I don't remember if it's been posted but anyone else get the One controller yet? I just got it from Gamestop.
Feels really nice. A big step up and I really liked the 360 controller. |

what is this converter for they speak of? Not 100% sure that's what Amazon is referring to, though. |

Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
Quick and possible dumb question. All games must be downloaded correct? If I buy a game and download it fully to the One, do I still need to put this disc in to play it? I cant sell it and then still play it right? I want to go digital but best buy has buy 3 xbox one and get 25.oo reward points, that intrigues me

Tons of backlash later, here we are and it works like any other console. |
Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
All games must be installed. If it's a retail disc, you need to put the disc in the tray for it to play.
About digital, they have talked about implementing some of the things they initially announced, like reselling digital games and stuff like that. But I don't think that's going to happen soon. I mean not in 2014. |

Sorry if it been asked, but when do reviews start popping up?

Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
[QUOTE=RichC2;11908607]Yes, you still need the disc. The original plan for the Xbox One was for you to install the disc and NOT have to use the disc, but that required a once-a-day check-in via the internet, and a convoluted trade-in method that relegated used game sales to stores like Gamestop and would deactivate your game on your account.
Tons of backlash later, here we are and it works like any other console.[/QUOTE Thanks I thought that was the case. I plan on going Ryse, DR3 and Forza 5 physical and 3 more digital but who really knows |

I think the bigger question is WHY won't they give us this converter? Also, why won't they sell it separately either? We need the converter, Microsoft!

Wait, no converter? No sale! Pre-order cancelled again!

Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
In regard to digital, what I might consider doing for some "special" games is:
- Buy the retail disc with fancy toys or content or whatever - Install it on my system - Sell the disc and standard case on craigslist or at gamestop or whatever - Run the game without the disc (which will prompt for the disc or a digital purchase, according to the folks at MS), and go for the digital purchase Obviously, I'll lose a few dollars in the whole thing, but I'm dedicated to digital-only games this generation on both systems. I'll only do this for games where I really need/want the extra physical goodies. Something like Fallout 4 would entice me to go this route, for example. |

Arent you basically paying 120 each time you do this? 60 for the physical copy and for the digital? I dont like the cost but I do like the approach your taking and am more interested if its worth the value |
Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
Well, I see it as:
- I pay X for the special edition, however much that is. - I get Y back from selling the disc and case. Around release date of any given game, this could be high or low, and even credit at Gamestop or Best Buy is fine, as I can put that toward my next "special" purchase. - I pay Z for the digital license. So it's (X + Z) - Y = the real cost I pay. It all depends on the price of the special edition I'm buying and the trade-in value of the disc and case without the goodies. Like I said, it'll be worth it for some specific ones, but not all. I'm considering it for Titanfall... If the disc and digital are the same price, for example, then the true cost is based on whatever you sell the disc for. If you can get $50 for it, then your true cost is $70, not $120. It may not be worth it for all titles, but depending on what makes it exclusive/special, it's a case-by-case basis. I did something similar with Portal 2 a couple years ago. Bought the PS3 version, claimed my Steam code, then sold the PS3 copy and bought the 360 copy. I did this because I wanted both the Steam and 360 versions (the latter for co-op with a co-worker), but not the PS3 version. I paid a bit extra in the end, but less than buying the Steam and 360 versions separately, so  edit: if there's literally nothing special about the physical copy, then I'll just avoid it entirely and buy digital on day one. |
Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
Now that sounds like a good plan

I started going digital this year. The Last of Us and GTA V (PS3), and COD: Ghosts (360).
FIFA 14 is my last disc game. I think I will still get some disc games, but most of my purchases are going to be digital. Edit: I just remembered, this week I bought "Remember Me" used from Gamefly. Really want to play that game, and for $13 it was a no brainer. |
Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
i want to keep buying discs until they let us trade in digital games. i'm fine with digital, but i sell back my games, so i can fund future purchases.

Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
I want to keep buying discs until the digital ones are cheaper and I can fully use a multi-terrabyte with the system.

Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
I'll only buy digital if it's less than $20 and/or they let you trade them in. Otherwise I want to keep the resale value as high as possible.

Math is fun!
I know all-digital isn't for everyone, but I'm going all-in because... well... why not. I thought about documenting my experiences and such, since this is all pretty new for consoles. Specifically talking about deals like CrashNBurn69 mentioned. but I'm a terrible writer, and I'm sure there are better people than me who work for gaming sites that are going to do that anyway. |
Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
'Killer Instinct Ultra Edition' Contains Not One But Two Versions of the Arcade Classic
Both version 1.4 and 1.5D of the arcade ROM will be included. Microsoft has some interesting plans for the new 'Killer Instinct,' not the least the of which is the $20 all eight initial characters unlocked offer that was sent to multiple Xbox Live users. Beyond that of course there is the single character (Jago) free edition included with the Xbox One, and the$40 Ultra version. Along with these different versions is the promise of new seasonal content such as an old school arcade progression mode. But setting that all aside, the Ultra version includes not one but two different versions of the original arcade game, now called 'Killer Instinct Classic,' that as of now only will come with the Ultra version. From producer Torin Retting, "Killer Instinct Classic is a complete port of the original Killer Instinct arcade game, and you can ONLY get it with the Ultra Edition of Killer Instinct. In fact it is a complete port of TWO versions of the Killer Instinct arcade game. It includes the original arcade ROM (v1.4) with all of the classic, fan-favorite glitches, and the revised version (v1.5D) that came out later to fix things like Cinder’s infinite combo. In addition to this we’ve added cool extras like a training mode, frame effects like scan lines to emulate a CRT and galleries of the original sprites." Sadly though, the 'Killer Instinct Classic' mode, which is basically a pure ROM with a few tweaks, will not support online play, though that may change in future. http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh..._Classic/13105 |
Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
So from my understanding BB will be doing head counts through the night and will start handing out tickets around 10 so to not make us wait till midnight only to find out we won't be getting one?
