re: PS4 Release Thread: Kill Launch App #Driveclub due October 2014!!!

Another big win for PS4 owners...or at least those who haven't played it on PS3...

The Last of Us is Coming to PlayStation 4
According to PlayStation’s Eurasian Software Market Manager.

According to NeoGAF user Quirah (via user chadskin), Sercan Sulun – PlayStation’s Eurasian Software Market Manager -- says that while a sequel to The Last of Us may not be forthcoming any time soon, the “first game will be released this summer for PS4 as a physical and digital copy, with enhanced graphics.”

If true – and it appears that it is, as Sulun is a high-ranking member of Sony that’s been with the company since August of 2012 – this would be a huge win for PS4 gamers hungry for some first party content. Other than Infamous: Second Son, Driveclub, MLB 14: The Show, and The Order: 1886, no triple-A first party games have been announced in PlayStation 4's 2014 calendar.

So when are the remastered Uncharteds coming out then? And a remastered remastered God of War Collection?

Uncharted will probably be a bit longer since there are 3 of them compared to 1 game for TLOU. As for GOW, since the first 2 games came out on PS2, we might just get releases of 3 and the prequel first.

More remasters? Uhg. I'm sure that's the real reason behind the Gaikai BS? "Don't wanna stream? No problem. We got some bright shiny remasters for you."

To be fair, as an Xbox One gamer, I would totally be happy for some remasters.

I'd be down for The Last of Us w/ DLC shined up for the PS4. Good stuff.

re: PS4 Release Thread: Kill Launch App #Driveclub due October 2014!!!

I would like a remastered The Last of Us too. I never had a PS3, but I am considering getting a PS4 sometime this year.

What I really want though is a remastered Arkham trilogy with the equivalent of max PC settings.

I don't think the market for remasters really overlaps significantly with Gakai. Gakai is basically just a rental service. I personally don't like to rent. I want to own what I purchase. So I have zero interest in digital streaming services like Gakai, but I would most definitely love some actual remasters that I can buy and own.

That's not exactly the kind of The Last of Us news I wanted to read. I'd rather know about an expected sequel date.

at the tepid response to The Last of Us on PS4 (not to mention indies). It's the best game of last year IMO, and probably top 5 of last generation. I rented it on PS3 in anticipation of it releasing on PS4, so it's pretty great news for me and also for the apparently large number of people who switched from 360 to PS4 and never got to play it.

Hopefully it will include the DLC and some framerate upgrades. The actual graphics were already phenomenal.

I'd love to see similar treatment for Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Orange Box, Arkham, and Uncharted, and I'd probably rebuy all of them at the $20-30 price point.

I bought The Last of Us for the PS3 on Black Friday, but I've gotten so caught up in other games that I haven't even started it! I'm in for an upgrade if it's on the calendar soon.

I bought the Survival Edition of TLOU when it came out, but will definitely buy it again if it includes the Left Behind DLC. It was my GOTY last year and will look absolutely gorgeous on PS4. But yeah, one has to think this is just a taste since the sequel (if there is one) is still at least 3 years out.

I was hugely disappointed by The Last of Us, good story but good god was the gameplay dull, but a PS4 version should have some nice visual updates and since it was a late gen game I'm sure there are some that missed it.

And if that PS3 copy is just sitting around... and some of us only have a PS3...

I'm willing to share! I gave one of the other guys here a copy of Rumble Roses XX that I was sent to review a million years ago.

I'd rather have physical media as well but never warmed to remasters (with a few minor exceptions). I'd prefer backwards compatibility via emulation even if it were only 80% effective.

Now if games were instead being rebuilt from the ground up (rather than just a few minor tweaks here and there), I'd be more interested.

re: PS4 Release Thread: Kill Launch App #Driveclub due October 2014!!!

HD updates are generally worthless because a lot of these companies don't do texture and model updates, they tend to increase the resolution and maybe apply a filter. The handheld-to-PC/Console being the obvious exception, though AC: Liberation was kind of a sloppy job.

Also the RE4 re-release wasn't horrible. Obviously dated, but not as bad as some.

However, PC games that were ported to Xbox 360/PS3 could definitely stand new ports for the PS4 and Xbox One. Far Cry 3 on PC, for instance, was leaps and bounds superior to the nearly unplayable PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, a new port of that game (though I wouldn't expect "maxed out" settings, but damn close) running at 60 fps would be nice.

Crysis 3 was mediocre, but that game maxed out on PC was a sight to behold as well.

I dig the remastered releases. Having just played the original Splinter Cell one recently, I was very surprised at how good it looked on PS3 for being an OG Xbox game.
The more of these releases, the better as far as I am concerned. I like being able to carry games over this way to the new consoles, especially since backwards compatibility is a thing of the past.

No, I agree with Rich2, it looked nice, but it was painfully dull - put me to sleep.

See, I think this would be complete bullshit. Maybe because I'm cynical, but now I understand why they're not making these new systems backwards-compatible. It's so they can re-sell us games we already bought for way more money it takes them to "update" them. What a bunch of greedy bastards!

I thought the same but also thought the story wasn't that great
didn't care for the characters like I do in ND's other franchise

and the enemy AI was beyond stupid in segments

highly overrated game

To each his own, I suppose. I thought it was about best written game I've ever played, and I thought the "Uncharted with light stealth and crafting" gameplay was pretty great too.

Didn't bother me last gen with Ratchet, God of War, Sly, Prince of Persia, Ico/Shadow, etc., and it probably won't bother me this gen either. I think it's great to have the option of getting a newer better version of a game you love.

Yeah, I think The Last of Us is probably one of the best examples of the whole "are games considered art" discussion. The game delivers a better story than most movies made today.

I was mainly joking, since Sony was going back to the well to drum up some content for this.

I'll say this, after Tomb Raider remastered dropped to half price within a month of release, I'll be hard pressed to buy a current gen remaster at full price.
