Personally I would be comfortable with the Sony order if you got an email confirmation (and saw the temporary charge on your card like I did). I'd take that over Walmart.

@Wario64: GameStop issued a correction on a memo to employees about PS5 preorders tomorrow. Friday's allocation will be for LAUNCH DAY release, not within a week of launch as mentioned prior.

Besides a lot of uncertainty on availability I had one glaring question that might have been finally answered yesterday on a article i saw over at PushSquare site....that being the estimated cost of an additional NMVe SSD....as that will be the only means of playing PS5 games since you can only store them on a USB Drive. Well first it was disclosed the SSD Module for the Xbox Series X was going to be around $220.00 for a 1TB....then saw this story....

It "Could Be" the first one from Samsung but as i suspected long ago the demand and being the first batch it won't be cheap......$229.00 for a 1TB. So add that on top of $70.00 for another controller and $70 for PS5 Games has had me and others I know saying they are now going to wait....

I'm starting to think both consoles going NVMe was a bad idea. Based on comments here, not enough people know the technology to justify the price. Yet if they didn't use them, I'm sure we'd get complaints about load times.

It's really because it is like bleeding edge SSDs so they are expensive right now, but they will come down in price eventually.

But unless you are into PCs, you are completely ignorant on the tech and the cost of them.

Also, the 980 doesn't appear to be on Amazon, but I believe this is the tech (PCIe 4.0 "GEN 4") that is being used by the Xbox and PS5

Even for PC gaming, these drives are not common yet. Most people still use your standard SSD via SATA.

Basically these drives are going to allow games to load a shit ton of data with minimal load times. Like going from a HDD to a Sata SSD, taking it a step further.

Well, you can also say most people are not looking at the 3070, 3080 and 3090 cards... Hardcore PC gamers are, just like the Hardcore console games are looking at the PS5 and Series X.

The two nearest my house said they would have between 6 and 9 when I asked yesterday. There were already at least that many people in line at each of them at 6 this morning.​​​​​​ They don't open until noon.

If you go to gamestop's website right now, you get a "You are in line" message. You can't even use the website to order anything else right now.

In general, I think it's smarter to wait unless you really really really love some launch game, but we are all irrational gamers who love the new shiny things, so of course we're not going to wait. I will say that it's not like you need an external HDD or an extra controller right out of the gate in most cases, and at least for the PS5 even if the technology is new, we should see prices decreasing because of advances in technology and competition.

The Sony invite only thing today seems like it's delayed by 30 minutes. The countdown (which previously was on track for 10am Pacific) is now set for 10:30am.

edit: now they added a message saying there are technical difficulties and the queue is set for 11am.

Did more headsets appear? They were the one accessory sold out everywhere. I still have a Platinum Headset so I don't need one, but noticed the reasonable-priced PS5 ones weren't showing any availability last weekend.

Yea...the NMVe SSD's are new not to mention really, really fast.....and i guess the prices are in line though i have seen several 1TB around the $180....I almost passed out though when i saw the price for a 4TB Model....almost $700.00....

But I have yet see just how we are suppose to be able to swap these out which to me is really huge. from my understanding there are two slots...one occupied by the 890gb SSD with the OS on it but there is an additional slot where you can swap out. So in theroy here it seems as the new NMVe SSD's become larger and more common, maybe those 500gb cards might look worthwhile able to have 2-3 games on them and just swap out. I did see where almost like the Disc Platter versions, it's recommended to keep these at 80% or less capacity. I need to read more into why that is....the Disc Plater version it was known why but these being straight out digital...no idea.

The consoles are using the newest version of them which is new.

Here's my plan, when I finally got one. I'm just going to get an external hard drive to load the PS4 games I want to play and save the SSD for PS5 games. Maybe when SSDs get cheaper I'll get another internal one.

I've had a PS4 Pro for 2 years and never come close to filling up the hard drive.
