Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Looks like demand cooled just enough locally to prepare for the holiday season. Target seems to always have a couple in-stock now.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Finally scored a colored Switch ! Having a lot of fun with Mario Rabbids. I also bought Splatoon , Tetris vs poo poo, and some Japanese pinball breakout arcade game. I'm really surprised the Virtual Console is absent along with Netflix :(
Stupid question; Is there a proper way to dock the console? It takes me a few tries before it finally connects to my TV. The dock is set up in the back of my TV if that might be a problem? |

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I noticed some at Target not too long ago. Hope they're still around closer to Christmas. We've decided to make it our family gift (myself, wife and son). Nothing else for us, just the Switch and as many games as we can get.
That is, if my job situation hasn't gone from bad to worse (looking at a merger in the spring, no idea if I'll be at the new company or not). |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Yeah, i've also seen them at a few Targets both here in Irvine, CA as well as up in Sacramento.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I went to Best Buy the other day and they had three grey and three color ones.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
NBA 2K18 looks to be a solid port.
Folks are starting to go hands on with the game, including USgamer, and we’re hearing that it’s feature complete and will be identical to the PlayStation 4 version. NBA 2K18 players on Switch can expect the inclusion of MyGM team-management, MyLeague, MyCareer, Story mode, and everything else. It’s the same engine across all platforms. The only element missing in the Switch version of NBA 2K18 is the ability to create a custom logo for Pro-Am teams. However, US Gamer's Kat Bailey does say: Switch impressions: Looks okay. Character models obv took a hit. Animation feels a smidge rough. A little last-gen. |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
That's interesting, I wonder how it will look. I think for sports games the appeal of lifelike graphics is going to win over portability.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Heard some decent reviews for Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle so took a chance on it. Haven't gotten to play it yet but hopefully it's fun.
What do people have for collections so far? I've got: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle Sonic Mania Might pick up Cave Story + soon too. |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Nintendo on how games larger than 32GB -- so won't fit on a retail cart as things stand now -- will be handled:
A microSD card will be needed for certain Nintendo Switch games that contain an especially large amount of content and require additional storage for players to enjoy the full experience. If you purchase a physical version of a game that requires an additional microSD memory card, you will be able to play a portion of the game right out of the box (for example, specific levels or modes). To enjoy the full game, downloading additional data is required. Depending on the storage requirements for each game, it may be necessary to purchase a microSD card to expand storage space. When purchasing a digital version of the game, it may also be necessary to purchase a microSD card depending on the game’s storage requirements and the storage available on the consumer’s Nintendo Switch console. |

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
This doesn't seem like a huge deal to me. Its not like a microSD card is a huge investment. I'll probably just buy one with a lot of capacity so it'll hopefully last a while. If this allows the Switch to not have gimped versions of bigger titles so they can actually stay in the game I'm for it.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
 Releasing a 32gb system in a 2tb world was brain numbingly stupid in the first place, especially with the big push to go digital. Just taking 5 minutes to step back to look at what third parties are putting out on other systems (potentially 50gb+ titles) should have raised a red flag in development.

The issue addressed here is specifically with the physical games you buy in a store. The game cards currently cap out at 32 GB. The quoted excerpt even specifically references physical games. |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I'm wondering if eventually they could just make it possible for the game cartridges to hold more. Either that or just break down and buy a microSD. You can get them pretty reasonably priced if you look and depending on how much space you want they go pretty high capacity wise.
