Re: Bungie - Destiny

Who wants to see the new Warlock in action? Here's a look at a Stormcaller Warlock in the new Mayhem Clash PVP mode. Basically, it's Clash, but your supers charge A LOT faster. Anyhoo, here's the Sith Lord in action:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/c0IK-X9hkr8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

You may also notice that they added your XP level to your emblem area along with light level. The new XP level max will be 30. While light will likely be at 50.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

So do you still get access to the new abilities via patch even if you don't get the new expansion?

People's anger is absolutely understandable.

After getting what felt like half a game for $60 and two $20 DLCs that were probably worth more like $10, balking at a $40 expansion pack is ABSOLUTELY rational. And I really can't think of a lot of precedent for $40 DLC anyway.

Exactly.

I couldn't care less about the emotes or emblems. It's strictly a price point that I can't support...not just from a value perspective, but as a matter of principle.

Kind of dismissive.

I've spent enough time with the game to form a valid opinion, and I absolutely agree with those "silly statements". If anything, I find it more silly to defend their business practices to date.

But I think the new all inclusive edition for new players is a great price for what's become a pretty decent game. Maybe I'll pick up some variation of that down the road, but for now, I'm out. I'll spend my $40 on Batman or something.

incorrect ......

-7/11 exclusivity lasts until August 1st.

-The Destiny-themed Red Bull will be at 7/11 from July 1st – September 1st.

-Walmart & other stores will sell these cans from August 1st – September 30th.

..... plus codes from a drink can are not going to be that difficult to obtain
a little extreme to surmise you cannot get a code to access the content till next year if you do not have a 7-11 in your area, yes?

Re: Bungie - Destiny

On principle alone (unless The Taken King is more content than these last two expansions combined), I'm not spending $40 on DLC.

That, and I can hit 34 on all my characters now so there isn't anything else for me to do. I'm intrigued by Osiris but it's nearly impossible to get a solid schedule with two other people for a game.

I will focus my time on doing Weeklies and the occasional VoG/Crota Raid if you guys are around.

Doubtful. The new subclasses are obtained by doing missions/quests in The Taken King. Besides, they're one of the major parts of the new expansion, so I can't imagine they'd give it away to everyone.

I'll just buy the Year 2 CE for $40 summer of 2016 instead of spending $120.

Sounds like they had no plan, didn't expect the backlash to be this great, and are now scrambling to find something for year one players.

Also, the Limited Collector's Edition of Halo 5 will not release early for those who purchase that specific edition. Microsoft has already cleared this up due to the misinformation going around. While the physical units will be shipped to customers the week before the game's release, the code is specifically for preloads only. The game itself will not unlock until 12:01AM EST on the 27th. It's a stupid decision (here's a steelbook for a piece of paper!), but whatever.
Doesn't Activision have control of pricing/packaging, or is that all Bungie? Like making an LE for only people that don't have the game yet or are willing to double dip?

As far as Halo, I meant exactly what you said, that people would have the items in hand early so they can pre load and play it right away; I don't really see the appeal of that, and certainly that's going to cause havoc with the retailers having to explain why this game people bought doesn't work until next week, but we'll see.

As far as backlash, I'm not an avid player of Destiny but I don't think I would have anticipated the backlash over gestures. All they have to say is that they'll eventually be available separately, and they'll probably still sell enough of the LE to newcomers and diehards who want to show off their gestures early.

Its nothing to do with entitlement. Its the attitude of Luke Smith. Its like that scene from Goodfellas. "Fuck you, pay me"

We know you want this stuff so bad that you will rebuy the entire game over again just to get it./

it has nothing to do with Luke Smith as the community was already up in arms before his comments ..... his comments were just gasoline on the fire .... some of which were probably taken out of the context

as stated by the interviewer

Bungie deserves tough questions on #Destiny pricing but it's getting pitchforky out there... Luke Smith interview was actually good-natured.

I read some of it as good old fashion ribbing and not to be malicious .... of course the fanbase who wasn't there and only read the words reads it as a full assault on them

This is more like it.

I am going to wait for reviews on TTK before I decided to get it, though. No more Day 1 blind purchases for me.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Their "solution" is arguably worse than the first offer. That content was standard premium-edition fluff and now they're offering for $20 on the same day they're already charging $40?

That also puts the day-1 player at $160 which is exactly twice what they're charging for the infamous all-in bundle that started this whole mess.

Lame. If they actually read/listened to the complaints, they'd see that the main issue is too little actual content for the money charged.

So $40 for TTK and another $20 for emotes, shaders, and class items?

Their 10 year plan is to syphon the big money out of your wallets one DLC at a time.

$20 for emotes and shaders! On top of $40 for another half-assed DLC! The arrogance is just stunning. They must think we're complete morons.

And lots of people are. Many will pay for it and defend it, because their only beef was that they weren't allowed to give Bungie even more money.

Anybody with any semblence of self respect has to stop somewhere.

This seems like a pretty good spot.
