Re: Mortal Kombat 1 - PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Sept. 19

This game is super addictive. The invasions mode isn't all that great but they're definitely onto something with it. I think it's stupid that you're on a "track" instead of being able to free roam in it - it's a damn shame as well because the level of detail in the maps is awesome.

Just learning to use the fighters you like is a lot of fun. Online fights against other people are enjoyable as well, I personally feel that it's well balanced.

The holiday stuff was pretty decent as well (including the fatality post above mine). The General Shao Krampus skin is perfect as well as the Reptile elf skin (his skin turns into a cookie with sprinkles on it when he turns into the reptile during fights - sounds dumb but it's actually awesome).

Havik, so far, has the best brutality in the game.

They're adding more as time goes on as well - this game was definitely released incomplete. They didn't even include the fighters talking before each match in the towers (has since been added). Many, including myself are upset to see the third line of dialogue missing before each fight as well (it's only two lines now - yes, that extra line adds so much).

Since this isn't Call of Duty (yet, anyway) and they don't release a new MK game every year, I'm hoping we get some good stuff over the years while this is out. Not sure if it will happen as it didn't really with X and 11, but we'll see.

I bought it over the holidays for $41.00 and I love it! I haven't played a MK game in years, so it's good to have it back in my game collection.

What do you all think of the story? I got side tracked by other games and am looking for a reason to get back to it.

I am enjoying it so far. I'm on level three at the moment. It really has drawn me into the game more than just playing random games.

I got 1 and 11. I'd never played a mk game before. I played through 1 and loved it, haven't done 11 yet. I don't know that I'll buy anymore and it seems just more of the same but I'm glad I played a game at least once.

11's story is goofy just like Mortal Kombat X' was. The story in X was horrendous but the gameplay was outstanding. I would rank them in terms of both story and gameplay:

1
X
11

There's some cool reveals done in the story in 1 as to why some of the characters look they do in 1 as well.

By the way, Scorpion absolutely sucks in 1 - he's horrendous to play with online.

Also, for those of you who don't fight other players online - do it, it's exciting and fun and brings the game to another level.

Both

My favorite cheat was
Spoiler:
Using a glue stick and rolling it over the buttons to get through the button mashing challenges.

I dunno why I was surprised that story mode is locked to the first two chapters. Fun while it lasted, however. And I like Scorpion's tower ending. I hope that becomes canon.

Peacemaker is annoying as hell in this game (with his constant phrases and people just always using him in general) and they buffed him so the super casual's can get easy wins. Whenever I'm fighting online, I just switch to main boy Sub's and destroy all of them with my fav brutality lol.

So unless there is another major story expansion planned, I guess we should be all the closer to an ultimate edition release.

Re: Mortal Kombat 1 - PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Sept. 19

I honestly think this may be one of my fav all time games - I'm not saying that lightly either. I bought it 9 months ago and I play it damn near every day.

This is the first fighting game where I learned advanced combos as well. It's super fun because it's not that hard to learn them and it's a blast figuring it out by yourself for the characters you like the most.

One think I never knew about the Kameos, they're mainly there to assist not so good players with pulling off long combo strings.

So all of the data leaks from months past were true on all the DLC and I'm still really only interested in the T-1000. I'll be honest as well, guest characters only hit the spot temporarily for me...with the exception of Ermac who should have been in the base game to begin with.

They keep making invasions less fun as well - I don't know why, but it wasn't that great to begin with and now it's pretty much dead.

I look forward to the second story playthrough.

I preordered. I think the content will be worth it, but strangely when I preordered there was no download and didn’t show up in my library. Is that typical of DLC’s?
