sounds like the no revives is going to be the biggest challenge .... speaking of, I guess that means the aura holder for the Warpriest must continually kill adds to keep the aura or there won't be enough players to continue on .... good luck with that |

Killing 1 add, resets the aura timer. If the aura holder can get his 1 kill before the timer runs out, you can go a whole round without anyone ever dying (not to mention having the 5 other players alive the entire time dealing damage gets much quicker results). I've been a part of multiple groups that have killed the warpiest on the second round if the initial aura holder never dies. |

That really should have been your strategy all along. I know the first time I ran the raid with the daggers, the strategy was to just let the aura holder die and pass it on to others. Easy? Yes. Effective? Absolutely not. After running many subsequent raids with LFG folks, that is really a horrible way to manage that battle.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
No worries. I know it was still fairly new to everyone when I ran it with you all (including my first time ever). People have since fine tuned their strategies. LFG has always been a good place for picking up alternate methods since others have their own ideas of how it should be done.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
I can also vouch that some LFG idea's I have seen pushed have also been really bad ideas :D :p
|
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Well if the LFG group is 6 total strangers, one bad idea usually gets overruled.
From my experience, the group of regulars that only need 1 or 2 from LFG are usually the ones that can't get anything done properly but still insist on blaming the new guy when things go wrong. For the most part I've had phenomenal experiences with LFG, but there definitely has been the occasional disaster. EDIT: My flawless raider run on Crota was done with 6 total strangers from LFG. Finished it on our 2nd attempt. Would've actually been the 1st attempt but the sword holder got over-excited and went for that 1 extra sword strike that he knew would probably enrage him... and it did. |

The flaw with the kill method is that the round doesn't last as long as it does in the die method.
Personally I'd prefer to pass each section without anyone dying. When the strategy involves killing off fireteam members, it only puts more pressure on the surviving ones and creates more potential for wipes (not to mention creating bad habits for hard mode which has never allowed revives). |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Just heads up if anyone knows of a friend or maybe someone getting a PS4 but Amazon has the Standard Edition Destiny today for $14.89 and I believe the Taken King Legendary Edition is $49.00 so both games could be had for around $65.00....not bad to get into Destiny.
|
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Why would you get both games? You only need the Taken King as it comes with Destiny..
|
Re: Bungie - Destiny
I don't myself but there might be some out there who doesn't even have the first and held off. We're getting close to that time of year...like Black Friday a month away...where some with the older Gen might finally be looking to make the jump or even current Gen owners who have held off. I myself have thought of grabbing TTK many times and probably will come Black Friday week. I was going to get both Battlefront and COD:BOIII but just getting COD now....still have Shadow of Mordor, Dying Light and Bloodborne to wrap up.

TTK Legendary Edition includes Destiny and the 1st 2 expansions...

Thats not entirely true. I think each aura lasts around 10 seconds. If you don't kill any adds, you die and the next guy gets a fresh 10 second timer. If you kill an add, the timer resets and you get the same 10 seconds. The trick is to get that kill with 1 second left. If you get a kill with 5 seconds remaining, you obviously lose those 5 seconds and the round doesn't last as long... but when the aura holder times it right and gets a last second kill, the aura will stay on that 1 guy just as long as if it was passed around to 4 different people.

I always wondered why we did it with the die method since every video I've seen with successful Youtubers use the timer. Kill method would be faster because of DPS 4-5 sustained firing vs losing one every 10 seconds.

We do it that way because in normal mode we do it on the first try every time unless someone fucks up. We all came to that conclusion early on while you were on your mandated video game sabbatical. :p

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Saw this on reddit... slightly different Oryx strategy for hard mode. Seems pretty safe and straightforward. Some of the comments within the original post suggest this is method most people are using now.
It might be a good idea to start using the daughters platforms in normal mode too, if you're not doing so already, just to get used to the nuances. I know a lot of groups station their roamer up there. http://youtu.be/iw3zP1-lnjw |

Just ran my nightfalls. Rewards were 2 Ghosts at 295, and 18 strange coins. No cloak dropped for me, but I did get my 5th and 6th tread among stars.

I finally got above 300 on my warlock so I decrypted all my exotics. Half of them ended up being 310. Is there a list of what you can actually get from an exotic engram? IE Can Bad Juju or Red Death be obtained from a primary exotic. I am tried of alll the freaking hawk moons when I have yet to see a supercell.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Well, I made it through the taken king!! It was such a chore but I did it. I actually dug the two bosses you have to fight first before confronting Oryx.
I don't know if I'll ever get into another destiny game but it was a cool experience to make it all the way through this one...even with the mind numbing repetitiveness but hey, the changes they made for the taken king somewhat made up for it. |
