Debated putting this in the Game Deals thread, but that one seems more console centric. Steam is currently running a Halloween Sale on select titles through the 2nd.
http://store.steampowered.com/search...mhalloweensale
The link lists 50 or so titles, but a lot more are on sale than that. I've got a few on my wishlist that are on sale, but aren't shown, so there may be some hidden deals out there.

"remaster" of Turok released this week. (More a Port than a Remaster, imho)

I purchased Undertale during the Steam sale because of all the GOTY recognition it seems to be getting. Feels slow at the start so far though, I hope it picks up. The introduction area isn't doing much for me.

I'm usually hesitant with most "smaller" GOTY choices. I dunno why, but I know Journey was in a similar position a few years ago and that game puts me to sleep.

Re: PC Gaming Thread
I heard it starts out slow, so maybe that's all it is. I really want to play it, but with such an insane backlog, there's just no point right now. I think I have like 10 games I'm currently "playing", but I definitely don't have time for that.

- Worth: $4860 ($1354 with sales)
- Games owned: 504
- Games not played: 233 (46%)
- Hours on record: 1169h
Bought a ton of games this year, but with bundles and cheap games, I probably spent maybe $400 total.

I havent played it but my kids love it. they're constantly quoting characters from the game. The thing is, they've never played it! they've only watched other people play it on youtube or twitch. I asked my oldest daughter if she wanted to the play the game and she was like "meh, i've already seen all the endings."

I guess there are paths, that if you take, can alter future replays. Like if you play through using evil choices, then on replay you wont have the same opportunities to play through as pure good. At least i think thats what my daughter was telling me one time when I was trying to listen to a basketball game while driving.

Final Fantasy IX is coming to PC. This is one of my favorite FF games behind 6 and 7, and I always thought it was very underrated. Excited to play it again.

Yep, I can't wait. I hope it's a good port and not ported from mobile first and then to PC like FFVI. I never actually beat FFIX, but I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Re: PC Gaming Thread
I wonder why they skipped over VIII? Maybe that's the more popular over IX and they're saving that one for last of ports? Especially since there was a PC version of VIII back when it first released.

Re: PC Gaming Thread
VIII has been out for awhile and available on Steam, basically that same PC port if i'm not mistaken.

PC Gamer has a nice article ranking the top 50 most important/influential PC games.
http://www.pcgamer.com/most-important-pc-games/
Pretty solid list. I might have replaced Myst with The 7th Guest since the latter really ushered in the CD-ROM as a platform since it came out about 6 months prior. But I can understand why they picked Myst since it was so huge.
Edit: I think Alone in the Dark should probably be on the list since it's basically the grandfather of the survival horror genre.

Re: PC Gaming Thread
On the last page they describe some of their reasoning/methodologies.
http://www.pcgamer.com/most-important-pc-games/#page-12
It's an impossible task to narrow more than thirty years of history down to 50 games, and it meant sacrificing games we loved... for games that we ultimately felt had a larger impact on the overall history of the PC...
Narrowing the list was a constant battle between "first" and "best"—doing something first is obviously important, but sometimes it's the second or third time around that an idea really sticks, and changes everything.... And some games didn't make the cut simply because they weren't important as PC games, even if they were important in the grand scheme of things.
There are niches here and there that had their own monumentally important games, and it was hard to say how much those mattered in the grand scheme of things. Sims and wargames are lightly represented, but up against most of the games listed here, it was hard to argue for their inclusion. Hell, we even thought about Farmville... but to hell with Farmville.

Re: PC Gaming Thread
As far as RTS goes I can see how Dune II fits the bill first before Warcraft as far as establishing strategy games. Brood War is on there because of it's Korea and eSports influence.
