Just got the platinum trophy in Astro's Playroom. Fantastic platformer and a worthy followup to the PSVR game.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Between 1:30 CST this morning and the 8pm Wal-Mart release, I got screwed by pretty much all the major retailers today. First, I got one in my cart at Target this morning, but they kept saying the pick-up method wasn't valid. I had chosen store pick-up, the only option available, but it didn't work. They finally removed it from my cart. Tried the Sony Direct queue, didn't know about the trick to bypass it. Was out of stock by the time I got through. Got in at Best Buy around 2:30 or so, had to verify my account. Email was delayed, console out of stock by the time it came. Tried the first Wal-Mart drop, got it in my cart but by time it verified my address, was out of stock. Final Wal-Mart drop never got past the check out screen.

I guess I'll just grab one when I can actually find it. I'm worried about missing out on the Playstation Plus Collection. It has to be claimed on a PS5 console, and I haven't seen how long they are going to be giving those games away.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

On the subject of porch pirates - I ordered the Apple Watch a few weeks back from Apple online, and paid $8 for “courier service”, which is like UberEats where a dude in a car brings it to you that day - he also verified my name upon delivery.

I never knew of that service, thought it may have stemmed from Covid - but that was efficient- other physical retailers should follow suit, because with this, the driver clearly knows who it is going to (and the retailer knows who the driver is if anything goes wrong).

we bought a TV for my FIL for xmas one year, and it was "stuck" in a UPS center for days. I called, and they instantly said, "oh its lost, amazon will refund" with no care at all to investigate.

I think they were referring to an Amazon delivery person doing it, which Amazon could easily track down and fire them for. UPS/USPS is always a crapshoot and they're never held accountable for any loss.

Still ridiculous... but scalpers gonna scalp.
Maybe I should have kept my other preorders... nah, scalping is bad. Ugh. Good luck to you all who are still hoping to find one!

The thing is so obviously different from the previous models that there was no way I could "sneak" it into the entertainment center, so it became an Xmas gift. I have to convince the wife to let me set it up and make sure that nothing is wrong with it.

Actually, the three different Amazon logistics people I spoke with last night said that they don't really have a lot of information on a particular item until it is on the actual delivery truck. What happens before that is up in the air. I find this a bit unbelievable, as what company that deals in billions in product is not going to know where it is at all times? However, because they deal in billions in product, it might not be worth the cost to protect the loss.

I set everything up (that I know of) last night. No issues in that regard. Used a LAN cable to transfer about 400GB of stuff over. Didn't take that long. Downloaded Bugsnax and Miles Morales with no issues, thankfully.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Yeah, I wound up using a LAN cable (instead of wifi) to transfer Rock Band 4 stuff last night, and it worked like a champ. I don't know why I didn't just do that from the start instead of trying to do it over wifi.

I still haven't actually played anything yet, but I'm all set up for when that time comes!

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I was too tired last night after running and watching the Colts game to bother setting up my PS5. Will do it this afternoon.

Do you need to have your PS4 hooked to the TV in order to do that LAN transfer, or just plugged into an electrical outlet and powered on?

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Just powered on. Don't need to see the tv at all on the PS4 end.

My daughter and I had a blast in Astro's. Played that for an hour or so. It's a nice showcase for the controller.... which is super comfy.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I'll have to look at settings after work but there are some strange things happening with my setup. My Harmony Hub, which does not have the PS5 (or PS4, for that matter) added as a device just turned the console on from rest when I activated my Watch TV activity; not even the PS4 activity the PS5 is now using. Also, I put the MM disc in while everything was off to get it installing whatever it needs. The system turned on as I expected but so did my TV. I didn't touch a remote, just slid the disc into the drive with the system in rest and my TV turned on. The console is routed through a receiver so I have no clue what happened.

Some kind of HDMI CEC setting you need to turn off?

Maybe; that's all I can think of. I didn't have much time to mess with it during lunch and I don't think I changed any settings from default.

It sounds like your PS4 had it set to off but your PS5 has it set to on for some reason. So when the TV turns on, it turns on the PS5 and vice versa. Your Harmony shouldn't be able to control the PS5 at all unless it connects via bluetooth and certainly not when you're clicking on a completely different activity.

Yay, my PS5 from Target arrived just now. It was in a Target box, but hardly any packing balloons in it so I'm sure it was banged around a lot. Now just waiting on the Miles Morales game (also from Target) which is still supposed to arrive today as well.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I didn't have any luck with any of the WalMart releases. Every single time I was able to get it in my cart, and every single time I was unable to check out.

Got excited last night when I got an Amazon email saying it was in stock...only to discover it was a third-party selling one for $1,500! It's gone today, so either some poor schmuck paid that much or (hopefully) Amazon took it down for price gouging reasons.

Same here. Oh well, I'll get it when I get it. I was a little excited to try out gaming (and disc movies) on a 4K TV, but I can wait. I'm certainly not buying from a scalper.

Cool, got mine too! Awesome. Well, when my wife lets me open the PS5, it'll be awesome, at least.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I have spent too much time trying to figure this out. I am looking for my Rock Band songs I have purchased over the years to DL on to the console. For the life of me I can not find my previous purchases. On my laptop when I go to the PS Store, I click on 'My Playstation' then 'Games Library' then 'Downloads'. It barely lists anything I have bought over the years, and no Rock Band songs at all.

Meanwhile if I go to the PS Store on the PS5 and click 'More' then 'Transaction History' I can see everything I've bought but won't give me the option to DL anything (Rock Band songs and other games). It only shows the history.

Am I missing something?
