Metroid is my favorite gaming franchise hands down so I’m in too. And I’ll see for myself but I’m REALLY hoping this is only a very small part of the game. But…part of me thinks that Nintendo has kind of been on a kick of making games more accessible. And sometimes to the chagrin of long time Nintendo fans. Like the autolock and non-regenerative enemies in Pikmin 4. So I can kind of see that maybe this would be a Nintendo mandate to make Metroid more “accessible”.

I must say these amiibo’s are quite nice looking figures. I won’t get more then the 3 I got for this game, but great quality and appearance.

Not only did Best Buy honor my old GCU-era Metroid Prime 4 preorder for $47.99, but because they had to cancel/reorder as it pre-dates their current systems, they gave me a $10 GC for the inconvenience! That’s unexpected, but I’ll take it. (And put it towards the Switch 2 upgrade, maybe.)

That’s freaking awesome and quite the deal. It’s almost like getting the game for $37.99. The upgrade is only $10 so net of $20 ain’t bad for such a long hold. Even if the game is crap, you still got a great deal.

I don't know how you swung that. My GCU order has disappeared into the digital ether. Not that I care that much, I can get it digitally for $45 (and share it with my son). Still it would have been cool for them to honor it.

I’m amazed that it’s still showing up for me. When I log into the app, it’s on my homescreen as preordered and available soon for store pickup.

It's probably because I don't have that CC any more and they probably canceled the order.

Can you dig up the original confirmation email? My old preorder doesn’t show up in my order history when I browse, but if I search my orders for the original order number, that 2018 Metroid Prime preorder appears.

If it still says “we’ll let you know when it ships”, you still might be on the list of people to call. I’d seen other people talk about being called a while before I was. It might just be a veeeerrryyyy slow process.

Anyone see any preorder bonuses? I guess there’s no deluxe edition. Sucks that it seems like Nintendo isn’t really treating this like the blockbuster game it should be. Even Metroid Dread and Return of Samus got a deluxe edition.


Anyways Costco has the physical Switch 2 version for $63 which isn’t too bad.

Do we know yet if the complete Switch 2 game is on there or if it’s just the Switch 1 game with an on cartridge code to upgrade?

i think they are treating the upgrade as a deluxe edition. i know no trinkets or SteelBook™ but it's something, but i agree with you, there should have been some deluxe package with cards or an artbook or something. maybe Nintendo wasn't liking the results or something and shunned it. who knows?

there are 2 different versions of the game listed so i would assume different games or one has a game and the SW2 has the game card.

Played the Demo the other day, it has me sold.

Not that I wasn't already, but yeah, looking forward to this.

I doubt that thwy'd use the Switch 1 version on the card. The Switch 2 version is actually a smaller file.

I hope it’s all on the card. I guess it’s not that important, but for game preservation it would be nice to have the upgrades already built in.

it’s pretty crazy how much smaller Nintendo games are than other AAA titles. Metroid is probably going to be the most advanced game graphically speaker that Nintendo has made. And it still won’t fill up a 64 gb card.

I guess I was wrong. Checking now the Switch 1 game is 28.9 GB and the Switch 2 version is 31.6 GB. Both are really tiny compared to the other consoles' games though.

Played it at Best Buy, it was only a 20 minute demo so not long enough for anything to get annoying.

MP4 is a new story, not dependant on your knowledge of the previous MP lore.
