Mario Odyssey's story felt like a tutorial to me. But that's mostly because I finished the game with like 125 stars and have since gotten 300 more after the fact. Huge variety of short challenges in that one.

Well it’s a Mario game. The stories are all pretty basic and revolve around the same basic premise. I don’t really play those games for their stories.

Man, another decent switch digital sale. Still not at PSN levels but so far they're doing so much better than the WiiU sales they had.
Mario Rabbids is on sale again, but not sure how much since I already bought it. Overcooked too, highly recommended for multiplayer play. And NBA 2k18.
Lego Marvel Superheroes 2 is 41.99
Arms is 41.99
Ultra Street Fighter 2 is 27.99
L.A. Noire is 37.49
WWE, which is by all accounts still horrible, is 29.99 but I'm tempted.
Also Earth Wars just released, for whatever reason it's only like 5 bucks on the switch when it's 20 on PSN for a port by a different publisher. So odd.

Looks like it's the same game. This guy really likes it.

For $4.50 I picked it up. Why not? Might be a price mistake.

Grabbed Earth Wars too. For under $5 I’ll try it. Also RGT85 is a pretty good YouTuber and does a lot of Switch videos.

I don't think Earth Wars is a price mistake because it's also 4 bucks on mobile, and both the Switch and mobile apps are made by the same publisher (while the other consoles are renamed and ported by someone else). So odd, though, you'd think they'd try to milk the switch like everyone else.

I feel like most companies haven't been milking it too bad, at least, companies not named Capcom.

I have to say I am impressed with the Pro Controller’s battery life. I haven’t even had to charge it since I bought it. I haven’t played a ton docked and using it but a fair bit.

Well grab your wallets, Limited Run Games is at it again. Mercenary Kings and Flint Hook are coming to the Switch. Both look like a lot of fun, but 'm not sure my wallet is ready...

Mercenary Kings
Flint Hook
RGT85 lost all credibility with me, when he reviewed a Retron console that was said to have issue running Castlevania 3, and said in his review "it looks fine! it runs great" when the colors were all wrong.

I bought a second Pro Controller before I went on a 2+ week vacation to Japan & Hong Kong a few weeks ago. Didn't charge the Pro Controllers once during my flight there and they lasted a long while.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
So I got Zelda, Mario and a pro controller. Now I just need to get a Switch.
Basically got those first because had the Gamestop B2G1 free coupon and my local store had 2 of the 3 items. They never had any of them at that store, so it just required me to travel to one additional store nearby where I was already going to be. Worked out well.
Probably pick up the Switch this week at BB and wipe out all my credit there. So, which game to I start with first, Zelda or Mario?
Zelda didn't really hook me on the demo, but I've always like the past Zelda games. The demo of Mario basically got me pumped to buy a Switch.

I’d say start with Mario because the central story is pretty short, and the post-game content and collect-a-thon are so pick-up-and-play. If you’re hooked, you could keep chipping away at that piece by piece whenever you have the time/inclination.
Breath of the Wild is more of a commitment due to its size/scale.

Most people will likely say Zelda but I much prefer Mario. It may seem petty but the fragility of all the items kinda annoys me and bums me out. What is the joy in getting cool rare gear if it's just going to break when you use it? Mario on the other hand is pure unadulterated joy. Fantastic game.

Yeah, the breakable weapons aspect of Breath of the Wild can be a tad annoying. I’d say Mario as well to start out with. I agree about it being more accessible and easy to pick and play. Also I’ve just always been a fan of Mario more as opposed to Zelda. I think Zelda is really cool and a lot of fun but the games stories are such time sinks that it can be hard for me to finish. Super Mario Odyssey takes a lot of time too if you’re collecting all the moons but it’s easier to play casually.

I like it a lot more than Super Mario Galaxy. Never had a N64, Gamecube or WiiU so I can't contribute much there.
But this game (Odyssey) is FANTASTIC. I really love it.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I’ve played Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64 and DS versions), Super Mario Galaxy, and Super Mario Odyssey for the 3D entries.
I think I’ll always have a soft spot for Super Mario 64 to be honest. I played it a ton as a kid, first with my cousin and brother (before my brother and I had our own N64) and later at my house when we had our own N64. Plus the DS version I’ve played through a few times at least. I never finished all of Super Mario Galaxy truthfully. I still have my Wii set up so maybe I’ll play through it at some point. Super Mario Odyssey is definitely a lot of fun. It feels a lot like 64 only way bigger and polished.
This makes me realize how many games I’ve missed out on. I’d like to play through the ones I haven’t yet at some point. Hopefully when Virtual Console launches it’ll have some of the previous entries.

I don't like ranking but if i had to for 3D Mario...
1) Mario Odyssey
2) Mario Sunshine (formerly #1)
3) Mario Galaxy
4) Mario Galaxy 2
5) Mario 64 (didn't truly appreciate this game until I got older).
6) Mario 3D Land
7) Mario 3D World
Mario Odyssey feels like the perfect blend of 64's groundbreaking game play and Sunshine's creativity. I'm taking my time finishing Odyssey as I really don't want the game to be over.
