I bought Destiny for my kid brother as a birthday present last year, and he's only played for 19 hours. I guess the dropoff is pretty steep because he's ranked #35,878.

I could've sworn someone on here cracked a joke about Xur not having a weapon for sale last week, quipping "don't worry, he'll have Patience and Time for sale again next week". I don't know where I read that or if I just made that whole thing up, but sure enough, Patience and Time is for sale this week.

Xur has returned and has brought a weapon back with him this week. I do hope you can contain your excitement.

Xur is located in North Tower again, this time in front of the bog doors across from the speaker.

Here are the deals:



For the Titan, it's the return of The Armamentarium chest piece. It's the 8th time Xur has offered it, but the first time in 15 weeks. The roll is low at 140, but it's a good piece if you don't have it. It also makes female Titans look like they have nice boobies...

For the Hunter, it's Young Ahamkara's Spine gauntlets. It's the 5th time Xur has offered these, and they came up about 7 weeks ago. The roll is decent at 108, but the perks suck.

For the Warlock, it's Starfire Protocol for the 8th time. There's only one item that Xur has sold more than this, Voidfang Vestments. And at least Voidfang is a good piece. The roll here is low and the perks are stinky. Plus, it's ugly and doesn't work with shaders.

The engram this week is for chests. So if you want a better roll on what he has, there you go.

The weapon this week is there, but you may not see it...it's Patience & Time. This is the 4th time P&T has been offered. Decent sniper, lets you go invisible, not a bad item. But we all know what he should have had last week, so this feels like a middle finger right from Bungie.

I have a P&T. I like it, bit I don't have anything to really compare it to and I haven't got it upgraded all the way yet.

As much as I'd like to have seen the Ice Breaker, I know I'd enjoy it more if it dropped for me

Any opinions on whether i should ascend vision of confluence or badger ccl with explosive rounds

Haven't really tried out vision yet, heard it shreads through enemy shields

My badger destroys vex and thrall, really anything, isn't great against shielded enemys

Pretty sure the badger has higher impact than vision also

if you had to pick between the two you want to ascend the VoC, no contest
VoC has elemental (solar) burn .... the Badger does not
additionally the VoC is full auto which is somewhat helpful and will be of great use if you continue to run VoG .... I liked my Badger but this decision is a no brainer ... you can have fun with Firefly and Explosive Rounds when you get a Fatebringer

Your Destiny Character Will Stay With You for 10 Years

No need to make a new character for upcoming expansions or sequels, Bungie confirms.

Given that Bungie has a ten-year, Lord of the Rings-sized plan for Destiny, fans may be happy to learn that the developer has now confirmed that your existing Guardian will be with you until the end. You will never need to make a new character or switch to another one with expansions like The Taken King or whatever is coming next. Destiny engineering lead Luke Timmins explained to GamesRadar that Bungie recognizes players have made significant time and monetary investments in their characters. "We certainly take it seriously that Destiny is a ten-year thing," he said. "It's a long-term thing and with these adventures that we're adding my contract to you--and any player--is that your Guardian will always be there. We're going to keep adding new stuff for you to do and I'd hope you'll look at The Taken King and be like, 'I'm looking forward to logging on again and hooking friends online.'"

The Taken King is Destiny's next expansion. The $40 add-on arrives in September and has a lot to offer, including some strong story elements, GameSpot's Alex Newhouse wrote in an E3 preview. Looking beyond The Taken King, Bungie recently said that Destiny has a huge amount of untapped potential, and that work had begun on an "upcoming title" in the Destiny universe. On Level 35 this week, the Skolas modifiers are Brawler and Juggler. So if there was a week to try and get this done, this would be it.

Variks is offering Helmets this week. All 3 have Intellect & Discipline rolls.

Titans and Hunters get Hive perks
Warlocks get Cabal perks

Variks is also selling the Fusion Rifle this week, but without Shank Burn it's almost not worth mentioning. Instead, you get a chance to suppress a Fallen Captain's abilities.

N/GEN Branch (Nexus Strike area) - Venus

I've never done a level 35 POE, so I wouldn't mind checking that out this weekend if it's a little easier than other weeks.

I finally completed that Urn quest. Geez, could they have made that any more work? I have to wait now for Xur to trade it in. Hopefully for "a new car!".

Is your 1st Gjallarhorn maxed out yet?

For Skolas, you really need to have maxed out weapons (you're facing Level 35 enemies as a 34), and the GHorn helps quite a bit. I'm not saying this to give you a hard time, but focus on getting your GHorn maxed before thinking about doing Skolas.

Guys, should I tell him what he's going to win? Or should I leave that surprise for Eris?

"Win" isn't exactly the right word. In Destiny, do you ever really "win"?
