Do you think they’ll do a video game tie-in with the movie? 😉

I’m kidding.

Oh tanman, here’s some more

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Someone compiled a list of all Switch original games, including remasters, but excluding WiiU ports. 108 total games.

And here's a version with WiiU ports. 118 total

I thought that seemed very low so wanted to see what PS5 had. Around 35 so far. That's crazy.

Yep. The rolling generations and making everything compatible on last gen systems 4 years after the launch the new systems is killing exclusives.

Does anyone know if the Resident Evil 4 version for Switch the remaster or old? I wasn’t able to tell but the release date was 2019. Thx.

I don’t think it is, I saw remaster came out in 2023. Why would Nintendo not get the remaster?

It is not the remaster. Not the latest PS4/5 gen remaster anyways.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

I bought the deluxe edition of Sonic vs. Shadow: Generations a while ago. It says it comes with the 3 movie pack. How do I access those movies through Switch 1? Thanks in advance.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Nintendo is rolling out a new agreement that if you modify your Switch then can brick your console. Not just ban you from online, make the console unusable. Interesting.

I saw that. More anticonsumer verbage. All the work people did to wrestle away control from corporations has been undone by forced T&C and easy to click ACCEPT buttons. I mean if corporations can stop you from suing them for killing your wife by not caring about their food allergies just because you signed up for a Disney+ trail how much more power could they actually wrestle us.

insert prophetic words about owning nothing and being happy.

Hey don’t mod your Switch and play pirated games on it. I can abide by that rule.

I just want to note that Disney backed down in that particular legal case and withdrew the argument that the Disney+ terms and conditions forced arbitration for the wrongful death.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Only because of the negative press it received. Which is exactly why outrage is oftentimes warranted. Sure it won't impact the vast majority of customers. But corporations continue to push the envelope on what consumers will tolerate. Am I going to jailbreak my Switch so I can pirate games? Hell no. But I also don't appreciate that verbiage is in there in T&C that I can't opt out of.

I'm torn on this one. I'm not going to pirate games. You're not going to pirate games, but on the other hand a consumer should be able to own and do whatever they wish with the product they purchased. People hack/mod things to make them do all kinds of weird and/or cool stuff all the time(other than pirating*), especially years & decades after they're no longer relevant. Maybe someone wants to put their media server on there for their kids. Or maybe someone programs it to control their drone or some future tech that doesn't even exist yet. But according to Nintendo, you no longer own the system, they do and you're just leasing it under their lease agreement. You hack/mod it for any purpose other than giving them money, they own you.

Seems like massive over reach when they can carry on as is with banning people/consoles.

*and even then there even arguments for that. Say older Game X isn't backwards compatible because of some limitations of the system. Enterprising hackers take that as a challenge and get said game running proving it's possible. The game's publisher takes note and gets a developer on a proper conversion/release.

Sounds like they'll be keeping their modded devices offline.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

If I try to mod my switch there's no reason for Nintendo to brick it, I'll take care of that myself.

As someone who has no interest in modding their switch, those news bother me.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

So I finally realized how many games I was reliant on having one digital copy being able to be played on multiple consoles last night. Wanted to play co-op with my daughter, and forgot that Earth Defense Force and a bunch of others are only local or internet co-op not split screen. Ugh. There are a ton of games I wouldn't have bought if I knew they would take this feature away, but oh well.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Saw a really weird thing in the wild today. At a Walmart in North Carolina there was an entire shelf in the cabinet of plain brown boxed refurbished Switches. I have NEVER seen refurbished units of any game console in a major B&M store before. I think they were OLED models selling for $325?

I guess Nintendo does plan on selling the Switch concurrently with the Switch 2 for the foreseeable future. Interesting strategy…

It was a great run Nintendo Switch. You were the console that defied expectations and saved our beloved Nintendo from the brink of extinction. Thanks for all the memories.

Sony is still pimping games for the PS4 and PS5, so there is that.

For me, the Switch 1 still has a lot of life left in it.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

I was having Switch 2 FOMO so I dusted off my switch, got a dock, a compatible controller, an HDMI switcher, and now I can go back and forth between the PC and the Switch (and I have a second monitor to still be able to watch TV or such while I game). Just got Nintendo Online and I've been having a blast with Mario Kart Deluxe. Just bought Splatoon 3. (and a new picross game.... sigh) Picross on a huge screen is a game changer, the goodness of Switch-only picross games on a huge screen. Also got Fast RMX (the precursor to Fast Fusion), and now my itch is scratched. $180 out of pocket including the picross game, and now I can play all my previous purchases on the PC screen.
