, all you need to do is every few levels (or every level if you 100% it), quit out to the Main Menu, then jump back in. |

if you do that, aren't you not saving your game? when you play a game and then go home menu and jump back in, it's like the quick resume function on XBOX. PS has that too, but if you are not closing game like has been reported how are you saving your progress when you fully turn off PS after playing Astro Bot?

With your crash, it could be that the specific crash still wrote the save to the SSD which is entirely possible, but there are dozens of people on other forums that have confimed the issue. I just played again for about 2 hours, yet before closing the game, my local and cloud saves both showed a timestamp from last night. After closing the game, both updated correctly. |

I haven't even finished Astro's Playroom, so I have that to tide me over until Astro Bot gets a price cut.
