Re: Disney Infinity - Questions

Does anyone else think that the controls for vehicles/animals suck? They are not so bad when you are just cruising around but when you are forced to ride one and pickup collectibles in a limited amount of time it is a nightmare. The worst one so far is the stupid pig in the Monsters University playset.

IMO, I think it is done right - while that cars seem to handle like cars, the other transport vehicles have different handling ... Opposite of a previous poster, I like how the boats handle in the Pirates level - why should it be super smooth and agile?

As for the Muppets ... hell yes!

Have you rode the pig yet while trying to collect 60 collectibles in 60 seconds? Ugh!

yep .. failed multiple times ... I think that is part of what I am liking so far ... I hate playing a game that is easily beatable the first time out ... at least this challenges me a little

I still struggle with some of the bike-based challenges in the MI level.

In another story ... I'm pleasantly surprised to see store shelves nearly-bare this weekend. Even with the B2G1 sale at Target .. they only had a few single-packs on the pegs. Has there been any release of sales figures on this?

Re: Disney Infinity - Questions

the ship on Pirates gets easier to control once you get upgrades, but it is still terrible. the cars handle just fine. i don't particularly like the helicopter controls on Incredibles. I have difficulty with it, so I can imagine kids probably have the same issue.

I have done that pig collectible on fraternity row at least 50 times and have yet to beat it. Being a challenge is one thing but making it where the pig slides around like he is on vasoline and very hard to finish in time if you happen to pass a collectible.

I didn't have a problem at all with the that pig challenge. The one that gave me a lot of problems was the first bike challenge over at Fear Tech. That became much easier after I figured out you get a little speed boost after you've done a few tricks.

On sept 7th at the TRU trade event there is supposed to be a $20 off coupon for the starter set and a 40% off Disney infinity accessory coupon. Also the power discs should be 2 for $6 and supposedly the second tru exclusive disc will be out.

There is also some sort of free trick or treat bag for the first X amount of people at the event.
I think I'm in for this game...anyone know where that $20 off coupon is coming from? I called my local TRU and they said they didn't know anything about it, but assumed it would be emailed out Thursday or Friday. I guess Ill just keep an eye out for it.

editted to add - DUH! click the link dumbass!

TRU usually gives these coupons out at the event.

I'm kinda blown away at how big this game is. I started with the M:U portion of the game and thought the university would be it. Color me impressed.

Did anyone else go to their TRUS trade event? We went and traded a few and we grabbed two of the new Tron discs. Over the past couple of days I bought a few bags full of pack and took them home to check the content and we have put together two complete collections minus one second Rapunzel theme.

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

I went to 2 different TRUS today to attempt to trade with people. Overall, it was pretty successful for me. I was only short one disc by the end of it, but I found that one on Ebay for really cheap.

It was funny how it was advertised as a kids event, but most of the people who were trading were adults. Most were pretty nice, but there were a couple who were obviously there out to cheat people out of the rarest discs.

Since I have an almost complete set, I'll probably go to the next trade event and just give my extra discs away. I wish I had known/thought about taking the bags home to check them out. I have 8 of those freaking Carl canes with tennis balls. All 8 were found in a batch of 10 packs that I bought a few weeks ago. At the trade event today, no one needed that one!

I took my youngest son and (for quite a bit) we were the only ones there. They only had 15 of the new disc packs - we bought one for the Tron and actually got the Mickey vehicle as well (which was one of the 3 that we needed.

Two other adults showed up and we managed to trade two that they needed for 2 we needed - so we completed the first set. A father came with two of his kids and - even though we were done - we traded three more of our doubles for ones that they needed.

FYI - the blue disk book (TRU exclusive) has an extra page for 9 disks - including the TRU exclusives ... Fortunately, the 40% they had for yesterday helped. (Though I also bought the USB extender with another coupon).

If any of you guys are considering getting this book, and I suggest it if you are going to collect these discs, then I would grab it if you see it. I'm not sure if this is a limited print but my store has yet to get any more of them in once their first shipment sold out.

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

Looks like the launch has been a success, its sold 400k units in 2 weeks:

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-0...lyst-says.html

Shoppers bought 400,000 units, Olson said in a research note published today. First-week spending matched the debut of Activision Blizzard Inc. (ATVI)’s Skylanders Giants game, Olson said in an earlier note. That title was the top 2012 holiday children’s game, according to Activision.

“Sales have been excellent, beyond our expectations,” said Richard Barry, chief merchandising officer at Toys “R” Us Inc., based in Wayne, New Jersey. “Kids are really engaging in the brand. They are not only buying the software, but they are really engaging in the characters and the power discs.”
I'm guessing its going to be pretty nuts during november as well.

I read today it only did 225k in August.

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/article...since-april-11

But Cowen & Co. estimates that a number of other high-profile releases also sold well, including Saints Row IV (522,000 units), Disney Infinity (225,000 units), Splinter Cell: Blacklist (209,000 units) and Pikmin 3 (185,000 units).
175k is a lot.

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

I'd imagine it is somewhere in between. But, figure that this is a launch not during prime season (Christmas) and it's more expensive for the game than most other games, it's a pretty successful launch. I'm sure they are anticipating crushing it for the holiday season.

How long before they release seasonal variants? I would buy a santa mickey mouse... Skylanders is releasing a Halloween themed eyebrawl. It's ugly as hell but I will still buy it...

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

I thought we would be sitting this one out but my grandson came in the other day and said "I think that Infinity looks pretty cool after all. I might want a copy." Of course that means a new console 'cause there's no way I'll purchase this one for the Wii after hearing about all the issues specific to that console.

I went to the event and bout the starter bundle, the cars world, and sidekick pack. I picked up 10 of the booster packs too...

I enjoyed playing around with it I haven't actually done any missions, just a few of the trainings and the battle arena. Hopefully i have some time to play for a few hours this weekend.

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

http://www.denofgeek.us/games/disney...wreck-it-ralph

October 1 - Woody will be available as a Walmart exclusive, at least for a limited time.
October 5 - Jack Skellington will be available as a GameStop exclusive through October 28
October 22 - The Toy Story Play Set, which includes Buzz Lightyear & Jessie, will be available at select retailers. Disneystore.com is currently taking pre-orders.
November 22 - Wreck-It-Ralph will be available. For some reason, IGN thinks it might be a Best Buy exclusive, but I'm not sure where they're getting that information.
November 26 - The Frozen Toy Box Pack and second series of power discs will be available.
