Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)

Several gaming sites have some gamer feedback on the beta. . Some of the quotes I've seen....

"It is good fun though, but it only lasts about an hour before boredom or frustration sets in"

"Graphically it's unbelievable. This is the first next gen game where I'm like ok, they could never even come close to this on the old consoles.
Gameplay? Well, I started off doing the solo horde mode thing. I loved it.
Then I played multiplayer. And it's just the exact same awful multiplayer as ever other shooter. Walk 5 feet, die. Walk 5 feet, die. Walk 5 feet, kill somebody, die. Boring, repetitive, monotonous. There's nothing here you can't do just as good anywhere else. The only difference between this and CoD is one goes bang bang and one goes pew pew."

"If this game had a real solo campaign it'd be a day one no brainer. As is, I might get it when it's 20 bucks."

"That I'm playing a Battlefield game with Star Wars skin and power-ups. Its okay. Not great but its fun. I was not expecting a lot from it like many others did."

"Looks Fantastic! Cancelled my preorder though - I played too much battlefield and this feels too familiar for me. May purchase on a good black Friday sale."

"ok , I tried the beta on PS4 and I was very impressed . Stunning graphics , great game play . I felt a bit like Battlefield 4 . I like fast re-spawn back into action . when I played the 20V20 match I felt a bit lost , not much fun for me , I guess I need to understand better how to play it . The overall experiences is great . I can see selling very well "

"I think the atmosphere and presentation of the game is perfect, but the guns need more personality, and less range, and the random power-ups are a terrible idea. The arcade nature of it doesn't fit the game. I feel like there needs to be a better way to get access to vehicles too."

Can't say I disagree with any of this. I'm going to have to see more variety before I buy the full version.

Those comments though sound like complaints leveled at every new CoD game ever. Yet many folks, myself included, pop in and play the multiplayer constantly and rarely touch the single.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)

it's crap.
no bots so the battles feel small. A big part of the game should be picking your spawn point, but it's just random. I would routinely get stuck on the terrain and have to side step or jump to get loose. And it's booring. I played for almost an hour and uninstalled.

Yeah, I can't quite put my finger on it, but even with more modes and arenas that aren't in the beta, there just feels like there's something missing from the the game.

Well I can say that one thing I really don't like is that every gun feels the same. I don't like the view through the scope when ADS'ing, and there don't seem to be any attachments to differentiate weapons.

More maps and objectives would be a good start too.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)

I can't say I disagree with some of the feedback from above. The game looks amazing but it does feel repetitive and it's one of those games where unless you spend a bunch of time with it (or other similar games) getting good the comment about walk five feet, die and that just keeps happening feels accurate. I do think this will be a game I'll wait for a discount on. I would have preferred a more story based game with online multiplayer as an option.

One more thing, Don't bother aiming down the sights. It's no more accurate than firing from the hip. The game doesn't care which method you use.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)

I checked my friends list to see who was playing what...nearly 30 on and not a single playing the beta. Friday night there were at least 7-9. It's either Warframe, Destiny, Diablo, Elder Scrolls. Hulu, YouTube and even three are playing Disgaea....but none on the beta.

Don't know....being a beta hopefully they see and hear some complaints and issues and make some changes. Question is...can they make it in time without bumping back the game. But with some pretty good games coming out along with some new DLC...like for Bloodborne and maybe Dying Light...some might hold off.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)

It literally feels like a 90s shooter with great graphics, to be honest it felt boring. Like a half-assed Battlefield. Felt completely unfinished.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)

I'm not big on playing beta versions of games before their released. It's not that I'm not intersted in it, it's just that I'd rather wait for the finished product so it's ALL brand new to me if/when I eventually pick it up. Plus, I'd rather get the full experience rather than only a select few game modes, weapons, etc.

Also, Fallout 4 is going to take over my life soon anyway, so I really don't need any another new games to distract me.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)

I am having fun with the beta, but the lack of a single player hurts even more after seeing how great the game looks and plays. Also, Walker Assault is just so damn unbalanced it is not even funny. Overall the beta has just reinforced my decision to skip this until it drops to 20 bucks.

Better than cod, but I doubt I'm going to get it at all. I enjoyed the chaos of the 20 on 20 battles, but yeah. Would be interested if it had a great campaign

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)

Finally got this downloaded and spent a few hours with this this morning - really enjoyed it. It's straight up Battlefield. Which I've been playing since BF1942 so I'm used to the way that game can play. Even underpowered at the start I managed to finish in the middle to top half of my side consistently so I felt pretty good about that.

And I couldn't care less about a campaign - I just want to shoot other people, so this fits that bill nicely.

Keeping the pre-order - it's a fun one.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)

So just played the campaign level and it was easy as hell. I played the multiplayer mode and it was COD all over again, which rocked. My first MP game and I scored #1 on the team. You can totally tell who play or don't play COD by how easy and/or fast you can kill them. The graphics and sound are phenomenal, too. I read that the game will also be in ATMOS? Shit.

I'm gonna play it a bit more before I decide to pre-order or not. I'll be quite busy when Black Ops III and Fallout 4 come out.
