Astro Bot (9/6/2024: PlayStation 5)

https://blog.playstation.com/2024/05...5-september-6/

Link to Playstation blog goes into more detail including:
"In this brand-new game, you will explore 6 galaxies and over 80 levels in search of Astro’s scattered crew. Hold on tight to your Dual Speeder and dive down to each unique planet, from lush forests, sandy beaches, hot volcanoes to more surprising locations such as a gigantic hourglass or the canopy of a singing tree!"

"But that’s not all, during this epic adventure, Astro will reunite with many friends from the PlayStation universe. The trailer shows only a few but we double down on the cast and hope to delight every PlayStation fan out there. And who knows, maybe this time, these characters will play an even bigger part in saving the day? (wink)"

Super excited for this.

This looks like a ton of fun. Like a Mario Bros. game.

This isn’t VR? If not what a waste. The previous one was my favorite vr game ever.

I didn't finish the tech demo included with the PS5, but I must say I really wanna get this.

It seems like Sony has finally found their Mario (no offense, Crash).

It’s worth going back to. Despite its short length, Playroom is a full-fledged game and still one of my absolute favorites on the PS5.

I’m curious how they’ll price this. I’m expecting a full $70.
Also, since Sackboy (a comparable kid friendly exclusive title) was ported to PC, there’s some chance this will be, too, but probably a year or more after release.

Has a vibe of Mario 64 and Starfox 54 rolles into one, and that's a good vibe.

This was the only game in the TSOP that kept my attention. I always like a good platformer.

If you think I'm gonna pay an extra $10 for some cute digital skins, a few new PS Avatars and nothing else, then you know me too well. 👍

Physical Standard Edition for me. I don't need any of that superfluous BS.

That Yharnam Tourist outfit may be enough to make me buy the Digital Deluxe, those bastards.

The PS Blog says that these are early unlocks, so you can get ‘em without ponying up.

nice! I didn’t catch that and thought they’d be pre-order exclusives only.

From the wording it sounded like you wouldn't be able to use them until you progressed to certain areas not that they were early unlocks.

Ignore me. The wording in the PS Blog is very confusingly worded but does say early unlock.

I have scoured the internet about this. Nowhere else states that those skins are available anywhere else - and they all indicate that the skins have to be unlocked during the game by progression. I think it was just bad wording in the blog post. Here is the announcement from Sony on Twitter :
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...2c5b416a0.jpeg

Clearly it never says Early Unlock, just that it’s unlocked by progression.
The PSN Store also lists them as items in the Deluxe Edition, not early unlocks.
I think it’s pretty clear that those skins (besides the PaRappa skin which is a pre-order bonus for all editions) are exclusive to the Deluxe Edition. Just bad wording in the blog post.

Re: Astro Bot (9/6/2024: PlayStation 5)

Yeah it doesn't make sense for them to be early unlocks because they are just cosmetics so why would someone pay extra money to unlock a costume that they are going to unlock normally in their playthrough in a single player game. It'd be different if it was like here's a super-powered sword that you can use at the start instead of waiting until you're 20 hours in. I figured it had to be a mistake also.

Re: Astro Bot (9/6/2024: PlayStation 5)

Re-reading it, I agree.
also, my desire for a single dumb outfit is gone, so I’m good with the physical standard copy.

Decker 06-13-24 07:04 PM

Re: Astro Bot (9/6/2024: PlayStation 5)

The poster in the physical edition is nice. But I have no need for a poster, nor anywhere to display it. And the digital Deluxe edition will cost me less than a physical standard edition.
I suspect there will be a $10 digital upgrade for those who bought the physical edition (Much like R&C Rift Apart), though that's not been mentioned anywhere yet.
