Anybody have some tips for using PvP shields?

I just got up to #2 (550 pts) and bought a shield. Hopefully that's enough to keep me in the Top 25.

your pvp is only up to 550 points? i wanna get in on yours. top in mine is 1134 as of rightnow. what i do is i will only buy the 3 hour one. i make a late run, get into top 25, then put it up. i usually don't care about getting top 10. and the difference between top 25 and top 50 is usually only iso anyway.

The top guy is at 600 pts. We only have 6 players above 500. In the Top Gun round, I think I was #15 with around 490 pts.

I'm probably in an easy PvP bracket, because I usually concentrate on the PvE events. I'll play a couple PvP rounds to rack up some quick awards. But these past two events are the first time I've gone above 200-300 pts.

Do you play throughout the full event and rack up some points before making your final run? Or do you wait and start playing a couple hours before it ends?

I ended up ranked #8. In my bracket, the Top 3 players were in the 700-900 range. Everyone else was in the 500's.

Got up to the Heroic 10 Pack tonight. I ended up with:

Ares, Spider-Man, Black Widow Original, Iron Man 40, Black Widow Grey, Wolverine Astonishing, Storm Classic, Bag Man, Daken, and Wolverine Patch. 6 out of the 10 ended up being useful to me, as I already have Wolverine and Storm maxed and Bag Man/Daken are worthless for me and automatic sells. Neat.

I've ended up in brackets where the top players had over 1,300 points in the last two PvP tournaments. Both games, I ended with over 800 points which would usually put me in the top ten easy. Instead, I barely broke 50. I'm not sure what Puzzle Quest gods I pissed off but I really miss the easier brackets.

Here's my tip of the day. Get Classic Magneto's blue power powered up to 5 ASAP and use him. It gives you 2 blue protect tiles that you can place anywhere on the board at a cost of 5 blue. You can start creating 4 and 5 blue matches all over the board. This gives you a ton of crits and you're grabbing a ton of other colors when you make 4 matches. It's like a giant mana battery that gives you crits.

When do you usually start the event? Right after the last one ended, a day later? I think that determines your bracket. But even when I wait, usually there are at least 15 or so people who have lvl 141s that top 1000 points that I either can't beat without a boost, or who could easily beat me back.

Classic Magneto and non bagman spiderman are currently the two most overpowered characters in the game, to the point where people expected them to be nerfed months ago.

Is there really no way to play with one save game across multiple iOS devices? It seems like this should be possible with the "save to facebook" option, but I don't see any way to force the device to load a save game, it just starts a new game.

Ouch, hadn't really thought about that. So if you upgrade your phone or have one die on you, nothing transfers over? I'd assumed it was somehow linked with your id.

If I click on the little "Facebook Save" button in the options screen my only option is to overwrite the existing save (from my other device). I see no way to actually use said save on a different device.

Seems like you need to do it before you start the game? I dunno, one guy on here says it messed things up, but others say it works fine:

Reading through the developer's forum, it sounds like the biggest factor is past performance. I was in an easy bracket because I had never scored more than 300-400 in a PvP before. I'm in a stronger bracket this time around. There are already a couple people in the 600-700 pts range. And they're all Level 85 and up.

Any tips on a good character to pair with Ares & Storm Classic? Is the Original Black Widow the best choice? Or maybe Magneto MN or Iron Man 40. Both those guys generate blue AP for Storm's Wind Storm which is my favorite attack.

Well, that never happened for me. Oh well, I wanted to be able to play on both devices whenever I wanted, this sounds like it's only good to do a one time transfer.

edit: Redownloaded the game and that worked. I think it's because I wasn't originally linked to Facebook on my iPhone until after I downloaded and launched PQ.

Magneto MN & Storm Classic were my go-to combo for quite a while. Having him create 5 blues makes it pretty easy to create 1-3 criticals, while charging up Storm's power at the same time. Haven't used Ares at all, so I'm not sure how he would affect the make-up. The problem I see with OBW is that I'd always want to be using her blue power instead of Storms if she was in the mix. I like sticking her with Thor and a third and alternating between that team as my primary & Magneto MN & Storm Classic for my back-ups.

Then again, maybe not. I'm afraid it's fucked up my save now. I loaded the save from Facebook and it says I'm not in a alliance, and only shows one event, Krakadoom, which ended last night.

edit: So sketchy. It seems like it's slowly transferring over my data. I think now everything is up to date. I'm still a bit concerned things will stay synced up correctly though.
