Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

My local Walmart actually had Woody out on this past Saturday, but they wouldn't let me buy him. Either way, swung by this morning and grabbed him.

Will the Wreck It Ralph set have its own levels? or is it just figures for toy box mode?

I would get this for around 40 or so but I don't think these power discs are worth as much as they want us to believe they are worth.

How is this game selling? Is it doing Skylanders-type business? I wonder because I see lots of stock and shelf space at retailers like Target and Best Buy and I'm wondering if that's due to high demand and production or whether it's not selling much.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/13/bu...ales.html?_r=0

"Infinity, which allows players to mix and match Disney and Pixar characters in self-constructed video game adventures, sold about 294,000 starter kit units in August in the United States, according to data compiled by NPD Group, a market research firm. Infinity went on sale on Aug. 18. Starter kits cost about $75. "

Doesn't seem too bad.

The more kids find out about it. The more they want it. My 11yr old daughter was talking about it and now abunch of her friends are asking their parents for it. Id think Christmas sales will give it a sales bump.

I actually like this quite a bit. The price is a good deal versus buying the blind packs and hoping to get them all. Look at it this way...even if you get super lucky and get all 20 different discs in the first 10 packs you buy at $5 each, that's $50 right there. The albums are $10. There's your $60. And no way on Earth will you get them all in one shot, so then you are buying more and hoping, or going through the hassle of trading. This is realistically the most economical way to get the full set.

Of course this doesn't take sales into account, such as Toys R Us buy 1 get 1 for $1 that they did last time, but even then you will be lucky to get a full set under $50 anyway.

All that said, I almost wish I wouldn't have gone down the path of collecting them all. Other than flying around on Dumbo for awhile, I'm not sure I've actually used any of the series 1 discs. But I'm a sucker and they make my daughter happy, so collect them I will! LOL

You have to cheat and use the portal to see what's in each pack before you open them! I would probably buy the set if it was $40-$50. Hopefully TRU doesn't have another special book as I don't see how the hell they're going to release all the other discs before set 2 comes out.

I'm guessing you will see a huge push as we head into November.

Oh in regards to cheating with the packs, Toys R US has pulled them off the shelf, you now have to ask for one, and you can only get 4 at a time.

Target has also pulled them off the shelf. (or maybe they were just all sold out?)

Lame! Makes me even less likely to buy them now.

My target stores have them all hanging up still.

That's 20 discs. If you got 10 packs, and were somehow lucky enough to get uniques in every package (not very likely), you're already at $49.99. Seems less expensive, but not as much "fun".

The local Toys R Us here still has them all hanging out for full molestation. I'd say about 30 or so hanger's worth.

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

We picked up all of this (figure, game guide and poster) for 22.98 plus tax. Get there and get your free poster. It is actually a nice poster on thick stock and not a flimsy movie poster.
Spoiler:

I also found out that the poster glows when I took it to put it in one of the bedrooms. Jack and the Infinity logo both glow. Also, make sure you grab that exclusive guide for ten bucks if you can as it has about 60 more pages than the regular one. I have to go back to swap the one in the pic as they couldn't find them, go figure, when they opened this morning.

My Jack is on the way ... I did get Woody from Wal-Mart today (ordered online and delivered via FedEx) ... I only hope that they put out playsets for Nightmare Before Christmas and Wreck-It-Ralph down the line ...

The only way that's gonna happen is in Infinity 2 (ugh!).

I've heard they already have a 5 year plan. It makes me sad.

Meaning?

I know it's already been found out that there's no additional content for Infinity beyond what's on the disc. So that means the Toy Story playset is the last one, and then the smattering of Toybox-only figures as well. They can't have any DLC because of the Wii version.

I'm hoping they ditch the Wii version for their next release (hopefully within the next year or so) and provide some kind of disc or something with future playsets for people that don't have broadband.

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

What bugs me is that they have a plan to milk money out of us over 5 years by providing figures for one set but maybe the playset for said figures in the next game. I would almost put money on it that the next game will have some Wreck It Ralph playset and I wouldn't put it past them to have it as a level pack rather than on the next game disc.

Re: Disney Infinity - Disney's Infinite Moneymaker

Just picked this up tonight for me and the kids. We have the starter set of course then we got the Cars play set and I bought the following:

Violet
Woody
Jack Skellington
Dash

the Kids are loving the toybox.

Does anyone know how to unlock characters such as Venelope, Dumbo etc?

thanks
