The game looks badass, and I will be jealous...for 6 to 12 months or until it gets mixed reviews, whichever comes first. I was also bored with talking about smarmy thieves. |

We could talk about how the X1 DVR only records at 720p. Welfare game console, am I right?

Thanks OBAMA! :( |

This thread is suddenly bringing teh funneh.
Glad somebody caught that Decker...and took it in the spirit intended. I'm not fully up to speed on the video recording stuff, mostly because I don't really care. I'm thinking PS4 is more minutes but they haven't clarified quality? And twitch is better than ustream and is owned by MS? That about right? |

re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
Walkthrough and how-to videos have been extremely popular throughout this entire generation, and Let's Play-type videos have really taken off within the past year or so. (Just checked: one of the latest Let's Play Minecraft videos on Youtube is currently at 1,861,685 views.)
This should go without saying in videogame discussions by now, but just because you're not interested doesn't mean nobody is. |
re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
The question to ask is if the captured file can be pulled of the consoles and onto a PC/Mac for post process editing. Let's play are useless without commentary.

I honestly don't care that discostu is unethical or whatever, but I do think it's pretty funny that he is EXACTLY the type of "customer" that XB1's original anti-used policy was designed to deter, yet he was the most enthusiastic defender of that policy.
I honestly don't care how he gets his games or what he does with them, but the idea that the XO was going to save the industry from itself is an odd one, considering that the original design of the XO was made to save the industry from, well...from people like him. |

Oh, you forgot the part where nobody wants to watch you play a video game, either live or recorded.
Twitch.tv apparently is really popular. |
re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
I like the idea of watching friends finish their current game while you wait to join, but it's not a big deal.

I don't get it either. Maybe we're too old. I have a family with a busy schedule. If I have free time to sit in front o the tv I'm going to play a game or watch Breaking Bad, not watch someone else play Halo.

re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
I think it will be something that will be increasingly used and grow in popularity with the addition to the PS4 and XB1, since it wasn't as easily done from consoles as it was on PC's prior.

re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
The biggest advantage of that feature is the recording of you earning achievements. I think that will be a fun distinguisher.

re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
It's not just "watching someone play a game". I watch game videos all the time to figure out how to get a certain achievement or where a stupid hidden collectable is or crazy ways a game glitches out.
This is something both console makers should be commended for in this upcoming generation. Instead of deciding "This will be the new thing!" and shoving some new dumb tech down our throats, they've seen something people are already doing with external devices and are making it easier for most of the people using it. |

This is where the constant buffer comes in; you don't have to plan ahead of time to share or stream a video, but when something cool/interesting happens, you can quickly retroactively save that clip and share it. |

I'm looking forward to some epic teabagging compilations.

No surprise here, but let the hate flow through you...
http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/08/...old-membership Xbox One's DVR Feature Requires Xbox Live Gold Membership Paying members access better features. An Xbox Live Gold subscription is required to use Xbox One's DVR game-capture and video sharing functionality. Gold members will also have access to Skype and Smart Match multiplayer matchmaking, of course, as online play requires a Gold subscription. Xbox Live Gold's one-year membership costs $59.99 in North America, and Xbox 360 users' existing Gold accounts will unlock access to Skype, DVR, Smart Match, and more when Xbox One releases this November. Currently, Xbox Gold members can get Crackdown for free on Xbox 360. Xbox One's DVR captures clips at 30 frames per second in 720p, Microsoft recently told IGN. For more on how Xbox Live works on Xbox One, check out IGN's detailed wiki guide. Will you upgrade to Gold for game capture and sharing capabilities, or are you an existing member looking forward to the features? Let us know in the comments below. |

 Built in DVR. Built in storage. Require service to use. Makes sense.

I guess the question is whether just the sharing aspect requires Gold, whether you'll be able to game-capture and keep on your console no matter what, but can't share it without Gold.

It's possible they could include some more advanced video editing functionality into it. For example, they could allow you to place a voiceover on top of the video using a headset (or the Kinect mic, I guess). |
