I don't think there's much you can do unless you take it apart. Is it still under warranty (warranty is one year from purchase)?

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Every Dual Sense would be under warranty since they're all under a year old.

And if this becomes a big problem I am sure they will follow Nintendo's lead and fix them free of charge well past that point.

Fortunately that hasn't been an issue for me. My only problem was that my triangle button started to stick after being heavily abused during Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart.

Ha, I thought that was the case but it's been a loooong year so I wasn't sure.

I wouldn't even attempt to take it apart. I would only screw it up worse than it is now. I don't know what to do. It's at the point where gaming is not an enjoyable experience with something that should take a minute turns into 15. And just try to punch in a 12 digit PSN code. It's a nightmare. There's no controllers in stores anymore and frankly, who is to say it wouldn't flake out as well?

I didn't realize controllers were in short supply as well.

I would follow the link above because they say how to redeem the warranty, send your controller in and get it fixed. In the meantime if you can try to get another one. Of course there's no guarantee that one won't drift but I can say not all controllers seem to exhibit this, at least not to the extent of, say, joycons.

That's because they aren't. I just checked 3 stores (Target, best buy, Walmart) and they had them in stock at all 3.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I never see controllers in stores (probably because they aren't selling hardware in stores either) but they seem readily available online at all retailers.

I want to get the red controller in the near future and it's crazy to think I'm considering a protection plan for a damn joystick. *sigh I've been fortunate and haven't had any drift issues on any console (no issue with joycons either).

Way too many remastered games in that presentation. Didnít see much worth investing in

God of War looks badass. Likewise for Spider-man 2. Wolverine was barely even a teaser. Not much else interested me.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I seem to be in the minority here, but I loved almost every minute of the showcase.

I couldíve lived without seeing yet another Deathloop trailer, but at least with its release date just a few days off, this should at long last be it! And who needs another GTA V trailer after the better part of a decade?

Absolutely buying:
  • Knights of the Old Republic - as colossal as my OG Xbox collection was, I never actually got around to this one.
  • Wolverine - Marvel + Insomniac = day one
  • Spider-Man 2 - ditto
  • God of War: Ragnarok - isnít this on everyoneís ďmust playĒ list?
  • Project Eve - suddenly the radio silence on Bayonetta 3 doesnít sting so much anymore
  • Forspoken - Iím a sucker for this sort of third-person action/adventure
  • Alan Wake - might wait for a physical release, though
  • Guardians of the Galaxy - in a ďsomeone will buy me this for ChristmasĒ kind of way, at least
  • Tchia - one of my favorite reveals of the showcase; likely to be one of the rare games my wife and I both play through
  • Gran Turismo 7 - since my wife has fallen off Forza Motorsport and isnít that excited about Horizon 5, maybe sheíll be into this

Maybe / maybe not
  • Tiny Tinaís Wonderlands - weirdly intrigued by the vibe / premise despite not being a Borderlands guy at all. 3 was my introduction to the series and I just didnít really think much of it
  • Ghostwire: Tokyo - still not really sure what Iím looking at; think this is a game Iíd appreciate more than actually enjoy playing

Nah
  • Uncharted 4 / Lost Legacy remasters - I like the original games well enough, but I canít say the idea of re-buying them really gets my motor revving
  • Rainbow 6: Extraction - not really an online multiplayer guy
  • GTA V - whatyearisit.gif
  • Deathloop - Iím boring and just want to play linear/linear-ish games
  • Bloodhunt
  • Kid A Mnesia - despite having been a college radio DJ, never really had any interest in Radiohead

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Well...I finally joined the PS5 Club....I really didn't want to spend what I did...bought thru "Scalper"...but I don't have the time to monitor when PS5's drop with work now picking up .....and with new reports and stories of the Chip Shortage will end up getting worse before getting better .....and demand and prices will increase. Now I just hope the package arrives intact, doesn't get lost and as is advertised. I did buy off Amazon thru a high volume seller with over 97% Positive so I felt good doing the buy.

So anything i should be aware of, doing, prep for transfer of everything over? I have a WD 4TB USB. I just did a Player Database Rebuild cleaning out. Wife asked about the current PS4 on what I was doing with it and really don't know right now. It's a Launch Model with a Hybrid Seagate SSD. I did a outboard Antenna Mod and have taken it apart several times and did a cleaning. All-in-all it's fine but as mentioned above, I just think the Chip Situation will get worse and harder to find both PS5 and Xbox Series X.

^ this YouTuber recently got the console too, and gave his impressions, specifically talking about transferring his game library over and the problems he faced. Video is long, but I suggest skimming through it.

Well obviously I didn't walk into 3 different physical stores to see if they had PS5 controllers just to prove someone wrong on DVD Talk. You have heard of online shopping? It's a new fad. Every online storefront I checked had them readily available.

Thanks and I watched most of it....so its basically wifi transferring however, I saw one video where the person just connected the CAT5 cable from PS4 to PS5. Everything I connect is thru CAT5 because room is too thick with concrete block and brick.

Yes I've done it three times sadly. It's very easy with WiFi. And both PS4 and PS5 can be in the same room, just have the PS5 hooked up to the TV

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Is or has anyone ran the PS5 at 1080p 60Hz?....Our Sony VPL HW45ES Projector only does 1080p 60Hz and picture wise has been stellar with everything. When looking at getting a PS5 earlier I thought about looking at a 55" TV but be hard to discount the PQ on the Sony Projector. I haven't seen much on picture comparisons except 1080p 120Hz and 4K 60Hz.

I run mine at 1080p60 on my BenQ projector.

The biggest upgrade on the PS5 vs PS4 to me has been the silky smooth framerates and copious amounts of graphical details in games like Rift Apart and Returnal.

So overall fairly happy with results?....I saw some saying they didn't see much difference...but it was more noticeable at 120Hz.

Also have to look into connecting my Lucid Sound LS41 Headphones which have a optical input and a USB Doggle. I've seen some mention using some HDMI/Optical Extractor, some saying just connect to Optical input on TV or AVR or get a HDMi to Optical Converter

great...I'll probably though start looking for 55" TV....I've done some searching on the Optical Input with headphones and most everything I saw was with some HDMI Optical Extractor but it was for connection to TV in the mix, not thru AVR. My Yamaha AVR has ARC HDMI 1.2 but these extractors don't support ARC thru the HDMI, only optical. I'll wait and see but I can see just getting a 4K OLED and a soundbar later down the road.
