Unlock character? You do that by buying them. Venellope comes out soon.

I've been enjoying the Cars playset so far.

Anyone have and power discs they want to trade. Somehow I have ended up with 3 Finding Nemo theme discs. I'd like to trade the other two away.

Yes,

That's the one. How about Nemo for your Mickey car? Send me a PM and we can swap addresses.

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

I'm still waiting for the start kit to hit $30-ish... I got into Skylander that way. I can't believe I actually paid full price for the 3rd Skylander game at launch! IMO, Disney Infinity will always be a copy of Skylander, it's kind of lame when you think about it in that way. Of course, the selling point of DI is the characters, very well established array of franchises.

Comparing to Skylander with DI, the Skylander figures now have lights, they actually glow when placed on the portal and the lights are powered via some magnetic charger through the portal, so you don't have to change the batteries. Does DI figures have anything like that?

Yeah, the base has lights underneath the stands that can change colors during various parts. Crystal Lightning McQueen glows all the time because he's a translucent figure.

I wouldn't call it an out right clone. I'd say the variety of game types offered by DI as well as the Toy Box is what sets it apart from Skylanders.

Skylanders playsets offer you a new level to play the same style of game in and once that is done, you really do not have anything else to do with your characters.

At least in DI's defense, each play set offers a different experience that is fairly lengthy. The PotC set offers the naval combat & exploration, the Cars experience is it's own game, etc. On top of all of that, you can take your characters into the Toy Box and mess around for hours just trying to build shit with all of the goodies it offers.

DI's characters/figures are also of a higher build quality in my opinion. They are just a really nice build. That combined with, like you said, the huge established backlog of characters available to DI and I think it is a better product and has a lot more potential for expansion.

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

Is it true that you need to buy additional figures to unlock platinum trophy for the PS3? Or 100% achievements for Xbox 360?

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

As far as I know, the only purchase that may be required is if you got unlucky and received all octagon discs in your starter kit.

There is one Cheevo/Trophy called "Power Up!" based around using a power disc.

I believe it was a VERY slim chance that you didn't get a power disc in your starter pack. So possibly $5 extra to 100% the game.

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

There was a price mistake for the PS3 version on Walmart.com earlier this morning for a period of time and I was able to pick three of them up for $12.xx or so each. I ordered them online and then went and picked them up right before the cancelations took place.

Lucky... I was looking forward to join the DI crowd for that price, but couldn't get a copy. Sold out online and can't pick up from stores (no Walmarts in NYC, not counting the one in Long Island, which is far anyway).

I'm guessing many places will slash the starter sets so they can sell more of the different figures and power packs for black friday/cyber monday.

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

I know this is probably far fetched, but I'm looking for anyone that may have an extra of any of the following Power Discs:

Dumbo Flying Elephant
Astro Blasters Space Cruiser
Abu the Elephant
Tugley Wood
Tron User Control

I can offer up:
2 x

1 x

1 x

I would highly recommend the CAG Power Disc Trading Thread. I was able to set up a trade using that thread very easily.

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

Any difference in this game between the systems? How does it utilize the WiiU gamepad? Also, can someone recommend the best figures for a three year old? I'm guessing the Cars?

No, sorry, I meant actual gameplay. Are any of the figure's games more fun or easier to grasp than another?

I don't, was thinking of a gift for a 10 year old and a 3 year old.
