I worded that wrong. I'm getting one from Best Buy on launch day but I didn't pre order. Gonna wait in line EARLY Thursday. Will I get a Day One Edition?

I'd wager and say no, the day one editions are sold out most likely.

Those new achievement screens are pretty awesome.

What's the difference between the Day One Edition and the standard X1 other than the wording on the controller?

Isn't that enough?

Okay, a nicer box and a useless 0G Achievement.

Microsoft Store. Ordered online. UPS info is still unavailable, though.
Last time they shipped me something on a Saturday, I got it on the following Tuesday.

Wow, that's awesome (unless, of course they put a temporary ban on your console until the 22nd, which seems possible).

Yeah, I expect that to happen. Meanwhile, I'll just crash UPS.com by reloading my tracking page a million times in the next 5 days.

I hope I'm not screwing up by getting the Nyko battery packs and the charging cradle. I HATE having to messing with the cables coming out of the system plus with a toddler around he fucking LOVES the cords in front of the entertainment center. I ordered my son a controller when I ordered him Lego Marvel for Xmas. I went with the Nyko battery kit since they are generous to actually provide 2 packs and at that point the charging stations see like a no brainer.

The Microsoft Store shipped mine too. Per UPS I'm supposed to get it on Tuesday.

Funny story: I had two ordered. One on Amazon. One from Microsoft. I placed the Microsoft order almost instantly when it was announced and then placed the Amazon order hours later because Microsoft was charging sales tax and Amazon wasn't. I had been meaning to cancel the Microsoft order but was too lazy to call them. Spoiled by Amazon.

Cut to a few months later, the financial reality of buying a new console approaches and I decide I'm still on team Xbox but I figure I can wait a few months for it. Canceling with Amazon is easy but I still don't feel the need to call Microsoft because the credit card I used is maxed out. It will all work out on its own.

That was the story until this morning when I got my shipping notice and saw I was even deeper in debt.

But hey, I'm actually excited about it, and by canceling the Breaking Bad box set I freed up some funds for some games too. It'll be disheartening to see my tax rebate making less of a dent in my debt next year but hey, I'll have a good weekend.

I have no debt. I bought a PS4 and XO. Got yelled at by my wife as we don't need it.

Again, I have no debt. I told my wife that I wanted to buy a new 3D television. She yells and screams at me more. What makes this story even better is than I convinced my mother to purchase the TV for my birthday/Hanukkah gift which pissed my wife off even more.

Fuckin' A. I should've never got married.

I actually have a pretty manageable debt. That one card. Just paid my car off. There's still no way around the fact that the roughly $800 I'm dumping onto this should go towards my debt and not against it.

On a happier note: all these anticipatory nerdy fanboy feelings that I had suppressed are now back in full force.

so if MS is shipping early, I'm wondering if Amazon might do the same. Once can only hope!

Does the actual disc need to be in the X1 if you didn't buy a digital copy??? I hope not but I think maybe it does after the 180 news. Refresh my memory plz. My first two games will be hard copies and I'd like not to have to keep the disc in for instance I could be playing 2k but have a Blu Ray in the X1 and thus could switch back and forth

Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)

i am pretty sure you need the physical copy of the disc in the machine to play non-digital games.

Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)

Yup. They've said that if you try to play one of your disc-based games without the disc in the tray, you'll be prompted to either pop the disc in or purchase the digital license.
