one way to look at crappy exclusives is that more companies are building better games for both systems, how is that bad?

I think I like the WiiU the most because of the stage of life I'm in; with young kids, I'm not playing shooters unless it's really late at night, and for whatever reason Nintendo is the only first party making what could be considered all ages games (as Infinity and Skylanders and lego games are all cross platform). That having been said, it's still regulated to the "playroom" where the TV is "only" 780p, while the big boys are in the main room with the 1080p 3d tv.
If you're not a fan of shooters, it's been pretty dry on next gen. What the heck are the Japanese buying?

God Eater 2: Rage Burst is the best selling next-gen title at the moment with 35.8k units sold. The PS Vita version sold 229k in the same time period. The #2 title is Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D for the 3DS. Consoles are hurting over there. Bloodborne should help a little, the Dark Souls series is equally popular in Japan and the US.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong
According to the new Media Create numbers, Dragon Quest Heroes, in its second week, has sold 304,729 units on the PS4 in Japan. It's not doing as well as the PS3 version, which has a ~90K unit lead.
Your God Eater 2 numbers are low, with the current numbers just shy of 50K sold. Dragon Ball Xenoverse is outselling God Eater 2 on the PS4. It's not in this week's chart, but last week, it was just shy of 60K sold. Far Cry 4 has moved more than 50K in Japan on the PS4. I can't find current MC numbers for GTA V, but Media Create has it at 116,633 copies sold in Japan on the PS4 as of January 25th, and the most recent Famitsu numbers peg it at just north of 150K.

I work for a company where I have to spend a lot of time in front of a computer but frequently don't have any projects to work on, so this is what happens.

Are you only looking at games that aren't also on the PS3?

Ah, gotcha. You're a little further back than last week -- those God Eater 2 numbers are for the week of Feb. 22nd, and there have been two reports since then, including Dragon Quest Heroes' stratospheric PS4 sales -- but I definitely see what you mean now.

Just give me DLNA, dammit!
And a kick in the cock for whoever brings up that Plex bullshit.

Admittingly, it'd be nice to just have DLNA and be done. Don't see that happening though.

But hey, I'm looking forward to Dragon Quest Heroes. That was the one huge advantage the PS3 held for me last gen, the proliferation of Japanese games because the Xbox died a horrible death there. Of course, this gen there's been little reason for Japanese game makers to make exclusives for the PS4 because they're not exactly pushing the envelope on graphics or anything; most games I've seen (like Natural Doctrine) come out on both PS3 and 4.

If you use PlayStation Network, Sony’s online platform for buying games and downloadable content for games, consider not keeping payment information on file and changing your password. It’s bad enough that stories of hacked accounts have surfaced in recent days, but these users report that Sony has given them no good options: they can eat hundreds of dollars’ worth of purchases, or lose access to their PSN accounts…forever.
If you’re wondering what kind of mischief can result when someone gets hold of your account, well, here’s the sad tale of a Reddit user who disputed $570 in fraudulent purchases made on their account. That’s what you’re supposed to do when fraudsters get hold of your account and make a bunch of unauthorized purchases, right? We thought so. Sony disagrees, though. They’re holding this gamer’s account hostage until they pay back the $570 in fraudulent charges. No, really.
I explained that this was a fraudulent purchase made by someone who had hacked into my account. I had never given my username or password to anyone. They did not budge on their position, though. Sony is holding my account hostage until I pay their ransom.
This user isn’t alone. It happened to another person, who posted to Reddit before taking the step of disputing the charges. The situation is similar, with about $600 in fraudulent charges that Sony won’t admit are fraudulent. Here’s the dilemma that Sony has given this user: they can dispute the charges and have their account indefinitely banned from PSN, or they can pay the $450 and have their console banned for only six months.
This victim has turned down offers of gifted games, instead wanting to turn the world’s attention to Sony’s bad security practices. The company is displaying a particular gift for blaming users for their account breaches, which is rather ironic considering the terrible breach of employee data, films, and employee e-mails late last year in another branch of the company.

Sony has no leg to stand on when it comes to online security breaches, be it their movie division or PSN, they've been plagued with problems, and they should be bending over backwards apologizing rather than what they've been doing to this Reddit guy (if it is true - I'm willing to be it is).

That's exactly why I buy a PSN or Xbox Live card when I need to buy something from the respective stores. No way am I putting my credit card info. through there. Steam too for that matter.

Any shit you store anywhere online can be hacked. Sony should do a better job of dealing with alleged fraud, though. Don't worry Deftones as you can safely go back to your One.

Any 'shit' you store anywhere period can be hacked. I received a letter from one of my insurance providers a few days ago informing me that their entire database was mined by hackers. Sure, limiting the number of places you buy things from limits your potential exposure, but if you think buying a PSN card with your credit card from Best Buy or Amazon is any safer than just adding funds through PSN, then you're just kidding yourself. Individually, the risk is pretty much the same, but I do try to limit the number of places I use plastic at these days.

Well to date I haven't heard of Best Buy getting hacked, unlike PSN and Xbox Live.

I think slop is still mad that he didn't read the requirements for a Plex account.
Also, I think we've had this discussion before but PSN was hacked where user and credit card information was stolen. I don't believe that's been the case for XBox Live.

Be afraid of Playstation, guys!
And panic, because Sony can't make games anymore and PS4 has no games! And the Souls series is terrible and mediocre and won't sell any consoles!
