Re: Watch Dogs

So it seems we were right for the most part. A fun game, but overhyped. An 8+ is good enough for me. Wolfenstein got a 7.8 and I love that game.

Re: Watch Dogs

I was up at 11:30pm and said, "Fuck it. Let me just pick up my pre-order at Best Buy at the midnight opening."

Got there within ten minutes. There was a line of ten people ahead of me. Best Buy was already completing people's pre-orders or transactions to get people out the doors by 12:01am. Three more people showed up before midnight. Everyone was out the door right at 12:00am on the dot.

Eight copies were sold on Xbox One (two were the collector's editions), five were sold on PS4, and one lone copy on 360. Whole stacks of copies of the game (which included PS3 and PC) went untouched.

Saddest (but most efficient) midnight launch I've ever seen.

Played the first mission. Controls are shit compared to GTAV. We'll see if I keep the game or not once I beat it.

They just don't have enough competition on the new consoles yet. If you weren't into Dead Rising or Infamous, AC4 was just about your only open-world option.

It's definitely been a long wait though.

Re: Watch Dogs

Plus AC4 was much better than Infamous and Dead Rising.

Watch Dogs sounds like a typical Ubisoft first entry, good but not excellent.

There were plenty of opportunities to get it cheap on the PS4. You just had to buy a cheap PS3 copy and use the enclosed code for the opportunity to get the digital PS4 version for an additional $10. I got the game using a GCU coupon and discount for $6.xx at Best Buy+ $10 in the PSN store.
The upgrade option ended in March.

Re: Watch Dogs

I guess this only applies to the U.S., but I was a little miffed they couldn't release this one a week earlier...would have had the whole 3-day holiday weekend to try it out...now I'm limited to maybe a couple hours after work each day until the weekend.

Those of you who will be playing it today (or did last night)...please take time to post your pros and cons. Looking forward to reading some of the first impressions here.

Re: Watch Dogs

That's a great point. They probably would have moved a lot of copies over the "shopping" weekend if they'd released on Friday.

Re: Watch Dogs

Best Buy is also running a deal, buy Watch Dogs and get $20 off select games. If you are a GCU member, you could grab Killzone for $16

It's kind of neat that you start out in the Cubs locker room although it is a bit cramped.

I felt bad when I just went to an ATM and withdrew about 15,000 bucks out of various peoples' accounts.

It seems money is very easy to get. Some of the conversations were funny.

Reading through the thread over on Operation Sports and everyone there is raving about it. Looks like I will be buying after all...

Does it actually say Wrigley Field? That's pretty cool If they had actual names of famous landmarks and streets. Never played a game and have the City use real names of places.

Re: Watch Dogs

Wrigley's in it!?!? AWESOME!

I hated that GTA V didn't have a Dodger Stadium stand-in. On my way to Target now.

It is not actually Wrigley but I'm quite sure that the locker room in the game is nearly identical in size to the one at Wrigley Field. However, the stadium itself and everything else is much nicer.

Now, hurry up and get that plat!

Re: Watch Dogs

I live pretty close to Wrigley so i'm curious to see how my neighborhood looks and/or if it's even in the game. I think a few other people said this already but I'm really excited just to see how they translated the city into the game and will be spending a lot of time just travelling around and checking out real world places.

Re: Watch Dogs

I'm assuming it will be like GTA where things resemble neighborhoods but on a much smaller scale.

GTA IV was very easy for me to navigate since I am familiar the with the NYC area. GTA V I am totally lost on sense of direction.

We'll see with this. I grew up on the far SW side of the city - I don't expect it to be represented.

To this day, the best thrill I ever got in gaming was playing Test Drive Unlimited online with my buddy and driving a race from my street, past his place and on to Aloha Stadium on their reasonably recreated map of Oahu.

Re: Watch Dogs

How does it compare to sleeping dogs? Now by that I mean city-wise, people interaction-wise, and environment-wise.

Had a feeling it wouldn't be comparable to a GTA title (but come on, it has to be better than V right?).
