re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong
I'm about to order a PS4 for my Father's Day gift and want a game to go with it.
Is Infamous SS still considered the best game (of what is currently available) to show off the PS4's next-gen prowess? Or has something else replaced it? I remember reading previous posts stating AC Black Flag is another good one however I have it for the PS3 though I'm sure I will also pick it up for the PS4 at some point.

Battlefield 4 is allegedly fixed now, and it's pretty impressive visually, but I'd probably wait a few months for eye candy games and maybe go with something like Far Cry 4 or AC Unity.
Have you been locking in licenses for the PS plus games? Some good stuff in there, especially Resogun. Also, give Warframe (free) a download. It's a really pretty and fun game that is pretty far ahead of last gen to my eye.
Last thing I can think of is Tomb Raider. If you haven't played it, it's gorgeous on PS4 and is a great game.

It depends on your tastes, but I'm hesitant to recommend Infamous as a full-price game, even if it is the best looking game on the system. Both Infamous and Killzone are gorgeous, but they don't feel fully fleshed out.

Killzone is $29 at BB. I've read that it is boring but visually gorgeous. But, I've read that about Infamous too.

I'm waiting for the inevitable Battlefield 4 Premium Edition with all the DLC.
Oh yeah, I've locked up all of the "free" PS4 Plus games since launch. Also, Tomb Raider is another one that I have on the PS3 though I haven't really gotten far in it; just past the intro I think.
Thanks!

Infamous SS, Assassin's Creed IV, KillZone, and Battlefield 4 are the best looking PS4 games imho. But I'm easy to impress and Rivals isn't too far behind. I hear NBA2K14 is really nice looking too.
I bought A. Creed for $19, KillZone for $25, Infamous at full price. I'm happy with A. Creed and Infamous, I traded KillZone in.

It's probably worth that. It's fun and pretty and it meta'd rightly at about an 8. Just moderate your expectations a bit.
No worries, and it sounds like you have the right take on all of these.
Also agree with Rich about Need for Speed, the only disk I own at this point. Fun game and quite pretty in a subtle way.
Definitely give some time to Resogun, Warframe, Pixeljunk Shooter, Trine 2 (gorgeous), and probably Outlast. I also enjoyed Contrast despite considerable jank. My true recommendation would be to just stick with the freebies for now and see what happens this fall with the big AAA titles. Also keep an eye on Planetside 2.

Just remember that Infamous SS is more like an open world old school arcade beat 'em up akin to I dunno, the original Double Dragon games (with powers), than a GTA clone.

At a minimum, don't get too obsessive about trying to clear out every little event in every area, because they can get repetitive.
Finally, be evil. Not gray, evil. It's more fun that way IMO, because being "good" requires a lot of precision, and evil lets you really cut loose. There's no upside to playing it down the middle.

Being good was easy too, I had fun with both, but yes never sit in the middle.
The game is fine in big chunks as long as you aren't one of those 100% everything people. I actually enjoyed it more once it turned into an arcade shooter in spots. One particular battle for some reason reminded me of Gunvalkyrie, for better or worse.

I played alot of Crackdown on Xbox and a little bit of Infamous 1 on PS3. Does it play similar to these?
Edit: Well, I am sort of one of those 100%'ers, lol. One of the things holding me back from double-dipping on Tomb Raider or Black Flag is I haven't finished it on my PS3 trophy list. Having said that, I am trying very hard to not let my OCD kick in too much. And doing better with it on the PS with trophies than I ever did on the Xbox with achievements.

I never played any of the earlier Infamous or Killzone games but got them for the PS4 (came over from the 360). I liked them both. Infamous really surprised me with the open world city of Seattle giving good play value of going thru in both "Good & Evil'...which does alter your playing. A super looking game.
Killzone "to me" was not boring by any means and had some of the best lighting & surface detail I've ever seen...even better than BF4 in my book. Never did any of the other modes in MP but check out some actual gameplay on all the various parts of the game. Under $30 it's a good second game.
I know it's not on sale yet but I do recommend Wolfenstien: The New Order....it's been a real surprise and a fun ride. The actual user reviews are better than the critic & site ones. And don't forget trying Warframe...well worth it.

Thanks for the replies everyone. If I do try Warframe, then I will definitely need some help. I tried keeping up in the Warframe discussion thread and it was very confusing.

100%'ing is fine, just know that the city is divided into zones, and that methodically cleaning out those zones as you go isn't the most fun way to do it. I'd suggest doing stuff as you come across it and then coming back in the end-game to clean out the zones of all the little side activities ("activities" as opposed to "missions").

Gooter : You can save more this week on games by pricematching Best Buy's price at Target and "preordering" any of their selected upcoming games for $1 which will knock off another $15. It's a little YMMV, but apparently it's working for most people

I can vouch for Chess as being the "local" Warframe Tutor Expert. Good game through out but it is more fun with group play

The shards are easier to find. Completing certain portions of each section will make them show up on the map.
Nearly 10% of players got the platinum trophy on Second Son. Of the games that I've looked at, that's unusually high. Only 2% for the first game. 4% for 2. GTA V is only 0.1%.

EDIT: It worked! I got Infamous SS for $25 and Killzone for $15. Thanks!!
Was tempted to get AC BF for around $23 but passed. I also went to BB and joined the GCU for $60.

Second Son was shorter. A lot of filler was left out. The first game would have you destroy something (balloon, bus, poison vat) then have you destroy a couple dozen more of them. Too many of those in the first game.

Second Son's plat rate is around 40% among trophy hunters. GTA V on the other hand is 2% on one site and 4% on the other.
InFamous is pretty easy across the board, with around 25% for the original and 33% for the sequel.

Seen on CAG :
They also had a list of available games. Don't know if that should be posted here due to the NDA, but I can post this link to an article with the included games for anyone interested in it.
By downloading and using the E3 app on your PS4, you can get access to the Playstation Now Closed Beta.
Right now the supply is depleted, but there's a message that says there will be more today at 12:00 PM PDT / 3:00 PM EDT.

I'll try to download that when I get home, but if stu could come through with another code, I'd be super grateful.

I have no idea how many codes they have per day, but they don't last long, gone probably within an hour.
