Re: Bungie - Destiny
I played salvage mode for the first time yesterday and I enjoyed it much better than control. It's only 3v3 but everyone sticks together because there's only 1 objective. You can also revive your teammates so even if you get owned, your teammates might be able to finish off your killer and revive you (and vice versa). It just felt much less frustrating to me.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Hadn't played in a few days so I hadn't really experienced any of the unbalanced play. Played some Control for an hour or so and was doing okay. Didn't seem all that unbalanced to me. Then I unlocked Rumble so I gave that a go. Boom. Matched up with all mid 20s and I was struggling to get kills. What a joke. Bungie's got some work ahead of them if they want to make this a viable long term game. I mean if I can get the drop on someone, unload a whole clip and they spin around and one shot kill you... not fun.
Then again, Bungie's full of hardcore players, right? Maybe that was the goal, to weed out the average-to decent only leaving noobs and pros.

I'm just glad they didn't make the PvP trophies more extensive.

I've got all three characters on the Moon...one just needing the last mission, one set with a group I'm playing with and the other about in the middle. I need to go on the group topic and get names to add. I'm always looking on the list to see who is on and where they are.

I'm mostly getting clobbered in the Crucible, but so far I am enjoying it. It's nice being level 7 when you do take out someone who's 20 something.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Does anyone here get upset if you're playing with someone that's a higher level? I feel like it doesn't seem to matter that much in this game. From my experience, the loot drops are player specific and only I can see them while the other players in my fireteam don't. Just curious. I've been tempted to hop in other peoples games, but I didn't want to piss anyone off. I know in Borderlands a higher level player could ruin it for other people by killing everyone and stealing all the loot, but in this game it doesn't seem like that's possible.

Played with some friends and by myself and discovered Venus, that outer rim area with the guy/girl with the cool eyes, and Mars. The fat boy Legionares are awesome but hard to kill when they have their shields up. If they get together and swarm you then you're fucked.

Did a little bit of Venus myself. The game continues to be pretty, and the shooting is really rewarding, but overall, it's nothing terribly innovative or interesting. It still feels like a mix of Borderlands and Warframe, but it's not as good as either one.
It's the quintessential "7.8 game". Nothing really wrong but nothing really inspiring either.
Wish I'd waited for the bargain bin.

I'm enjoying it - I'm also the guy that can go back into Just Cause 2 and still have fun, even 285 hours into the game! I'm leveling up, practicing in older levels with new weapons. I just bought a rocket launcher - curious to see if I can take down one of those troop transports that pop up from time to time.

Wow yeah you're right he's gone now. I saw him last night. Why would they make him leave early in the day and not at night?

I ran into these enemies with "???" as their level and they were completely immune to my level 8 guns, and they killed me with one hit. Something about The Blood of Oryx. What the hell was that?

This game definitely "opens up" a bit more when you reach Lvl 20. There's heroic missions, random hard team strikes that pairs you with other players and earns you vanguard points, replay mission challenges, etc.
I actually stopped playing the story because I started doing all these random other modes. I did a Lvl 20 strike mission with 2 random players and we were annihilating everything. Got some good loot too. Picked up my first legendary item.

If they're 5 levels above you they show up as ??? and are invincible to your weapons. When you level up to a comparable number, you'll be able to see their rank and kill them. There's some level 18-20 knights and wizards hidden on Earth.

I'm on level 13 and I go into random missions sometimes and play with 2 other people that might hanging out there. Played one mission where they had this giant monster chained up and we almost beat it several times until the hall was flooded by wizards and knights.

Anyways, I think that once I see all the environments the game has to offer, I'm pretty much done with it. Leveling up and looting doesn't seem to really add anything to the game, as there's no real story or characters to speak of, and the co-op feels lacking as well, and there's also not much to find from extensively exploring either. But the environments are sure nice, so once there's no more of those, I see no reason to continue playing.

Me and kanjji finished all but the last Moon Mission...saving tht one when we level up a bit more and get extra help....Chess, Flashburn, etc....
We did start the first Venus simply to check it out and simply amazing looking. After spending a great del on the Moon what a contrast. The drops and what's availble in the Tower is getting better. i hit 14 and for the first time saw all Green offered by the Gunsmith. I'm buying stuff that's like two levels ahead so to make sure I have something good especially if it's a certain rifle...so far that's worked.
Flashburn or Chess we'll be on around 5:30 (central my time) to continue the Venus story and maybe give the last Moon Mission a shot...

Re: Bungie - Destiny
You had to have been at least level 2 when you saw those level 7 guys, because you reach Lvl 2 before you finish the introductory level.

I've tried that Moon Strike mission a few times. At level 11-13 and we had no luck beating that guy and his stupid knights and wizards.

Yea...I've heard bad things about the Strike Moon Mission and we're not touching it until we have a group at 14-15+ with weapons in that range. We've moved to Venus and the first mission had Level 10 enemies. Those new enemies were no slouch either. I'm having to use a Level 12 Hand Connon to take them down.

I did a little googling and am getting some conflicting info on who does the Gunsmith voice. IMDB says it's Logan Cunningham "unconfirmed", but other sites are saying it's John DiMaggio.
