Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)

Probably time for a thread on this, since we're getting the first real trailer on Friday.

Due out sometime this Fall on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

The team at DICE is zeroing in on the final details for our appearance at Star Wars™ Celebration and we’re ready to make good on our promise to reveal more details around Star Wars™ Battlefront™.

It has been hard to keep these secrets from the community, but we’re excited to announce that we will be hosting a panel at Celebration on April 17th, kicking off at 10:30AM PT, where we will debut the official reveal trailer for Star Wars Battlefront. Make sure to get to the show early to secure your seat. But that is not all… All attendees will have a chance to see gameplay behind closed doors during the show at our official booth along with a few other activities starting that Friday.

Please be good, new Battlefront! I'll be buying a new console for you (and Rock Band 4).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
6/11 edit:
Polygon: Star Wars Battlefront's Deluxe Edition has gorgeous box art and Han Solo's blaster
For $69.99 (currently $69.96 on Amazon), those who purchase the Deluxe Edition on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will get the following, according to its product listing:
  • Made famous by Han Solo, the DL-44 is the blaster of choice for scoundrels across the universe.
  • Inflict more damage on enemy vehicles with the Ion Grenade.
  • The Ion Torpedo locks on to and delivers extra damage to your opponents’ vehicles.
  • Get electrified with the Ion Shock emote, available exclusively in the Deluxe Edition.
  • Celebrate your win in style and pump your fist in the air with the exclusive Victory emote.
I'll play the timed trial on EA Access and figure it out from there.
Probably PS4. But if my best friend isn't interest in playing this, I might go the XO route instead so I could eventually sell it for something when it goes into The Vault.
The original Battlefront was one of the first video games I played with my sons when my oldest was in fourth grade. This newest installment I'll be playing with him while he's away at college. Time does fly.
I'd prefer PS4, but most of the folks I play MP with are on X1, so the choice is made.
Hardline worked, so they might have figured out the whole "make games work on the internet" thing.
Wonder if killstreaks will result in you being able to be a Rebel or Empire hero / villain? I recall that was a feature in BFII?
Sounds like it. Well, maybe not through killstreaks, but some kind of villain mode, at least. Assuming heroes too.
An Impressive First Look At Star Wars: Battlefront
Before our solider turns his head, we heard a familiar breath drawn. A slow turn to the right reveals Darth Vader. His saber is glowing dangerously red, and he's just 10 feet away, looking menacing and ready to win this war by himself.
Our soldier fires off a few laser shots, but Vader blocks them with ease. Vader draws near and the demo ends.
Nicklaus Fegraeus, DICE's designer director for Star Wars Battlefront, says players get the chance to suit up as villains like Lord Vader by obtaining power-ups scattered on the maps. He went on to say that these encounters play out like boss battles. The power-ups range from shields, the ability to pilot a walker, or other things.
Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
I'm 99% sure I know the answer to this, but it's MP only, correct? I can't recall the other versions having and SP modes... and I wonder if that will be chastised like Titanfall was?
Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
I don't know if that's been confirmed or denied yet. However, Dice's Battlefield series usually have had some sort of SP campaign; the Bad Company series having the best SP experience in my opinion.
Edit: I take it all back. Looks like there is no SP campaign but there are story driven missions with coop.
Missions will put you in “highly replayable” scenarios inspired by events from the movies.
Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
I had my expectations kind of low, but I was still disappointed that we didn't see more game play. The opening trailer for the panel was a nice graphical showcase, but I wanted to see the game.
I am still skeptical, especially with how much I loved Battlefront 2. I played the shit out of Galactic Conquest, and instant action. It's too bad Pandemic is gone!
It worked out great for Titanfall, so I don't see why it wouldn't work with this one
Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)
Star Wars Battlefront will be a first- and third-person shooter; players can choose which perspective suits them best. The focus, DICE said, is on online multiplayer with up to 40-player battles, but the developer is creating offline challenges inspired by moments from the films that can be played solo, or cooperatively either online or split-screen. Fegraeus said those offline challenges will be highly replayable, with a variety of difficulty levels.
The game won't have a traditional campaign, DICE says, of the kind we've seen in the studio's recent Battlefield games.
I've never been a big Star Wars fan so other then playing a bit of the space sim a long time ago and the Pod Racer game, I haven't played much else Star Wars related. This looks interesting to me though, will see how reviews are.
