This isn't proof, but it appears to be a MicroSD issue:

That doesn't mean much, but it does seem some MicroSDs have issues, especially ones from ebay (not suggesting yours is, but it is interesting that this seems to be on Samsung cards).

Interesting info there. I really appreciate the link! I am going to check our my "Samsung" card when I get home to see if it has any of the telltale indicators of being a bootleg memory card.
Seems like most everything that sells these days has knockoffs/fakes out there.

No problem, hope you can get it figured out (I would swap out the microsd regardless) -- generally if it gets to 99% it means it downloaded fully but failed the checksum/hash/verification process.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

There was a rather large rumor going around that Soul Calibur VI was in development for the Nintendo Switch. Turns out, it is "not in development at the moment." Article here

HOWEVER We are getting two new Namco games on the Switch, including Pac Man Championship Ed 2!

Rocket League is on sale in the eshop now, 15 bucks. Not much of a sale, but considering it's one of the top downloaded games and this is the nintendo eshop we're talking about here, that's a decent deal.

I was thinking of blind buying the physical edition of Rocket League next month but maybe I’ll just download it.

Can't see much point in buying Switch ports of games I already own (like Rocket League and Skyrim). I see the appeal of playing on-the-go, but I'm not traveling enough to make that worthwhile for me.

I've picked up the four games I wanted for our Christmas Presents (Zelda, Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8, Arms). Any other strong suggestions? More importantly, any soon-upcoming Switch games I should know about?

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, Snipperclips, and Splatoon 2 are worth a strong recommendation as well. (Heck, those three plus what you already bought constitute my entire Switch library!)

I haven't played Splatoon. It's a fun, family friendly FPS? Does it have 4 player local play?

Sell me on Mario + Rabbids. I have zero knowledge of this game.

Saw enough of Snipperclips to know it's not for me.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

It's weird, the Switch came out at the perfect time. I feel like despite the raw power of this generation of consoles, a ton of attention/critical acclaim has been on the indie developer side, which either is focused on retro graphics or at the very least a small common denominator of processing power to make development cheaper and ports easier. So a lot of these indie titles can port to switch without much loss, and it's become my preferred platform for stuff like Steamworld Dig 2 and the like.

They just had a feature on the best selling games on the Switch (though they don't really say anything about how they're best selling, if they're digital only, NA only, etc):

Zelda Breath of the Wild
Super Mario Odyssey
Mario Kart 8 DX
Splatoon 2
Mario Rabbids
Arms
1, 2 Switch
Minecraft
Stardew Valley
Snipperclips
Sonic Mania
Pokken DX
Super Bomberman
Skyrim
Ultra Street Fighter II
Binding of Isaac Afterlife
Xenoblade 2
Puyo Puyo Tetris
Shovel Knight Treasure Trove
Overcooked Special Edition

Notice the absence of that Fire Emblem musou game as the only Nintendo title not to make it.

If you like jrpgs, Xenoblade 2 is a decent choice, and while I haven't bought it yet, Stardew Valley portable sounds ideal. I bought Overcooked yesterday and it's a fun party game, if you don't already have it elsewhere. Also just today a new Advance Wars clone called Tiny Medal, though there's some controversy with the developer and Kickstarter shenanigans. Looks decent though.

Mario Rabbids is, surprisingly enough, like a simplified Xcom game, a tactical turn-based strategy game.

Must own Switch game. I'm not even into strategy games and I loved it. It also has some of the best Mario characters moments of the entire Mario history.

Really like Steamworld Dig 2 and it's on sale until 12/28. Metroidvania where you explore downward a lot.

Nice heads-up. I liked the first one. I was looking at it for PS4 for the same price.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

They just put a ton of titles on sale on the eShop for the switch, mostly indies I know nothing about, and some with only 10% discounts.

But no discount on Golf Story or Stardew Valley...

Mario + Rabbids is X-com in the Mushroom Kingdom.

It's a third-person shooter rather than a FPS, but yeah, it definitely ticks the "fun" and "family friendly" checkboxes.

I have mixed feelings about Splatoon 2. The campaign is markedly inferior to the first one (which had one of my all-time favorite final boss battles), and while it's still really fun and is greatly improved graphically, its online multiplayer bread-and-butter still sorta feels like more of the same. I'd still recommend it, especially to someone who never got around to it on the Wii U.

It's lousy for local multiplayer, though, unless each of your kids will have his/her own Switch. No split-screen, unless something's changed fairly recently.

Wow, so it turns out that I can't redeem the eShop online gift card I just bought at eBay through PayPal Gifts via the Nintendo eShop website. I have to redeem it on the Switch apparently. That's lame.

Mario Rabbids is an Ubisoft game though, correct? Ubisoft is notorious from dropping list prices of brand new games to $20 within months of release. I definitely wouldn't pay $60 for it, but under $30 would be acceptable.

It's definitely gotten down around that range over the past month or so.

Heck, it's on sale now, kind of. You get 50% off another Nintendo Switch game when you buy this at Target. And it was just on digital sale last week, and physical sale on Black Friday at Walmart.

Kotaku's mention of this game Blossom Tales as a Link to the Past clone makes me want it!

Downloaded The Mummy Demastered last night since it’s on sale in the eShop currently. Pretty fun game for something loosely based on a shitty movie.
