best advice I can offer is determine what you are interested in accomplishing each time you sign on and try and stick to that
it's easy to get sidetracked especially with different people doing different things in groups of fireteams

top priority is going to be getting your main to level 40 and around 300 light
after that you have more freedom to move armor/weapons for infusing on the lower level characters

I'm not using them this way (I'm really not using them at all) but you can use them to put XP into gear

or you can use them to rep up factions

just make sure you save enough to use as part of the infusion process

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Ok, this might be a very bad question. But what is the infusion process?

musick 09-24-15 02:41 PM

Re: Bungie - Destiny

taking a higher level piece of Y2 gear (weapon or armor) and merging (infusing) it with a lower level of Y2 gear you want to increase the light on

ex. 290 light level blue (rare) helmet and infuse it into a 275 light level purple (legendary) helmet in order to increase the light level on the legendary helmet as legendary gear will generally have better perks than rare gear just as exotic gear will generally have better perks than legendary gear

process = have the 2 pieces of gear you want to use for infusion (lower level item and higher level item) on your character but not equipped or locked
hit the details button on the lower light level item you want infused
there will be a circle on the left side of the screen for infusion
hit the accept button and it will bring up a list of eligible gear on your character that you can infuse into it
I believe the cost is 2500 glimmer, 1 mote, 3 legendary marks ... and an exotic shard in the case of exotics

Re: Bungie - Destiny

So best I can tell, there's really no reason to get any of the three factions above rep level 3, right?

What I'm thinking is that I should side with a faction, rep up to level 3 so everything opens, then switch to the next and so on until they're all level 3.

Is there something I'm missing with that reasoning?

I don't think you need to be at level 3 anymore to get faction packages now
I think it is just whenever you hit the next level (implemented with TTK)

you will get a quest for an exotic class item at level 25 of a faction but it cannot be used if you move your pledge to another faction

Ah, didn't know about that item. That makes sense to stick with one for a long time then. Thx!

If this was a solo game yes, but if I want to continue to be able to play with the group I have played with for the past year, there is definitely some pressure to keep up or get left behind.

Perfect example is last night. While doesn't sound like anybody was going to finish that run for the exotic sniper, I certainly felt like I was dragging scott and gold down when we tried to run it, because I didn't have good enough weapons and my level wasn't high enough. On the other hand, none of us prob had good enough weapons.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

I hear you but more will be left behind than not if some want to speed race through the content

I didn't even bother with getting the sniper last night and I'm at 296 light because I didn't feel like getting into a time sink with no guarantee of finishing and the prospect of just clearing out adds for a good hour on a weeknight
though we almost did the same thing as Scott, chase, and myself ran the Court and there was a random that kept launching the level 3 ruin
it basically amounted to 6 of us trying to hit a version of Crota with weak weapons and the rare rocket shell that more times than not didn't even make contact because it was a blue (rare) launcher without tracking

I plan on going into the raid this weekend (which is high level content) but with no expectations of completing any part of it
just more of less to check it out without having seen any part of it

I would say that's more of an example of the others trying to acquire everything in the new content rather than you not keeping up. TTK has only been out for a week. Although it's nice to always be the first person to do things in this game, just keep in mind that was the FIRST DAY anybody knew about that exotic sniper. I'm sure there will be other oppurtunities when everyone is more prepared to replay that mission and get it.

I think this new version of the game (TTK) takes a bit of a mindshift. Before, the game was much more linear: Just do this, this and this and you get where you want to go.

Now that's changed. There are many, many paths (and it looks like more to come) that can lead you to "end game" (if there is such a thing). I think the enjoyable way to play will be to just do what you want and eventually you'll get there.

Of course, you can play smartly and strategically while you do that. Play through story missions that give the best rewards first. If your friends are online, hit harder missions with them. As you read conversations on boards like this, pick up little tips and tricks.

For me, I've already noticed I'm collecting runes, shards and other things that I have no idea what they do--and I'm not even going to check yet. I've still got plenty of missions that I'm working through for now. Eventually I'll get there.

And let's face it: This game is a blast. Who cares if it takes a long time. In fact, I certainly hope it does.

So shortly before reset I started that daily mission. At first it was just to finish it for the marks. But then as another group finished the mission and got joe a Spindle, the two that helped him were willing to join me.

We go through it, get to the ketch and we actually finish the whole thing with a minute to spare. But it was after reset. I got nothing. No Marks, no Black Spindle. Such BS.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

2.0.0.4 - The one that released on the heels of Oryx.
With the first week of Destiny: The Taken King behind us, we're taking an opportunity to address and tackle some of the immediate issues that are impacting the player experience.

General

Fixed an issue with Year 1 Moments of Triumphs in which Golden Chest node completions were disappearing after TTK release
Activities

Quests

Fixed an issue where players who reached Level 40 before turning in the Reach Level 30 objective did not properly receive the Level 40 quest Fixed an issue where the quest "High Value Targets" did not correctly reward Legendary Marks upon completion
Strikes

Fixed an issue where Year 1 Strikes were not dropping Uncommon and Rare quality gear as intended

World

Some treasure chests in the Dreadnaught are now in a location that only allow them to be looted once per spawn

Xur

Three of Coins now provides a smaller increase in Exotic Engram drop chance when rapidly killing Ultras

Inventory

Dismantling leveled-up Exotics now have a reduced chance to produce 2 Exotic Shards
sitting on 118 exotic shards but WTF on the last item?

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Good morning folks, and welcome to the Xur Report brought to you by Chase. No no, not the bank, our good Canadian buddy RoyFurious, who we joined on a year long quest to obtain a Hawkmoon. Last week that quest finally ended as he acquired one through 3 of Coins farming.

This week, his quest would have ended anyway. Let's get to the deals. Xur is located in the Tower Hangar, right of the stairs.

http://oi60.tinypic.com/sobwhi.jpg

The Legacy Engram this week is for Primary Weapons. So if you missed out on the MIDA, Thorn or any other Year 1 Primary that wasn't carried over, now's your chance. It's still an overpriced 31 coins.

For the Titan, it's the Year 2 version of Ruin Wings. More heavy ammo drops, and more ammo from each drop. Good perks in a world where it's tough to find gear that has the old heavy ammo perk.

For the Hunter, it's a new item with a familiar name, Sealed Ahamkara Grasps. That's right, a new Hunter piece that sounds a lot like their old Young Ahamkara's Spine. These have some really good perks of giving you an extra melee change is nice, but it also has a perk that makes your melee charge faster. So if you're rocking the Nightstalker, get ready for smoke bombs for days.

For the Warlock, it's the Year 2 Version of Light Beyond Nemesis. This is the teamwork helm, giving you an extra orb on supers and faster revives and reviving. It's an all Intellect roll as opposed to the classic version that had all strength. All in all a good pickup.

The Weapon this week (yes, we get a weapon) is, for the first time ever: the HAWKMOON! That's right, the elusive former Playstation Exclusive is now available to all for just 23 strange coins. There you go Chase...just a week late.

No armor engram this week, as Xur will swap between a weapon, or an armor engram. Maybe next week...

The Three Of Coins is back, but bear in mind that farming with it by killing a boss and dying will be far less effective now thanks to yesterday's patch. Still nice to have it for it's normal intended use...I hope.

So that's it for the text Report, stay tuned for the video report, coming right up. Viewer discretion is advised, as I really give it to Lord Shaxx early on.

Good old "dick in the ass" Xur. Always knows how to fuck me just right. Everything he brought this week I was multiple times last week, with the exception of the hunter arms.

Well, I was glad to see Light Beyond Nemesis since you got all of them last week ;)

I now have all of my old helmets upgraded. Still need 2 of the new ones (Takionaut, the other new Warlock helm that's not The Stag).

For those that have been following along, I have been working on the Crucible quests to unlock the weekly Crucible bounties. It's been one rectal exam after another, but here I stand on the mountaintop.

Shaxx:

Quartermaster:

And finally, besides the bounties, look at the "sweet" reward you get at the end:

Oh man, that 150 attack is gonna wreck people!!!!!

I assume I can still shop at Xur even if I don't have TTK?

I have the 3 Y1 exotics he is selling this week (Light Beyond Nemesis, Ruin Wings, Hawkmoon ... sorry Chase :p <-- just for old time's sake). Do I buy them from Xur or pull them out of the collection to upgrade to Y2?

If you don't have TTK, I don't think you can buy year 2 gear.

Glad he's selling the Sealed Ahamkara Grasps. That's one of the items I was hoping to get out of my 10+ gauntlet engrams.

I don't think you can use anything from TTK. From what I understand your level cap remains 34 until you buy TTK.

Ok, thanks Gold.

Assuming I did have it, what is the best way to upgrade Y1 to Y2? Buy from Xur or collection (if that is even possible).

Thanks Cruz too. I will test it out tonight to see if I can buy it but not use it. This way I can stash for when/if I do get TTK.
